The new destroyers keep the same role as existing hulls - anti-frigate platform. However they use alternate weapon systems to reach that goal, which means drones and missiles. Next to the existing destroyers, they have slightly less mobility, more signature radius, less capacitor but have a bit better EHP and increased damage projection due to the weapon types they use. Price will be the same than for existing destroyers. AMARR DESTROYER: The Amarr destroyer is designed to take down opposition through indirect means. On the downside, the damage is nothing to write home about, but the combination of energy disruption ability plus drone control makes it dangerous at shutting enemy frigates off, then finishing them properly when they're helpless. It also has quite a generous dronebay, for multiple drone replacements. I cruise around looking for something to kill. Suddenly, a Slicer appears. Now, I know that sounds like a suicidal fight, however, I'm not completely terrible, and have a Tracking Disruptor on my Atron. I can do this as long as I keep out of 13k (roughly where he will be able to start hitting me with a TD applied), and obviously within 28k (OH t2 point range). I am faster than him by only a few hundred m/s, so it'll be tough, but I think I can do it. A single screw-up on an OH cycle can spell defeat in a fight like this. It's a stupid fight to attempt, but it is doable. I like taking on these stupid fights, because it forces me to fly well. There's nothing more satisfying than winning when you are the underdog. And it gives you more confidence in "even" fights. Since we're near a station, I need to make sure he agresses me, otherwise he could simply dock up. Therefore, I don't activate my TD when I engage him. At this point, I'm keeping about 24k from him. He shoots, taking out my shields in a single volley. I put my TD on him, and I know that he must have shit his pants when he saw the TD activate, because he didn't do anything for a few seconds (and I got a whiff of it). He tries a quick slingshot on me, but I react quickly enough, and he barely scratches me before I pull a bit of range. I'm preparing for him to try to slingshot me again, because if he succeeds, I'll die in a matter of seconds. I'm just getting him into structure when he disappears from my overview. Curious, did I kill him in one volley at that point? Maybe. But his pod didn't appear on my overview? And then everything else disappears from my overview, but he reappears. OH SHIT, FUCKING GRID-FU Instinctively, I try to get a lock on him, but he barely warps out in time. ![]() No Slicer for me tonight. GG CCP. | ||
