We are extremely close to shutting down this thread for the same reasons the PUA thread was shut down. While some of the time this thread contains actual discussion with people asking help and people giving nice advice, it often gets derailed by rubbish that should not be here. The moderation team will be trying to steer this thread in a different direction from now on. Posts of the following nature are banned: 1) ANYTHING regarding PUA. If your post contains the words 'alpha' or 'beta' or anything of that sort please don't hit post. 2) Stupid brags. You can tell us about your nice success stories with someone, but posts such as 'lol 50 Tinder matches' are a no-no. 3) Any misogynistic bullshit, including discussion about rape culture. 4) One night stands and random sex. These are basically brags that invariably devolve into gender role discussions and misogynistic comments. Last chance, guys. This thread is for dating advice and sharing dating stories. While gender roles, sociocultural norms, and our biological imperative to reproduce are all tangentially related, these subjects are not the main purpose of the thread. Please AVOID these discussions. If you want to discuss them at length, go to PMs or start a blog. If you disagree with someone's ideologies, state that you disagree with them and why they won't work from a dating standpoint and move on. We will not tolerate any lengthy derailments that aren't directly about dating.

Breakups after such long relationships are hard to get over with, you can never know when she has a breakdown and some hidden feelings appear again. I always use the 1234 rule of thumb: 1 year 2 months 3 weeks and 4 days is sort of the time it takes for it to be okay. But it might be a week shorter or longer depending on personality.

The bottom line is, fishjie's friends are the only kinds of friends that exist, and nobody has ever felt differently about an ex, ever. It is known.

These are basic common sense things such as don't date a coworker who works on the same team as you. you can ignore them and suffer the consequences while everyone else enjoys the lulz, or you can make good life choices

I think the close proximity of being a friend to the friend whose ex you're dating would likely end up with her cheating on you and then you losing both your friend and the girl. (Just using "you" in general) Never date friend's exes unless you're prepared to lose them both. Myself and my blogs exemplify this.

That's an attitude problem though. It took me ages to come to terms with the fact my parents are incredibly racist and homophobic, but now I've stopped worrying what they think because it's not up to them to determine who I can and can't be happy with etc. I also disagree with their pov because I find it narrow minded and I like to prove that stereotyping people based on one or two bad interactions, or word of mouth, is stupid. It is a parent's job to bring up their child to accept themselves, and I think the author of that article has a lot of self loathing issues to deal with that his parents never taught him to work through.
