I was like "did they change the name of this place without me noticing!?" This folks is why you don't give gift cards as presents...

It kind of looks like you took some sort of lettuce, cut it in half, put it onto a grill for a few seconds, than added a slice of toast and put some grated cheese on top of it. I am not quite certain why anyone would do that, though.

I know it would of been no or minimal tip if the manager hadn't offered dessert but since he tried to make good (even if it's with something I didn't really want) do I tip as if I got good service (~20-30%) or since despite the dessert, the experience was generally bad, is a reduced tip still appropriate? Did the manager offer the free dessert, or did the bad waiter? If the waiter did, then you might want to consider a tiny tip because he realized he screwed up. If the manager did, then don't tip because the waiter didn't earn it; the manager offered you it because he's hoping you come back another time.

Edit: And it has the shredded cheese but no caesar dressing...?

Kinda depends on what kind of table you're talking about. At a fancy 100$+ dinner, great service is expected, its part of the price, of the 'experience'. At some cheap dinner like Fridays, the Keg, or w/e...where waiters have to deal with fast rolling orders, service just cant be the same. To expect to be treated like a king is unrealistic. And no, a 100$ bill at the Keg because you decided to drink 10 beers doesn't qualify. I usually tip 15% regardless, in part due to the fact that in Canada waiter's salary (baseline) is lower than minimum wage to take into account the extra money coming in from tips. And also because tips are usually split between all waiters and busboys, so it seems be unfair to punish all of them. If the food is great and the service is lacking, I'll prolly eat there again, but I'll complain about poor service. If both are lacking, then I just wont go back. Edit: Rereading what you said, I would need clarification about the 'bad attitude' part. It might change the leniency of my answer ![]()

I was writing post on the Chrome, and it was like bleep bleep bleep blipblipblipblip, and then, like, my entire post was gone. And I was like, ".....hungh? It devoured...my post..." It was a really good post. And then I had to write it again and I had to do it fast so it wasn't as good. It's kind of...a bummer...

It's pretty bullshit and highly variable. Minimum wage is in the $6-$7 range for most "low level" jobs. Except for service industry--which can go as low to $2 for a lot of states. If you don't tip the $1-$3 on average for most small purchases you literally cut their pay by almost half. Hence why I pay 10% minimum for bad service.
