So what I'd do a lot is run to a nest, collect there, check the scanner for something that's like a 5-10 min run, run to that, etc. I guess now I can just run between nests but that brings me to the other problem... The new nests & spawn rate is pretty bad at least for my area. Things seem a lot more sparse around here and a lot of the high density pokemon areas seem to be a lot less bountiful. I walked through what used to be one of the most productive nests in awhile and only saw one of the nest spawns when normally I'd stumble over at least 3-4 with the same route. So even if I stay on top of the new nests and stuff the variety and bountifulness of them is pretty reduced so that kind of stinks. I'm still going to play and it's hopefully the start of more improvements and what not, but it is a bit disappointing as I really enjoyed running & sprinting after pokemon as exercise. I can still run and catch, but I'm probably going to always just end up with only getting the common spawns around the area since I can't really hunt & run at the same time. I just hope they fix the tracking in game. I play Pokemon Go to go places, I don't want to play Pokemon "wander around a 200m area".

On the subject of lower spawning, I too feel like all those spawns they activated last update have been disabled. Seeing the previous normal again.

They are not perma gone. Tracker devs broke the api before in about a week. This time they think it will take 2.

Figuring out the exact input fields of a hash is pretty rough, whereas changing up the hash is trivial. For any 2 weeks spent by the devs cracking unknown6, Niantic has like 1 hour work to undo all their efforts. There is some speculation that they allowed 0.35 API access for so long to collect all the cheater info and now ban them in one huge wave. Perhaps from now on they won't wait months to enforce the new API but act quicker. In that case the devs will give up soon. Safetynet is another problem, here the workarounds take <24 hours to appear, so we're still far away from a spoof-free game.

It's not a "somehow", it's an "obviously".

I think the game is probably also losing people that would stay around for battling and the like if it was more interesting, but the doom and gloom of losing a ton of players was inevitable. The game was never going to keep its immediate post launch audience.

For hardcore players, there is no endgame. For casuals, the basic interactions are so frustrating that they quit by the mid teens/20s. The only people who really stick around are the collectors, and even those tap out once they finish their dex. And the worst part is that all of those things were obvious within a week of release. They fundamentally misunderstood what drew people to their game, and how to keep those people around.
