I have no idea where my friend got this from, but yeah. Some beta footage he(?) compiled in the past few days. Password is "vidya" to watch it.

Honestly, I do hope they fix this shit. I really do want this game to succeed at the end of the day, because I love the notion of a Star Wars MMO --- however this kind of stuff just CAN'T fly. Either fix it, or just remove it; I never understood the premise of lots of cutscenes in an MMO. This kind of...I don't even know what to call it should not be in a game that should have the level of production value this game should. If that makes sense.

And before someone pulls the "ITS IN BETA" card on me, remember this: Alpha is when the game is finished, Closed Beta is when the minor kinks are worked out and the bugs are for the most part fixed. Open Beta is 100% purely stress testing servers, or at least it -should- be. This game is released in less than what, 3 weeks? These kinds of glaring issues should not be in the game still =/

I hope your friend made bug reports on these issues. They don't seem all that big of a deal really. Very minor animation glitches that open beta is ment to catch. If they go unfixed then ya its bad but meh, it IS A beta.

Lt. Jorgan in his very first cut scene is 1 inch tall lol!

Yes, of course he did.

I just think it's rather...unprofessional, for the animations to be in this state this close to release. And of course I stick to my guns in thinking that saying "It's just Beta!" is the biggest cop-out ever.

Also, some of that stuff was, by no means "minor." It was stuff that should not have even been allowed to still be an issue in the Alpha, let alone 3 weeks before release.

If you didn't like how the game looks now its not going to change and I hope it doesn't as I love it now unless they made the fighting better. Otherwise this is awesome :D

I think you didn't even watch the video...? Unless you have an affinity for completely immersion breaking bugs and glitches.

No I didn't,

Then, I must inquire, why did you comment on a video...if you did not watch the video?

*confused*

Because its just a bunch of bugs from what I saw and from experience of playing all weekend I saw no bugs so not worried about it. Not going to go download a video would rather watch it on youtube if you are going to link a video.

But it is a beta. What we played and some still get to play is not done yet. Sure the game is being sent out for packaging shipping already but that doesn't mean they cann't and won't fix the problems. If those problems exist into release then its a problem but as of right now, I am not concerened and stand behind Biowares fantastic track record for quality

It's common knowledge in the practice that 3 weeks before release Open Beta is not when you should be fixing glaring issues such as this. This is the time to stress test servers and make sure when you got 1 million people playing on Day 1 that your servers don't get fucked over and to make sure shit doesn't tear at the seams at release. This is some very basic and obvious syncing, glitching, and just outright unprofessional bugs that should not be in the game at this stage. If they fix them all by release? Yeah sure, great, good job Bioware. However, it does not bode well if these kinds of things are still (relatively) common this close to release.

Also, you just essentially said "I don't care if the game is bad at release, I have faith in Bioware that they will release patches to fix the game!" Relying on day 1, 2, or 3 patches to fix the game and make it to a level that it should have been at release only hurts a company and a release as major as this. And Bioware's recent track record is not that great, either, unfortunately =/

And before someone jumps at my throat, I am not here to bash this game. I am providing in-game videos of these bugs in hopes of the community, and furthermore Bioware become aware of the state that some of the stuff in this game is STILL in. Some people have this fantasy that the word "Beta" means "Unfinished." No, Alpha and Pre-Alpha is the assembly. Beta is the paint job and polishing.

You do beta tests when you feel software is fully functional and are looking for bugs which cause annoyance. I haven't had time to watch the video, but as long as the game is playable, they're fine. Plus, who's to say many of these bugs weren't created or exacerbated by the open beta itself?

Either way, I don't think you even have solid ground to criticize and are just trying to create a ruckus.

I agree with this.

It does.
You've just played too many Blizzard games.
For most games, that doesn't have a billiondollar company backing them, beta does mean really unfinished and broken.
(SWTOR has a billiondollar company backing them though so their standards should perhaps be higher but I don't even care to discuss that, point is that beta usually means unfinished even though huge companies sometimes do it just for PR.)

I loved the amount of proffesions that were available i found that really cool. And for people that complain that you just get your companions to do the work. Well what do you actually have to do in mmo's for proffesions. You press a button and watch a bar go up for crafting, and yoou still scavenge / harvest materials for your proffesions anyways. I loved the choices though, i chose to be a black market dealer , an armormech(or w/e they call it) and a scavenger (i think thats the name) i really really liked how i could just send my companion to go off and do something while i was running around a city picking up quests or doing quests within a city that didnt require much combat. I think the companion system is one of my favourite parts of the whole game , gotta catch em all gotta catch em all :D

I was thinking of pre-ordering but then I read the part where it says the early access is based how early you submitted your pre-order code. So is there any info how many days do you get early access if you'd pre-order the game now. I fear by now you'll probably get day or two which makes me rather wait and get the game for cheaper after launch.

We don't know, as far as I know at least they haven't announced the details about who gets in when, all we know is that the headstart will be 5 days before launch, so a few days before launch for people registering codes now seems about right.

You get to play at least one day before the launch, regardless you submit the code. If you have submitted it way earlier, you most likely get 4-5 day head start(five is max). This info from my friend who has been following this stuff.

...What?

You type in the password and you watch the video right there. No downloading required.

I'm so confused right now, I can't even explain.

I link a video showing some pretty glaring issues, and point out that these types of things don't bode well if they are still a problem THIS close to release -- and everyone jumps at my throats saying I'm trying to "start a ruckus" or whatever. Christ. The only legitimate responses I've seen as well were either "They'll patch it!" or "It's Beta, so it's okay if it's completely bugged out!"

It's legitimate criticism to point out the things that were in that video. Some of it may have been not necessary to put in, but a lot of it contains glaring issues that honestly is completely unprofessional for how hyped this game is, how much funding it has got, etc.

I'll actually contact support and see if can you squeeze anything about them relating to the early game access.

As for Fruscainte(can't look at the video now) I encountered various bugs and glitches & crashes during my weekend test. The launch isn't really that far away(even read I don't need to re-install the client) and the amount of stuff I reported I'm not really sure 2 weeks will be enough for them to fix everything. This leads to what I'm still wondering is how MMOs seem to get away with this. Launches are often not very pleasant experiences and bug infested(even some single players have had launch day patches and fixes which seems to becoming rule rather than the expectation) and because "it will be patched" hardly justifies this. I don't see how game, which is probably already the most expensive game to the date, developed by BioWare can really be in such situation with few weeks prior to launch.

I'm most likely going to finish storylines for certain classes, the Imperial Agent was atleast not a straight copy from some WoW classes(heyoo Jedi Shadow) and healer commando was pretty cool really, and leave the game at that. Seems to be like this for many others which is rather sad, hopefully BioWare has something up their sleeve 'cause otherwise that game could see losses in subs. I probably am not the only one who'd rather just take KOTOR 3.

Keeping in mind that there is absolutely no addon support, no global LFG, hideous travel times to Flashpoints, grouping unfriendly quests and questlines, "WAITING FOR PLAYERS... " ,you cant even play with your friends the first couple of hours -- yeah the game has a couple of dumb design decisions.

It can be reasonably successful, I have heard EA would be happy with 1 million subscribers. I can not see them having more after a couple of months. February is when the first free 30 days are over, so we'll have to see how many resubscribe.

I will actually get the game, I think, and enjoy it for a bit, but I am not seeing a worthy successor of the MMORPG genre here at all. It's basically Bioware trying to design a single player game with basic MMORPG functionality, and it's just a bad idea to start with.

Where did you hear/read this? Could you give me some sources. I haven't read much about the game, but this sounds extremely stupid and very unlikely. And if you mind, can you specify what you mean exactly by "support" here? Thanks!

e. I asked about the "support" and apparently there WILL BE addon support AFTER THE LAUNCH. Nothing else has been said though.

Ugh, I'm so confused. Played a Jedi Sentinel to 21, had a lot of fun, but I dunno. This game seems so story driven that I can't see myself subscribing for this. What happens when you complete the story? The quests are so closely knitted into the story that I foresee myself running out of stuff to do after maybe 3 months max, and compared to other MMOs, it doesn't seem like I have much stuff to do at higher levels exept PvPing and grinding out gear. The fighting is pretty fun, although it uses a pretty standard MMO style, same thing with the space missions which were pretty good as well.

About bugs:
I didn't really experience too many problems. The big problems i remember was that in some early quests before you became a knight, one of the jedi masters suddenly became a midget and whenever she spoke, the camera was just zoomed in on her chair. Also i got stuck multiple times on Taris while running around, and had to /stuck and respawn in a safe zone before it fixed it self. I had a few times where sound effects were missing in cutscenes and the characters lips didn't move, but other than that, I saw very few problems when I played. I guess it varies a lot from class to class.

About bugs in general for PC launches: they are EXTREMELY difficult to adress and solve before launch. Look at skyrim, for example. If the bugs in that game made it into an MMO, it would have been a disaster. The whole developing process these days is that of triage. Some bugs they HAVE to leave in order to meet deadlines. This is what we're seeing now, mostly graphical and syncing issues that do nothing more than annoy some people.

Now, if you have a video that shows selling things to vendors for 10,000 credits at level 2 from drops, or an entire area swiss cheesed with invisible holes in the ground, then by all means complain that it's unplayable and piss all over Bioware. However, if you're only finding things that make it too annoying for YOU to play, let us know about it and piss off.

I wonder if the early release stuff will be closely staggered so everybody gets in 3-5 days earlier.

It's hilarious because this paragraph basically shows you didn't watch the video and are just ranting out of misinformation.

I'd say the completely white ground with grid marks is well beyond "swiss cheesed with invisible holes in the ground" considering that the whole ground and world, aside from an NPC, is gone. It reminded me of that one Matrix scene right before the rows of guns.

Played for a few days over the weekend beta and found healing to be quite rewarding in the first instance, I actually felt integral because of my CC on top of my ability to heal combined with timing when to lay down AoE destruction to just sort out problems before I had to healbot. I played a Commando in case anyone is curious.

The solo content was enjoyable and with the voice acting I actually felt interested in the missions and story rather than just having a text box with blurbs about lore and why I should go collect 5 somethings for this guy.

My only complaint is grouping. There is no global LFG so if you want to do a flashpoint/instance you basically have to hang around it hoping there are enough other players hanging around to form a group. Also the travel time is a bit ridiculous as there is no port to flashpoint option. So if one of your party happens to be on coruscant for example, your whole group has to wait a long time while they travel to join you. I honestly felt like I was back in vanilla WoW days and Im rather surprised they opted to basically ignore all the innovations to grouping easily that every MMO of note has done for the past year or more.

Overall though I plan to pick this up sometime after december (money is tied up with xmas and wont have much time to play anyway) and play for at least 3-6 months. The story is just too engaging for someone that likes Starwars and if the other characters are as interesting as the commando then I see a lot of replayability with alts.

Just my 2c, hope it helps anyone deciding.

no global LFG

Thats one of the best features. I hope this keeps the WoW-Kiddies out!

I'm curious, does anyone know how they'll be handling regions? Are they going to keep it like it was in beta or is there going to be a US/EU/etc split of the realms?
