I also found some rooms very hard to do that in.. using the gun, I can easily clear the room, but the enemies are too close to eachother to do takedowns and they see when someone is taken down by the rifle, so there's no way to take them down except possibly spamming tranq darts, which is not how I want to play.
You get a significant XP bonus at the end if you remain unseen through the entire level.
Sure. But what about taking down every enemy and still not being seen?
What would be needed is like... a per room XP bonus where if you don't touch an enemy AND isn't noticed, you get an XP boost which you don't get if you interact with enemies. Of course, it should be a huge boost or anything, but I don't want it to feel like I'm losing out on XP just because I don't want to beat the enemies down.
EDIT: I guess the game would be too simple at times though since the cloak augmentation would give some nice free XP later on I assume.

Going completely unseen gives points, and you get points for killing/incapacitating every enemy, so there you go.

Nah what I think he is talking about is extra points for doing the hardest thing which is to leave your opponent completely awake and unharmed and move onto the next area.
Also high level cloak does kind of break the game but nowhere near as bad as Crysis 2 where you could cut out enormous swathes of game by simply holding down W.
EDIT: I just realized that since takedowns take an energy slot when going the stealth route you are encouraged to skip rather than interdict. Damn this game is designed so well. I bet its designed so that running through blasting everything awards the same as various implementations of stealth and trickery, and I bet it is done well.

Since the energy regenerates, it's not a big issue though, unless your plan is to go in and takedown more than 1 enemy in a sequence.

Only the final block regenerates from complete use and takedowns use a full bar.
From what I've read, the completely stealth route is awarded by more XP. They even state something like that in one of the official videos, that the combat route is "easier" (more straightforward) and therefore there is less XP for that. I can remember it wrongly though...
I hope the difference is minimal, making one playstyle more efficient than others isn't very deus-exy.
Also what about if somebody likes to sneak in general, avoiding big combat encounters, but likes to takedown/kill someone here and there to get somewhere more easily or something like that? I'm afraid he would be punished by such XP system, missing XP from killing lots of enemies and not getting the stealth bonus either...
Well hopefully they though about that all and have it covered.
Just pre-ordered today, I don't usually pre-order but I was at gamestop and just said fuck it. I'm super pumped for this game now, just watched the 30 minute commentary. Loving limited item space, and the look of the weapons I've seen so far. If the story is even halfway decent I'll be happy to kill the last few days of my summer with this game.

you get 10 xp for a man down + 10 for headshot
from stealth you get 10 xp + 30 "mercilful soul" = 40
Guys, remember the video by Eidos acting as Sarif Industries, making a fun advertisement video selling augmentations? They've made one for the pro-human hate-augmentation-people group "Purity First"

It looks so possibly real, give us few (or more, lol) years and we'll get not necessarily to this, but some extremely important changing point in human history. Deus Ex was my favorite game for a decade (sry BW) and finally Human Revolution seems like a worthy succesor.

As previously said, only the last bar regens (Although, I thought this was a bug? Why would u have 3/4 upgrades to increase regen rate if only the last one comes back?).
But the other thing is, you can take down and incapacitated people and still pick up the XP bonus. I know its a bonus for every mission, but in one mission there is a specific secondary objective to not be seen at all and I incapped every enemy and still claimed it. So this leads me to believe that as long as your incapping people without being seen/startling anyone to a caution state, then you still get the bonus. So cloaking through levels missing everything will net you a 40XP loss per enemy.
That video was great! When I played the leaked version, I felt that purity first was some annoying little band of people I need to get rid of. Now when I watch the video, I can see their point of view. I could see the majority of the world being pissed at corporations such as Sarif or Tai Yong.
Eidos continues to impress me with all these videos and how they interact with the community (ie. ask JJB or JF) They really know how to take care of the fan base.

LOL, guys, at the end "purity first" "we have hacked their site" (somebody using annonymus and lulz popularity? :D)
Very impressive the marketing campaign that they are doing for this game. In fact, if you showed some of the other videos to someone who had no idea what this is about, they might belive its real!
