TRIPOLI, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Libya's anti-government protesters hanged two policemen in the eastern city of Al-Baida, Oea newspaper reported Friday on its website.
The two policemen who were trying to disperse protesters that swept the city on Wednesday were hanged after protesters managed to hold them, Oea newspaper reported on its website.
Meanwhile, the paper said that a group of protesters killed the managing director of AL-Galaa hospital in downtown Benghazi, Libya 's second largest city. The victim's body was tortured, it added.
This is bad. I won't ask myself why there's going to be much more force used by police/military. There is always a problem with angry mobs doing absolutely absurd things like that instead of just protesting. Now you understand why policeman/soldiers will shit their pants and shoot to kill in some cases. Unlike the police/army the mob is not coordinated, the mob is driven by fury, it does not think. God help if the police/army will become driven by fury or revenge wish or even worse... fear.
bro, they woulda shot and killed some protesters anyways.
iyad_elbaghdadi Iyad El-Baghdadi Let me say it again: Zwiya tribe is the main tribe in the oil producing areas; now say they will completely stop oil flow in 24 hrs #Libya
iyad_elbaghdadi Iyad El-Baghdadi Head of Zwiya tribe on Aljazeera live from #Tripoli issues ultimatum to #Gaddafi, in 24 hours we'll stop all oil exports from #Libya #Feb27
On one side this is very interesting for us as foreigners, on another this is going to be very bloody, Gaddafi is much tougher than other dictators (or at least i view him as so).
Keep posting, insane news. You grow up taking it as a given that the Arab world is ruled by dictators and that people have no real power (both there and in the West) and then it all comes tumbling down.
And after scanning through news articles and twitter feeds, it seems Libya may be won soon. Multiple large prisons have been released, army troops are turning to the protester's sides, the largest tribes from around the region (over 1.5 mil people) have joined with the protesters as well, the tribe that controls the oil has threatened to cut off all oil exports unless violence on protesters stop, and apparently Benghazi, the second largest city and the one where most of the protesting began, is now in the hands of protesters and their military allies! http://news.blogs.cnn.com/2011/02/20/libyan-ambassador-to-arab-leauge-resigns/
