Before you thing "wow what a pillock for asking a dumb question" hear me out: I love KOTOR and KOTWOR. But the thing is that there hasn't been a third game, and a Star Wars MMO looks to be pretty cool, but does the single-player stack up well? If I enjoy other Bioware RPGs, will this just feel like a (necessarily) watered-down version of one of their already excellent games, or does it MMO (will it blend?) pretty nicely? Obviously when you're making a game as big as what I assume this is, the content has to be spread pretty thin.
I guess another factor is how playable this game is without a guild, because I'll most likely have a few friends that might level with me, and then they will predictably quit. If you want a KOTOR 3 then SWTOR is the wrong game for you. They put a lot of effort into the single player story lines and they are probably better than in any other MMO. But if you played KOTOR before you will be disappointed. How playable is this game without a guild? You can play PvP solo or with friends you find along the way. There is ranked solo queue for pvp, so basically you can go up to the top without ever joining a guild. With regards to PvE, it always used to be very guildless-unfriendly. Raids were 8 and 16 men, and it was always very difficult (read: impossible) for a random to find a spot in a top-tier raid. Leave alone top-tier, it's still very difficult to find a spot in any raid. Maybe something has changed, I haven't played it for over a half year now, and before that I've been huge PvP addict with very little interest for PvE. Finding 4 for a group/flashpoint in PvE is very easy without a guild for sure. It's easy, still it's anything but top-tier or even mid-tier content. Very shortly after hitting level cap you are steamrolling flashpoints, and all you have left after that are 8 and 16 men raids. It's nearly impossible to join a group for anything but some casual low-tier operations, basically if you want to progress in PvE regard after hitting max level and doing flashpoints for about a week, you just have to join a PvE guild for a spot in a raid group. Well then you just start from zero again.
