Even assuming that you're correct, that's an acceptable excuse because of why?

Ah, yes. This particular hypocrisy is probably my favorite one to observe from the left.

It's almost as bad as the 'war on christianity'. At least that's a war on a religion fought without cruise missiles.

I'm quietly waiting for someone to bring up college admissions and afffirmative action >_<.
For fun I always wanted to do a list/grouping of all the forum lingo of how the anti-Obama talk evolved over the years and his nicknames (like Big B.O., O'Bummer, Obambi, Obomber ect) before the next election.
I remember back in the day when they used to call him a closet Muslim, foreign national, terrorist sympathizer, the "one-termer", "worst president except for Carter", "gonna take all your guns", "anti-Semite" ect. You don't hear that much anymore ;P

Some people in my school actually believed he was the anti-christ...sadly, not surprising when you take into account where I live...

I never said one word about discrimination. I said bigotry.
And really, the bigotry I was responding to was towards Americans, although I used christians as another example.

I think people have the tendency to lump the crazy, dogmatic evangelical Christians with the perfectly normal, moderate Christians that are too afraid of dying to not be religious.

Considering that the instances people are usually talking about are commonly Christians imposing their views on others, it does not apply. The ACLU has defended christians' right to freedom of religion as well.
There is no double standard. However, it is very true that there should be more protections in place to defend minority viewpoints for fear of hivemindedness.

Meaning what? That people aren't open/respectful of their beliefs? Because I'm not sure where you got that idea from either.

Haven't been on TL for a while, but gems like this make me glad to be back. I love the way they dance on top the bus that says special lol. That bus is special alright. Seriously, if they wanna compare enthusiasm for the four candidates, Ron Paul wins hands down. Hell Gingrich had to cancel a rally in Georgia on (or the day before) super-Tuesday, where he somehow had enough support to win it. . . GAME ON.

Racists have rationalizations like this too. For example, they could change your words and say:
"Except it's black males who commit the majority of violent crimes in the country. They are attacked because of their behavior, not because it's a social minority."
See how rationalizing bigotry works? How about we just avoid attacking or stereotyping people altogether? There are good and bad in EVERY group.

Personally, I have always thought that the Jews are a perfect of case study of how this works and how badly it can end.
