Reached AR39 now and holy shit do you need to farm a loooot of mats to upgrade phase 5. All the other times I could do a bit of pre farming and getting my first team upgraded pretty fast after getting to a new world level. But not this time. If not for the patch in a few days I probably would quit after AR40. Grind is getting to me. Imagine them doing updates quartely or sth. Her main damage source is physical, so you may also want to play around with superconduct reactions (electro + ice) to boost her damage. Leveling Barbara a bit is fine. Ideally, you want to level her just enough so that she doesn't die, slap a bunch of random +HP artifacts on her, and maybe level up her E. Her passive talents are kinda meh. Don't go crazy, resources are limited. Double hydro gives you increased healing. It's a garbage resonance. If possible, only run one of Xingqiu/Barbara. Xingqiu will be better in most serious team comps, but having a dedicated healer is extremely useful when exploring. It's hard to imagine what the game looks like without having Barbara available. The Xingqiu Chongyun combo should let you do some freeze/shatter reaction stuff. It's supposed to be pretty good and has built in cc, but I haven't looked into it much since I have neither. Energy recharge is for ults, yes. Given enough uptime on Bennett ult, you may not need Barbara in there. His heal is that good. Xiangling/Bennett has been a mainstay in my abyss teams. | ||

I guess you could run Amber? She won't do much, but it'll give you fire resonance, gliding stamina, and some puzzle solving at least. Most people don't level the MC. Since swirl scales off of level and EM, this means the anemo MC does pretty meh damage. The ult is mostly annoying IMO since it pulls enemies away from you - the only time I really used it was to make enemies fall off the map. Geo MC is mostly there for damage, but does have the cheese factor on their skill. | ||

Main reason I'm putting thought into this now is it seems everyone recommends only focusing on a few characters to level and I didn't want to spread my xp too thinly. I think you just need to think about goals. Spiral Abyss takes elemental weaknesses/maximizing elemental mechanics and two parties, so that's going to be a slow burn for you. Exploration is kinda whatever because you can slap most things with just one DPS of any sort (as long as you have fire somewhere). Also healing is less of a premium because food exists. Story stuff is likewise relatively whatever because you can slap most things with one DPS. Similarly, healing is less of a premium because food exists. Later Domains are a giant PITA but you can coop them so you just want to make sure you have someone who's not completely dead weight. In that sense, as Spazer mentioned you can kinda faff around with like an unleveled Amber and such. It's only when you turn your sights to Spiral in earnest that you start really maximizing characters, but there's no real avoiding that you end up needing a handful of characters eventually just to deal with the different types of enemies/compositions, so... And it's optional content that you don't really need to worry much about, so... play what you enjoy playing, for the most part. | ||

If you have a DPSer like Keqing or Diluc who primarily use electro/fire with their Q/E attacks, get electro or fire DMG% artifacts. | ||

 Well I accidentally rolled Qiqi this weekend, so needless to say my plans have changed. I want to replace Barbara because the damage is so much better, but there are places where her ranged elemental auto really helps. Just not so much the spiral abyss so Qiqi it is. I wanted to do stormterror a second time but damn it seems really hard for some reason. Should I focus on leveling my weapons first or my characters? My new team being Bennett Xiangling Fischl Qiqi. Everyone was just dying left and right, my revival food only lasted for so long. | ||

So for now at least my two teams are looking like: 1) Xiangling Kaeya Jean Fischl 2) Chongyun Xingqiu Barbara Sucrose Finally, tips for getting AR when out of resin? Just exploring/quests? Is it possible to get AR from finishing domains without collecting the final reward? | ||
