Let me tell you about TvZ in the diamond league. No, let me tell you about the mu's.

TvT feels like two playing chess with a 128x128 board with twice the capital pieces, triple the movement options for each piece and each piece combines with all the others, transformer style, to make up new interesting pieces. (Except for the Raven, it's our detector and it still doesn't fit the army.) It doesn't matter whether you are a high APM player or a tactician, or a straight-up player, or a cheeser - it's still fun to play. No build is considerably worse than the other, no style is inferior. You can literally open up with any unit from rax or fac (except for the tank, but they are awesome anyway) and still win the game against most openings - as long as you are the better player.

TvP feels like fencing. Two able-bodied champions meet in a contest of strength and endurance. There aren't that many options, just a great deal of attacks and counters - the strength of mm against forcefields, the mobility of stalkers against the slowing powerful marauders, the power of voidrays against the number of marines and bunkers, the mighty colossi countered vikings and mmm with HT. The list goes on and on. The games are linear, but at every point there's a chance that one player fails to counter, and the other thrusts for the heart to take the game. And when you do, you feel like a champion.

Now to talk about ZvT... Perhaps you're a low-APM player, or macro-oriented, or you prefer MMM, or you like tactical encounters. Well, fuck-a-doodle-doo. We can have none of that. First second of the game, get up in the Z's face. Marine rush, reaper rush, hellion rush. You want to kill the Z by rushing? What do you think this is, 2010? Just know when to run away or you'll be utterly decimated. All that massive multitasking feat was supposed to achieve is to delay droning a bit. And once that's done, send in the second wave. Better have a drop, or banshee, or hellion follow-up or the Z still drone's up. But be careful, if you delay 2 seconds too long the Z can just baneling bust you, so you'd better get your buildings placing done, bunkers up, tanks positioned and siege mode ready. Done all that?, well, now break it all up and go push because otherwise the Z will drone up. Oh, and hear those wings flapping. It's muta. Better make turrets while pushing, and have small group of marines running around your base, hotkeyed. Oh, you're not stimming with your push? And sieging tanks well? And splitting marines at the same time. Well, I guess you die now. Here come the lings and banelings... Oh, you're still alive? Did you do damage? Killed a few drones, a hatch and a queen? Well done, but now the broodlords are out. Did you balance your medivac, viking ratio? No? Well you die then. Oh, you did. Well done, did you focus-fire the brood lords, while unsieging tanks and resieging them right behind so the rolling banes don't decimate your marines? Oh, and still split them too? And focus fire the tanks and focus-fire the marines? And stutter step? Well, good, you did all that, then you can try to kill something with your remaining troops. Oh, hear that splash? That was the 2 baneling landmine that just killed all your marines... You're fucking dead. D E A D. And then then the Z laughs at you and tells you to l2p, because you weren't dropping and scanning and taking care of your raven... Well, enough is enough. End of rant.
