After finishing the Greenskin short campaign on normal very easily I just finally ended the Dwarf long campaign on hard. Had an absolute blast. What a great time. Dwarves are just so much fun to fight with. Especially when you get ironbreakers, they're just absolutely insane. 4x ironbreakers, 4x hammerers, 4x cannon, 2x irondrake, 5x thunderer. Had 5 of those armies running around at the end and finished with over 1 million gold in the bank around turn 260 with every other faction eliminated except for my empire allies :D.
I just always moved armies in pairs using the underway. No attrition is the shit. And I never ran into an army that could withstand 16 (8x2) cannons focussing their lords and elite units while getting blasted by rank 7+ ironbreakers who never die with thunderers and irondrakes firing from behind. In the early game its exactly the same but with dwarf warriors and a gazillion quarrelers.
Since you end up being really badly outnumbered with the dwarfes pretty much all the time and flanked to hell pumping leadership as much as you can makes you able to just stand there, take it and scrap it out. Watching 3 full chaos armies break on 2 armies of mine and ending the chaos threat that way was the absolutely highpoint of my campaign.
Ungrim is a beast btw.
Great game, having a lot of fun. Block army solved all the frustration I had with the game. That plus the engineer who gives you + alot of campaign movement makes you catch and blast the shit of of stuff.
Now I'm between VC and Chaos for my next run. Empire doesn't appeal to me at all.

Hehe, for me it's the opposite I'm almost done with the long Greenskin campaign and I'll try the empire next since I do not like the VC nor Chaos.

Finished Empire long campaign in 200 turns. Now on to VC which is quite a lot different.
What bugs me the most with VC is the fact that your units are sub-par and only shine when buffed by your lords. This however makes it nearly impossible to autoresolve battles (seriously, I've had 8x GG with great weapons, 2x BK with lances & barding, 2x Vargheists, Varghulf, 1x Ghouls, Manny, Necromancer, WK on barded horse and it showed me that an orc army consisting in most part of goblins was much stronger than mine, WTF?)

... maybe the ork army had reinforcements? Because this doesn't sound right. O_o

Yeah I didn't fight the Orks during my VC campaign but it sounds very wrong. The only problem I had with auto resolve was that it eats Varghulf health for no reason.
Fortunately not to bad for VC since they can just start the battle by casting a Invocation on them to regen the HP.

How is the multiplayer 1v1 guys? Any fun/good? Is it skillfull? If you found yourself decent/good in 1v1, feel free to link your stream. Would like to check out the multiplayer with two people atleast knowing somewhat how to play.

It is cheesy as fuck atm. Games vs friends where you enforce some rules like they do in very limited amount at ESL are nice. Multiplayer still can be very nice, but every few games you will run into some very cheesy stuff like an army full of heros. I am interested in what conclusions will come out of ESL, currently you can have a lot of fun with countercheese though. When I picked this game up i never expected to be drawn to the multiplayer. I get even more bang for my buck then i expected : D

Multiplayer is very fun if houseruled. Hopefully one day CA will implement some limitations, and balance the point costs, otherwise the MP community won't manage to grow up because the pick up games can be complete trash.

Played VC and Chaos so far and now I am playing the Greenskins (~turn 60 now), all on very hard.
VC was by far the hardest so far. The early game is quite easy because of Mannfred spells and because you are not really under pressure. Later it gets really tough because VC units feel kinda weak and casting spells don't really cut it when there's huge army sizes. Also, you are the first target for Chaos. I had to restart the campaign 2 times.
Chaos, although they're labeled hard, went really good. The beginning is a bit slow, but Archaon levels so fast and the units are strong. Also you don't have to care about settlements.
Greenskins might become the easiest for me so far. The first few turns are a little tricky because you're at war with the Dwarf factions around you and Orc tribes. After dealing with the Dwarfs it was very easy for me to just spread everywhere.

as someone who has never played any of the TW games, is there anything particular I should know going in? I need a time sink

If you just spam zombies you can abuse autoresolve. Had 90% winrate for me vs chaos, and manually getting destroyed.

@vc: is there a way to make your flyers rise without delays? Terrorgheists performance scales pretty much linear with how fast they rise again, because extended periods of groundfighting are pretty much the only way they die ever.
|
Nope. Giving flyers a required run up before they can take off again kinda helps keep them balanced so you can't just charge and re-charge nonstop, and make sure people actually have to think before flying them into something.

True, especially the quickmatches kinda such. I'm playing with a friend of mine and we're both new to the TW games so we already lost 10 games out of the 12 we've played, nevertheless we're still getting matched against players that are like rank 12 on the official ladder...

Sounds perfectly fair, just wished that the run up wouldnt be somewhere between 1 meter and 1km <.< Guess they have to have a non-disrupted run phase, they sometimes seem to be stuck in knockback animations f.e. when fighting chaos trolls.

So what is houseruled? Is that something that cannot be done every time? So if i understand it correctly, the MM is kinda OFF by a big margin? A noob can face rank 12. And also there are to many weird settings atm that needs to be reduced for it to be enjoyable, and when those criterias come true, the game is indeed enjoyable/good?

"Houseruled" means that you open up a new lobby with a friend (or alone) and set the rules to the game by yourself. Whereas quickmatches have premade rules that cannot be changed.

I believe there is no such thing as MMR in this game it just matches whoever is looking for a game. It's not like the game isn't fun, it's just really really difficult to find someone about your level... unless you have a friend ofc, but playing against the same guy over and over again isn't exactly fun either.

Houseruled means that you're playing with a friend and you both agree on rules before the game, such as "no bullshit hero only armies".

There were some Beta Flash tournaments when the game was in beta and they played with houserules (no more than 8 flying units etc.). Was real fun to watch.

I am just getting crushed as the dwarves on two fronts on hard. Made the mistake of confederating with the kingdom up there, who were in a war with the vampire counts. Who push hard, and have razed 4 of my territories. I cant seem to win a battle against the greenskins.
Every battle goes like so:
They put a few heavy units in the middle that take a long time to kill then 40 billion ranged units. Who just pound my armies close and far, and when I try to force them off, the dwarves have no cavalry and I am not far enough along to get gyros... so they just run away while another group shoots them and so forth.
I literally cant even get close to winning a battle aggressively (can win defensively) because i have no way to deal with their archers. Also, any time i try to move out, they just flank me with Cavalry and wipe out my ranged and the units are so slow theres nothing I can do about it (again, this is during aggressive battles)
