Civ 6 seems to be hex-based. I like that

It's absurd that we have had a number of turn based strategy games where you can't distinguish what anything on the map is without looking at icons. Presentation of game elements is what the map is for. The fact strategy games need an icon map on top of the actual map to tell us what everything on the map is is beyond absurd. This so much. I like the art style. I despise "realism". SC2 is more "realistic" and "gritty" than BW and it's complete mess in a big fight. BW had units with bright colors and I could easily tell which zerglings are whose even in a mass 200/200 all zergling fight. Minimalism is one thing I would love to happen in strategy games. I would love for developers to take a traffic sign approach to the art. Also, Civ games are normally a mess when they are first released but I find that each step has its own charm. The final version with all expansions released has way too many features.

Because game development doesn’t work by the “Please have the same number of bullet pointed features as the last game, +5 more.” Well it could, but god that shit would be stale as fuck.

I get the impression these guys played a bunch of endless legend and wanted their cities to be that cool. I will be very happy if all cities are not built the same, with all the same upgrades.

Then again, im not so hardcore that i build only 4 cities, take only the good policies, and play like a robot. Seems like the folks who complained the most were the "hardcore" civ players. Which kind of makes me laugh. Hardcore and civ in the same sentence. Oh the lulz. When we have an international multimillion dollar civ tourney, i think itll sound less stupid.
