But what exactly counts as an alarm? Since if it's the alarmed state enemies go to when they think they might have seen something, I probably can't be bothered.
I believe this only counts the number of times enemies actually trigger the alarm panels on the walls. So they can spot you, even go hostile, but as long as no one calls for re-enforcements you should be ok. But I don't have it yet either, so what do I know? lol.

should i play on normal or hard difficulty? usually have no probs with hard modes in any rpg/fps but dunno how they tune it in this game.
like if it affects exp so i can unlock less stuff thats bad or if enemys are unrealisticly resilient that sucks also. if its mostly about how much dmg i take etc that would be ok.

It only keeps like 2 previous saves right? You'd have to go back a whole section or whatever. be totally lame. If it was a purely open world (ie: go anywhere anytime) then sure. You go "oh shit" get out and go find some. but because the dx3 experience is somewhat linear, there needs to be those kind of concessions made. Usually you can either hack them or the room has supplies to help you take them out. Skipping them is an option for the majority of time as well. spoiler about the robots i'm talking about + Show Spoiler + specifically the 2 robots at the hanger dock at the top of the building in hengsha. I didn't have enough ammo to kill them. I didn't have enough hacking skill to disable the robots via the console. i had no rockets or emp grenades left. If they didn't stash an emp nade in the draw in one of the upstairs buildings i would've been completely stuck.
+ Show Spoiler +Yep, and if you're the type that only uses Quick-save, you'd only have auto-saves to go back to. Not a fun situation at all
I really don't get this obsession with equating having to restart because you made mistakes beyond your own control with 'fun'. Having to replay missions in the old Warhammer games (Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen) over and over again, all because the random number generator felt like kicking you square in the balls this time, isn't what makes those games fun for me.
I would much prefer games that are less unfair and have more content, than ones that you can complete in 30 minutes if you get lucky, and 18 hours if not, which is what most games from the 80s and 90s were like. People really don't remember the length of old-school games very well.

Enemies do more damage, are far more accurate (pretty much 100%) and have a lot more health on Hard. You take more damage as well, and have a far slower HP regen. The bosses also have a shorter cooldown on some of their abilities.
The number of enemies is unchanged, as is their alertness and the XP gain from objectives or neutralising them.
1 Tranq/Stungun/headshot will still neutralise all enemies so you shouldn't have that much problems. Try doing it on hard. The bosses are at least challenging on that mode a little.

I actually found a door whose pass-code was 1337! + Show Spoiler +It was part of the first big mission after you get yours augs. I think it was at the end of the first big security hall, after the room that had the hostages. I should've taken screenshots ;-;

From what I've seen, it's deserved. I switched my playthrough videos to my 2nd channel, however. I love how the game rewards you for finding creative solutions to problems...makes me feel good about how I obsess over finding out if I can climb over EVERY fence.
I also spent a few hours running around Detroit collecting boxes / trash cans / barrels...made myself one hell of a fort outside of Serif Industries.
....I have no life.

I wanted to do something like that, but apparently the cops get pissed just from chucking things down the street, which is the fastest way of moving things around.

Yeah, they really slow down the process...I went around inside each building, brought everything out to the hallways...then the bottom floor...then outside in front of the complex. Once all the buildings on the street/alley were emptied, I moved all the stuff to the main street...and moved on to repeat the process until I had all kindsa crap littered around the main road. From there it was just run back-and-forth. a lot...
Fortunately i /netflix'd while performing this, so it wasn't THAT bad.

In case anyone is interested, I live in downtown detroit and I can assure you that every roadsign you see in Deus ex's Detroit is actually a real road
It was cool to see street names I use literally every day
I live right next to "Grand River" which is a huge road in real life and in deus ex xD

It is not as bad as deus ex makes it out to be lol
I get that a lot though.

this is bs i never even shot my gun during the play through except the boss fight and somehow i didnt get the pacifist achievement, even though i got the foxiest of hounds achievement. and of course i only knocked people out while tapping q.
+ Show Spoiler + was walter simons ever mentioned in the game? ive heard/read references to Page, Manderly, Denton, and even the grey death from a hobo at the basketball court. but i havnt found any references to him yet.

+ Show Spoiler +None that I could spot (other than Jensen's voice is eerily similar to Simons'.
At this point in the story he's nothing but a test-tube baby, isn't he? Being one of the first generation of nano-augmented test subjects along with the Dentons?

Maybe when you used Q they died to something else, such as falling off a ledge/into the sewer water/electric etc. Happened to my friend to cause an accidental death at least.

cool game.
The inventory/weapon pickup is real tedious and poorly made though, having to manually pickup ammo for weaps you already have and open inventory and drop weaps to have room for a new weap is so damn annoying.

I'm playing in hard and it is quite lame if you are used to PC fps and don't use the cover system. Boss fights are almost impossible if you don't do cheap stuff.
Same when you are fighting several several ennemies at the same time ( well i actually like this but for bosses it is REALLY lame ).
Typical boss fight without cover:
shot / inventory heal / typhoon / inventory energy / shot / inventory heal / typhoon / inventory energy etc... Really bad flow :/

Yeah hard doesn't really seem all that hard at all. I've only ever played one other fps in my entire life and had no trouble with it. Barrett was annoying, but for the other two boss fights it only took me 3-4 tries before they would bug out and let me pass for free >.>

thx for responses ~
cover system works quite good and i played me2 so its not my first cover shooting expirience.went with hard and am near the end of the first mission after the intro and did ok so far. no kills and just 3 darts fired.
but when you get spotted you def die lightning fast. if caught in the open im dead within the first 2-3 shots fired/withing half a second. and together with the rather long loading times thats abit annoying. but think ill go with it. overall it feels pretty good so far ~

Did you download the patch? It was updated last Thursday which brought the loading times down from 20 to 30s to around 5-10 seconds.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me, but I didn't get foxy either, probably due some decently early hack failure that I didn't notice activated alarm or something. I pretty much checked the bodies to be alive after stuns and such, so unless one of them bugged somehow there should have been no deaths. Only reason I can think of for death on my playthrough is + Show Spoiler +at the point where you can save Malik the mech exploded from emp and might have killed one of the knocked out soldiers. So yeah...
