Usually I try for 90+ IV but lapras is pretty rare so I'm on the fence. Tough. The one you hatched will be lvl 20 at best, maxing it out will require some more hatches, or hundreds of kms of buddy walking. But finding one with higher CP/IV and the same moveset is equally annoying. Actually it depends on the area. Where I live I see Lapras on my scanner daily so I would wait until I find a better one. But on Reddit I've seen discussions of Lapras' biome and it appears there are cities where it doesn't spawn at all (unlike Snorlax which seems to spawn everywhere, just at low rate). So I guess it depends on what you mean by "pretty rare" exactly PS: once you faced Blizzard once, it becomes trivial to dodge, the flash is right when your pokemon gets encased in ice. I'm not sure it's the best defender moveset in practice. Ice Shard/Ice Beam is probably better if we assume that the opponent tries to dodge specials. i.imgur.com Yeah I know, candies will be an issue so maybe I'll save up for a while then decide. I've already walked lapras almost 200km but I spent them powering up my 84IV frost breath/blizzard one. I also have an 88IV frost breath/ice beam, not sure if I'll max him out yet. I really want a defender one though.. i just made my lapras 40% IV, 1777 CP, frost breath/blizzard my buddy. he does some serious work taking down dragonite gyms. he is the only lapras i have ever seen, and likely will see without specifically hunting him. i want to use him as an attacker, so i am going to level him up. i kind of like the idea of collecting candies and waiting though. at 1777, he already takes out 2800+ dragonites, so not a terrible rush.
i would not power up a low level defensive lapras though.

Usually I try for 90+ IV but lapras is pretty rare so I'm on the fence. From the PoGo communities I've looked around in, 80% is the lower limit of "good enough to use candy/dust on." I'd say use it, but then again I'd say to use a defensive Lapras regardless.

I just noticed that the catch position for pokemons that you hatch is where you got the egg and not the place where it hatched. Because when looking at my Magmar (the highest CP pokemon I've hatched so far) it said that it was caught in a town where I am 99% was not the place where it was hatched.

Nah it was only like that for an hour or so, normally just the four stops have permanent lures. It's really nice when they're all lit though since I can hatch eggs walking back/forth

1756 Frost breath Dragon Pulse Lapras. with 15% IV's caught today. 565 Snorlax. Lick Body Slam. 22%ish IV's (combined CP of the 3 Snorlax I caught is still under 1000...)
I literally cannot win when it comes to the strong pokemon....

I literally cannot win when it comes to the strong pokemon.... that's normal though, the probability of high IV/CP/good moves is very low.. your best chance is to hatch them from an egg, they usually get 80+ IV and level 20

I've had a dry spell of 10km eggs, haven't seen another one in weeks. Buddy caught a 2239 +80% IV snorlax last night. The bugger keeps popping up when I'm not available to come catch him!

Some spoofer programs can be used again. My area is filled with lvl 10 gyms with the lowest CP being 3k. ggnore
At least Im 135/141 for my pokedex now. No region exclusive for me unless I take a plane.

Looks like Niantic has installed captchas on their servers to block Scanners from working.
Fastpokemaps twitter makes it sound unreasonably expensive to beat

That's sad. I saw a Kabutops in the sweet spot locally, ran to my car at the end of the workday and my battery was dead. Was even more sad.

Bummed the scanners are down... trying not to lose interest in the game but no real goals or depth of content is making it very difficult. They've always come back up like TPB so I'm optimistic they will be back sometime in the future.
