Is anyone in here willing to lend his beta access for a few hours today? I already have the client downloaded since I was invited last week, but I couldn't play because my PC didn't work anymore and I had to buy a new mainboard.

What do you guys think about the viability of an all-Trooper PvE group? I have a static party that thinks it would be pretty amusing, but I only spent an hour in the beta so I haven't had a chance to try it out.

One advantage is that troopers are allegedly able to be specced for any of the three trinity roles, so in theory you could have a functionally complete group with a common story you could all discuss and concurrently experience. However, a related disadvantage is you wouldn't actually be able to do the story quests together because iirc only one member of each class can enter a story quest at a given time.

Another advantage is that between the four troopers you could be very crafting self-sufficient (with each trooper choosing one of armormech, armstech, biochem, and cybertech). The flip side to this coin, though, is that you're now having to split dropped trooper loot four ways. This downside is tempered somewhat by Bioware's decision to give each player a "loot bag" upon completing normal level flashpoints, but it will still be an issue outside of that situation.

Those of you who have more experience in the beta, do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages of such a group (counting the awesomeness of a four-trooper squad as a huge advantage, of course)?

About the all-trooper guild: I levelled 2 troopers: a lvl 20 commando and a lvl 20 vanguard, and I can tell you that an all trooper guild could be possible and there are already a couple of them. I think that if the guild is composed by very active crafters the advantages will greatly outway the disadvantages as items and loot goes, but I'm not 100 per cent sure.

I definitely think I'm going to get this. Are there any plans for a TL guild? I don't really want to play if I have no one to hop on teamspeak or ventrilo and play with!

Well... any class that is a heavy force user will have issues when their main attacks are taken away. The only times I ever ran out of force(mana) as an inquisitor was while healing against raid bosses (at a low level and not specced into any healing talents too). Your biggest issues will come from maximizing your distance from enemies and minimizing the amount of enemies you fight at once - sometimes running away entirely in bad situations. They are not meant to be taking a lot of attacks out in the open. I personally like playing these types of classes more since I feel a solid thinking player can play them very well and it's rewarding winning battles from outsmarting others.

So far after i lvl my immortal jugger to 30 , the game is better with this build.

Pvp as concept is rather boring unless in pvp servers more outdoor battles will happen.

Pvp gameplay , feels a lot more balance than warhammmer or daoc and ofc wow , feels good as well i must say .

Juger for instance starts crap and becomes uber. No it doesnt deal tons of dmg but can handle such. Pretty much with some heals one can feel invisible.

The archetypes will be like warhammer more or less , meaning tank archetypes like juggernaut - trooper wont deal dmg in the end and dpsers wont tank.

This is just hype , you cant be tank healer as smugler no way or a dps healer sorcerer. Take it as it is love it or not this is the case and lvl 50 videos around the net pretty much confirm this.

Overall if you liked wow you like swtor since thyr pretty much similar or rather of how warhammer could have been with much better pve and less ae in pvp.

I've got invited to the beta twice in a row and leveled a Jedi Sentinel to about 12 and an Operative to 20.

Overall the game seems pretty fun, similar to WoW in terms of mechanics but at the same time pretty refreshing. Instances seem challenging, and pvp seems VERY teamwork-oriented(talking about warzones here). I'm just in such a toss up because I don't want to buy this and play for a month only to have Diablo 3 come out(I played it at Blizzcon and had a blastttttttt). I wish we'd know the release date on that already

+1, have already pre-ordered my copy, but would love to know any changes (if any) they have made.
This game definitely has a lot of potential, so I am looking forward to seeing the future patches they make after release.

Nothing huge changed, just bug fixes. The combat felt a little bit smoother due to them fixing a few small bugs with a few spells ( like being able to get 2 1.5 sec heals off from a cooldown that should only give 1 .. stuff like that ). You can't use a 100% mount until lvl 40 now ( 90% mount still at 25 ).They added a few nice tweaks to the UI as well, just things that give you a bit more info on hp bars and tooltips, stuff like that. Nothing else really big I noticed. Overall the game felt like it was finished to me, I only noticed one bug all weekend ( played at least 20 hours ) and that was just something being mispelled .. no lag .. no crashing .. just smooth game play.

I should add as a disclaimer, all I have done is questing, storyline, and flash points no pvp ( up to about level 40 for SI ). So I can't speak toward the entire game.

So no plans for a TL guild? Would be nice to find a relaxed, mature guild of people who still know how to play well.

I wanna play the Powertech class when the game is released. I have not read anything about this game so I can't judge if this class is good or not. Can somebody who played it talk a bit about how it works etc? I want to tank instances but also do damage (what I did in WoW :D), so maybe someone could draw an comparison.
How is the damage in comparison to other classes? Thanks

Ah while I haven't heard much about it I would imagine its the same way, having to pay to switch characters to different servers. Would surprise me if they made it free tbh

I can't make up my mind if I want to wait for an Australian release date to be announced (it wont be out here on the 20th ) or if I should just order from Amazon and get it shipped over at a little extra cost.


Going to be playing a SW, Juggernaut - Tanking it up baby.

Played a little bit of my girlfriend's beta account and got up to level 20 - I am so addicted to the game and I'm having withdrawal symptoms already.


Any other Aus / NZ players anxious for swtor?
