I like the new art direction. basically if you liked nintendo growing up then you probably enjoy this. If you are more of an xbox/ps person then you probably despise it.

Also looks accessible to lower specs people like myself, I thought I might not be able to play since my laptop is starting to get old.

I'm so hyped for this game.

I was really skeptical of the art direction they took and was getting Age of Empires Online flashbacks when I first saw it, but it's grown on me a lot at this point.

I bet it looks fantastic in-game.

While it does look like a mobile game (due to art style) nothing seens to inditate the game will be a simplistic and shallow time killer, like most mobile games.

I am a believer so far, considering the information available.
In PvZ the zerg can make the situation spire out of control but protoss can adept to the situation.

I love the mobile game look. Mobile games need to be played on a smaller screen so developers make the art easily distinguishable instead of having the super detailed and intricate mess we have with modern games. I played Beyond Earth and Civ 4:Colonization recently and found it hard to easily identify things. I ended up turning on every single icon I could find to cover up the "art" with something more informative.

And yes, I grew up in the NES generation instead of on the xbox/ps.

^ Yeah for a game like Civ I much prefer readability, and art that gives you the impression of a thing, not a photographic visual depiction which is A) unattainable for the scale and scope of the things in the game and B) dissonant with the mental process of playing the game. Civ is a chessboard stapled to spreadsheets on a mahjong table with pretty margins.

Civ4 beyond the sword was the best civilization in my opinion. I've never played 5 but it doesn't appeal to me at all. Neither does this one.

Maybe there will be multiple leaders per civilization, and the traits that used to be linked to the civ will be linked to the chosen ruler instead?

So far, I haven't seen any indication that any civ will get multiple leaders. However, the game is set up to allow it. The traits are separated into civ bonuses and leader bonuses. It would be easy to create new leaders that have different bonuses but uses the same civ bonuses.

This actually looks kind of promising. But I preordered Civ V to and that was basically unplayable compared to IV (never touched it again) so we will see.

That's too bad, because V is actually a lot of fun after its expansions fleshed it out some more.

I am cautious over VI though, given how Beyond Earth turned out.

To be honest all the Civilizations since Civ3 improve a lot after the mandatory two expansions.

I thought that Civ4 was bad when I played it and I came back to Civ3. Then after two expansions of Civ4 I started playing it a lot. Same thing with Civ5 later.

I just wanted to ask why do so many people dislike Civ 5? It was pretty ass at launch, but nowadays which game isn't? It's so good now after the Xpacks. Only thing I'm missing is speeding up building with slavery lol.
I also get the love for Civ IV because it really was *that* good but I just think people are afraid of change at this point.
