Chris "ChanmanV" is the host of the two shows "Climbing the Ladder" and "ChanmanV's Procorner". Following the example of people who "teach" Starcraft 2 like Day9 and Mr. Bitter, Chris has started two shows that focus on how you manage to find yourself interacting with the eSports community and also what you should think about when you play. His shows features progamers who come on the show, discuss strategies and play showmatches, aswell as having community figures come on the air to talk about the state of eSports and how we can make it better.
Firstly, introduce yourself. How long have been involved in eSports, and do you like steak?
Hi my name is Chris Chan aka ChanmanV. Ive been a gamer from birth and an active member of the eSports community for a couple of years now, but it wasn't until 5-6 months ago I decided to create a streamed eSports show. Yes, I do like steak. mmmm porterhouse.
Getting in to the shows you are producing, you seem to be enjoying quite a bit of success, tell us about the differences between your two shows "Climbing the Ladder" and "ChanmanV's Pro Corner", and which one do you enjoy the most?
Sure. Pro Corner is all about bringing on pro gamers (popular to up-and-comers) to create a very collaborative learning session so that viewers and sometimes the guests themselves learn a few tips to improve their play. I have all kinds of show formats that range from 1 on 1 coaching sessions to Best of 5 series followed by replay analysis to a strategy discussion with a guest panel.

Climbing The Ladder is more of a podcast show where we have on various guests from the player, team, event organizer, and sponsor segments to discuss in-depth about problems and issues currently in eSports and how we may be able to solve them. It's very much about educating the viewers about what's really going on and seeing if we can help come up with any solutions as a community. As for which one I enjoy most, that's like asking me to pick a favorite child. I love them equally.

I am rather interested in what it was that made you want to enter the realm of teaching people to "become better gamers". The competition is rather fierce with people like Day9 and a myriad of people on youtube who cast, explore and explain SC2 daily. What was your mindset and thoughts when you designed the topic of the shows, and what would you've done if the shows had gone south?
Good question. I've always been fascinated about learning more about how to become a better SC2 player. The Day9 daily was my first experience with this type of free educational content that was being given to the community and continued with Mr. Bitter's "12 weeks with the Pros". You may look at Day9's Dailies and other youtube videos as "competition", but I think we're all actually doing our own unique things. My mindset for picking topics/guests has always been from the standpoint of what I myself would want to see as a community member.
There's really no going south when you start something from the ground up. Also, I started this as a way to give back to the community what I got from Day9's dailies and "12 weeks" so there was never any expectations from my standpoint.
