Just enjoyed a glas of Jameson
to bad I need a new bottle soon and as a student I have to rely on presents if I want finer stuff (hoping for christmas!)
edit: maybe not exactly true, gonna invest in a good bottle every now and then, but it's gonna be rely sacred to drink of it then for me...

ALL HAIL THE HALLOWED W's: WOMEN, WINE, WHISKEY, and W#@$ (stva)
as for scotch my favourite tend to be of speyside origin!!
oban 14 year is not bad glenfiddich 12 year is one of my fav for cheap cheap glenlivit 12 year (i like the younger ones it seems) is absolutely delicious without too much smokey
but my present #1 special happens to be Balvenie 12 year
![[image loading]](http://fastfood.ocregister.com/files/2011/07/balvenie.jpg)
These are all easy to find at BevMo , Vons, etc. I'm not a rare scotch hound, just like simple tastes perhaps. Personally i'm not a fan of the very few older bottles I have tried, Glenfiddich 15 and Macallan 18. Maybe I feel that the cost should impart some special character and I am psyching myself out (also Johnny Walker Blue Label didn't knock my socks off) but i can't afford to develop a taste for those anyways...not yet hahahah
Aside from that, you'd all be crazy to skip out on this new edition whiskey:
![[image loading]](http://inthemix.on-premise.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Jack-Daniels-Tennesee-Honey-Logo.jpg)
honestly I love jack, evan williams, and even those plastic bottle many-liter brands. i am welcoming to whiskey of all types and even though this Honey flavour sounds gimmicky, just try it. It's no wonder why stores often sell out of stock - this smooth delicious libation is 35% strong, and girls/whiskey haters love it ROOM TEMP and NEAT. honestly delicious, I nurse a bottle of this like I might nurse a low cost scotch (i'm looking at you you dear Glenfiddich).
get out there and drink!

I mostly dislike whiskey and scotch (and you misspelled the title wtf man?). I'm more of a rum guy (sailor jerry). But that's because most of the whiskey I've had is just your general garbage like jim beam and jack daniels. JD and gin are my least favorite forms of alcohol. But that's mainly because I like to drink hard alcohol straight on the rocks. I haven't puked from drinking since I gave up sugar filled chasers and mixed drinks.

Scottish only spell it without the "e". American styles like Bourbon or Rye include the "e". Whisky and Whiskey. Just depends on the local variation. No wonder you're a rum drinker, wise up son.

Whiskey can also be spelled whisky...
Depending on where you are from there might be a distinction implied; scottish distillers will tell you that they make whisky and everything else is whiskey... The term scotch is thus somewhat interchangeable with whisky.

I know, that's because their whisky is based off the scotch model. They are more similar than say, Japanese and Irish whiskey.

I like Jameson's, but for good times Red Breast

Highland Park Scotch whisky is amazing. currently have a bottle of the 25 year aged and it is soooooooooo good.

Ahh, nice thread.
This is my home bar (whisky bottom, mostly good quality cocktail stuff + rum + cognac top):
![[image loading]](http://chris.dicio.org/bar/bar.jpg) (of course I'm not drinking from those tumblers but from Glencairn glasses )
I really like all those. My favorite whisky in terms of price/value is probably Talisker. However of the peaty ones, Lagavulin 16 is totally awesome as well. Of the milder ones, I really enjoy the Auchentoshan Three Woods. My most expensive one is the Dalmore King Alexander III - you taste that it is better/finer, though I would not say that it is worth paying 100€ for it. My first Whisk(e)y was Bushmills Single Malt - half a year ago in an Irish Pub in Munich Fell in love with it and it opened a new world of taste for me, so I still love those as well (also the 16 year old triple wood).
All those are: - Jameson (cheapest, when you are already drunk ;D) - Bushmills 10yo - Bushmills 16yo - Woodford Reserve Bourbon - Auchentoshan Three Woods (<3) - Glenmorangie 10yo - The Glenlivet 18yo - Macallan Sherry Cask 10yo - Dalmore King Alexander III - Talisker 10yo (<3) - Aberlour A'bunadh (sherry bomb, pretty cool if you like playing with water) - Laphroig 10yo (regretting I didn't get cask strength..) - Lagavulin Destillers Edition - Highland Park 1998 Travel Value (basically 12yo in a liter bottle for 0.7l price) - Lagavulin 16yo - Caol Ila Cask Strength
I think it has a bit of everything so far. All major regions and kinds. On my wishlist are: Talisker Destillers Edition, Glenfarclas 25yo, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Balvenie Double Wood, Glendronach Revival, Bowmore 18yo, Springbank Cask Strength and Octomore 167ppm
You should also try the 12 yo Appleton Estate Extra Rum. It's soooooooo mild and delicious. I'm really open for good affordable rum suggestions because I know nearly nothing about those but I guess that's offtopic in this thread. :D

Yo Artrey you in Munich? Want to do a Whisky tasting some time?
|
What I have at home is some:
Bowmore (very smokey) Tomatin (mild) Aberlour (warm and mild)
I like them all but I only drink one at a time, dependent on my mood or what my friends want to drink.
After drinking whysky for a few years I am also into great Gin, lately. Get some really good Gin and you will always remember it ofc, it tastes nothing like whisky but i wanted to mention that i can be a really good drink, even without mixing it with other stuff....

A lot of my favorite whiskys have been mentioned already so I'll have to share my absolute favorite bourbon (and yes... bourbon is a type of whiskey >.<).... Bookers!
![[image loading]](http://www.pedrelli.com/img/products/full/2083.jpg)
Bookers is a single barrel aged bourbon, NOT for the light of heart!!!!! Each bottle, or barrel rather, has a proof slightly different from the next. Proof is between 121 & 127! It's made by jim beam and is on the pricy side, often as much as $75 here in the USA. Enjoy!
edit: Oops! Sorry KingOctavious, just saw your Bookers recommendation, glad to see I'm not alone!

This is the top of my bookshelf. There's bullets, a gun cleaning kit, 2 bottles of scotch whiskey with a combined age of 42 years and for some reason, a laser thermometer. :D

I love it! Maybe because it's my only "real" cask strength whisky (not counting the a'bunadh). But I think it's more fresh than Laga and not as spicy as Talisker and comes with a little sweet peatyness.
