I know fuck I wish someone would make EU star wars mmo or something. The vong would be an epic series of games/show/movies like anything would really love it to happen one day xD

The expanded universe rise of the New republic alone could just make for an amazing anything if they wanted to and plenty of conflicts and good and bad victories all over the place. Sadly, I don't think we'll ever see such a thing anytime soon.

I know trust me it depresses me as its so epic I love those book series :D

Woohoo only took like 5 days after Fruscainte said he was done posting in this thread to be back, saying how great GW2 is , and how trash SWTOR is!!!

Wat
Someone asked if we had any experience with the game and I dropped the info that I played it and it was pretty decent. I was explicitly asked of my experience with that game. I'm not even that hyped for GW2, and I don't want to make this a discussion on GW2 (as I've said a multitude of times) -- it's a SWTOR thread, let's keep it that way. I agree that this shouldn't turn into a "SWTOR vs GW2" thread at all. It's pathetic to argue which video game is better, it's like arguing whose dad can beat up the other dad.
I was posting something from my friend whom is extremely high level in the beta saying how Imperials get completely shafted and EVERY one of your choices matters for completely naught. Christ dude, what is your problem? I'm not even trashing this game, I was asking for confirmation if what my friend is saying is even true from someone else who may have high level Imperial experience. Chill the fuck out yo.
I'm posting completely legitimate posts. If what I posted last page is true, that the Imperials get shafted in every possible way and there is NOTHING you can do about it, it's fucking stupid and needs to be addressed. That doesn't make me a GW2 fanboy, that doesn't make me a "SWTOR hater", it makes me someone who wanted to try out the Imperials and doesn't want to get fucked over in my story in a game that praises story as a primary focus.
I'm posting my opinion on a video game, not insulting your mother. How about we all just take a step back and take a chill pill, and handle this a little more like adults, yeh? Perhaps I've used a bit too much hyperbolic statements, and perhaps you have been a little offensive. Whatever, who cares, it's the internet. Let's just agree to handle this without mindless insulting, however, mmkay? Please? I apologize if I have offended you in ANY way. If you feel so inclined to take everything I say as you do, at least take it to PM instead of messing up the thread with your personal disdain* of me.

lol dude like 2 days ago u were talking about how you would NEVER EVER play SWTOR, because of how bad it is and the fact that you need to pay to play it... you even said thats why you're waiting for a "certain buy to play game"(aka GW2). Then after you say you wouldn't be posting in this thread anymore, you show up as soon as GW2 is mentioned, start to give it accolades, then talk about how fucked up the story is in SWTOR if you choose imperial side. You've been making posts like this for like 6 months just hating on the game since like page 3 of this thead.

I have explicitly stated I have played Beta, quite a bit actually on my and friends accounts in the past and relative present, along with free weekends.
because of how bad it is and the fact that you need to pay to play it... you even said thats why you're waiting for a "certain buy to play game"(aka GW2).
I will never play it when it's released because I don't like paying for games I already bought, we already had this discussion and it's not the thread for it. Drop it. And yes, I'm keeping an eye on GW2. What of it? This is also not the thread for it. Stop changing the subject =/
Then after you say you wouldn't be posting in this thread anymore, you show up as soon as GW2 is mentioned, start to give it accolades, then talk about how fucked up the story is in SWTOR if you choose imperial side. Actually, I showed up multiple posts before that with a lengthy post explaining how Imperials get shafted hardcore.
Also, "accolades"? I said I played it for 30 minutes and it was pretty fucking decent, but I won't get too hyped for it -- it has potential to fail but I got high hopes so far. Again, this is not the Guild Wars 2 thread -- stop trying to make it into that discussion. I'm talking about how Imperials apparently get completely fucked over in the story in a game that has been appraised for it's storytelling, and I think that needs to be properly addressed by Bioware and changed in the future perhaps even. I was asking for confirmation from someone else with a high level Imperial for a fact check on what I said. That's all I've been asking for.
Let's please handle this like adults, again. You are getting far too heated over a discussion on a video game, what is, essentially, 1's and 0's. If you have a personal problem with me, or my opinions -- take it to PM. I will gladly talk to you, in depth, about what I think there. However, this is NOT the thread for it. I don't know how I have offended you to the extent you are attacking me, but I apologize for it. So yeah, please don't turn this into a personal attack thread. I ask of you to please solve whatever issue you have with me personally, not in this thread. It's not the place for it.
EDIT: Again, I don't want to bash this game or come off as a basher. I really love Star Wars, and I really love the genre.

That raises my hopes a bit, I must admit.
I just hope my friend was just fucking with me when he said all that crap, because if it's true, I will be quite livid Because I may just cave in and pay for a month or two of this a few months after release after they do a lot of patching and shit, just because.

As long as the story is entertaining and engaging I don't care if the Republic or Empire loses, at least it tells me they aren't done telling the story. It would be like Empire Strikes Back being the end of the movies and the alliance not fighting back and Han being left in carbonite.
Personally the way a story is told is what matters than how the story ends.

That would have been ONE hell of a cliffhanger lol

I can respect that
I just don't like hearing when SWTOR was announced all that "Fourth Pillar" stuff and how players will influence the world so much, and all of that and finding out that players really have no effect on the story. I'm fine with not having a choice, but when I am promised I will -- it miffs me a bit. But hey, if the story is great, who cares, like you said, at the end of the day.

Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I'm looking to join a West Coast PvP guild that allows both casual and hardcore gamers, preferably with an older crowd (I'm in my mid-twenties) and a laid back yet experienced leader. Either faction is cool.
Please PM me if you're looking for recruits!

I felt the same way until I switched to the Imperial Agent. A conversation unfolded, one thing led to another, and BAM, shit went down that I'd never expected! That said I'll never play a predictable class again, like the Sith.

Ive played the game for a while now have over i would say 72 hours of game time my highest lvl is a 39 sith maurader and i like the game yes it has the same mmoish stuff.... but it delivers it in a new way that actually keeps me entertained. this game isnt going to over throw wow or anything but it is a good mmo that if the developers care about (which they do or they wouldn't of wasted so much money making) it be around for a while. plus light sabers!!! lol

I've got a question, are any of the classes showing signs of being stupidly overpowered? Usually games like these have one or two really broken classes and it would be good to know beforehand.
Same question for which class is useless.

Heard that most are using inquisitor in PvP, simply because it deals the most dmg. Dunno how accurate this it though.

I think most are using inquisitor because it's the most fun to play in general. I put the most time into playing inquisitor over the beta weekends specifically for that reason. And through my hours in PvP, I did not notice them being overpowered. If you can get up close to an inquisitor, they are very weak (at least up to level 20 there isn't much they can do up close other than the Overload pushback, and one short-lived CC - I do not know anything about inquisitors beyond level 20 since I didn't level beyond it).
|
i dont like the inquisitor line of classes, once their mana is depleted they cant do much for the rest of the fight.
I will probably roll an Operative. Main resource regens fast of managed properly, secondary resource available. Can be tank healer or raid stabalizer or can also be melee dps with stabby attacks. What more could i want :D
