Art style looks really bad tho

Those screenshots. That art. Is this meant to be a shitty tablet game or something?

edit: the more i'm looking at it, the more I'm liking it.

Well art is art
My favorite SM title is Colonization personally. I've spent so much time on that game.

The 21st... of October. That's still 5 months away!

I like the more abstract style over an attempt at "realism".

Well, knowing their record, i will start playing it when it has released 1-2 expansions.

Excited but would rather see something new rather than keeping the hexagon.

Screenshots look ugly and I hate their dlc model, I'm not convinced. If I remember correctly Civ V was also a bad game right after it's release so probably it's better to wait some time before buying

This. It looks so much cleaner too.
It's absurd that we have had a number of turn based strategy games where you can't distinguish what anything on the map is without looking at icons. Presentation of game elements is what the map is for. The fact strategy games need an icon map on top of the actual map to tell us what everything on the map is is beyond absurd.

Pretty much. Not a fan of the art direction in this one, to be honest, but if the game's good it won't pose a big issue.

i'm excited because i get to watch other people play a new civ lol...

Everyone likes different things and I like the art direction of Civ 6 and I like the art of Civ 2. I didn't like it in Civ 3, 4 and 5 and their expansions.

I'm okay with the art-- the most important thing is that the units are distinct and easily identifiable. Makes things a lot easier on the eyes during the long gaming marathons.
Also would not be surprised to see the devs put this out on mobile platforms (this is apparently a brand new engine, and the graphics look fairly simple), which probably also factored into the art decision.
On another note, I wonder if Sean Bean will be doing all the in-game narration.

are we gonna need to wait some extensions before playing it ?

no release buy from me, they abandoned beyond earth right after the expansion, leaving it a complete mess.
also why do the graphics look like a comic
