Our rules have changed, and with change comes war on a scale as yet unimagined.
Gigantic monsters, flying creatures, legendary heroes and storms of magical power take their place on the battlefield, alongside thousands of warriors clashing in real-time tactical battles. All at YOUR command.
In the turn-based campaign game of statecraft & empire building, you will find the Old World an unforgiving and treacherous place, filled with endless war and cunning alliances alike. Whichever race you choose to play as and however you seek conquest, you will be faced with a conflict that threatens to tear the very fabric of reality asunder.
I have a casual understanding of the Total War and Warhammer series but this might be a promising game if it is done right. I know there are a lot of fans of both who are really anticipating this.
Four races only so far: Greenskins, The Empire, Dwarfs and Vampire Counts.
I have followed Warhammer for years now, but on CA's side, hopefully this time, there will be a competent battle AI, the AI can invade islands and the AI can successfully attack a fort. Hopes been dashed too often.
Judging by the trailor it is likely Chaos (or Tzeentch in any case) will be added as a multiplayer faction and by extention Kislev, unless they make chaos cults/armies a side effects of revolts and discontent, so they simply appear from within your own cities/lands like revolts or bandits.
Oh wow, I have been waiting for this since Medieval: Total War as a lover of both franchises... I just hope they take their time to deliver a proper game and not something similar to Rome 2. There is so much potential in this, both for failure and for greatness.
Edit: 4 races? Really? And the most boring ones at that... I was hoping for Chaos, Khemri and Dark Elves, I couldn't care less about Dwarves, Orcs and Empire -.-"

They already said it will be a trilogy so the rest will come as expansions I guess.
Im more worried about the quality tho. I wonder if it will be just another reskin of Rome 2.

Probably only those four because they are the easiest to create and most straightforward in a sense. I know some people are worried this will become an inevitable cash grab DLC attempt with the other races.
With the possibility of flying units and other monsters, I think those are enough to make at least the battles different from Rome 2. I'm still wary about the full cost of all the content including the expansions and DLCs, so I'll eye the news but keep my wallet shut until everything goes on sale.
Trilogy sounds terrible to me to be quite honest... It's as if they are saying "Warhammer tabletop players are already used to spending thousands of bucks on overprized plastic miniatures so they'll be totally fine to pay 3 times for this game that we could release in one piece if we wanted to". Only 4 races and the decision to go with those 4 are kind of a deal breaker for me already. As someone who has played ~15 years against Dwarven, Empire and Orcs on the tabletop Warhammer I cannot even think about playing as one of those races which reduces the amount of playable races for me to 1.
But it's to be expected I guess... Going with the least interesting and safest races has always been a hallmark of Games Workshop.
CA has been releasing suboptimal crap for a while now. Things to look forward to: inept ai, many bugs, unoptimized code and lots of DLCs. Which is too bad because the Warhammer universe is great.
Funny enough, I thought Rome 2's AI was fairly competent when it comes to using agents. However, that made the game even more terrible since the agent system was terribly designed.
Shogun 2 was pretty good. Maybe that scope is most CA can do.
Considering what CA has been doing ever since Empire there probably will be dlcs for factions ("races"), unit packs, most likely a blood and gore dlc and an expansion of some sort along the lines of the dlc campaigns of Rome 2 or Napoleon.
Personally for me CA has already milked the TW series hardcore so I've stopped purchasing their games, a friend gifted me Rome 2 and that was horrible. According to the posts here this game will have 3 parts? Dayum :O. I'll just wait for bargain bin price and buy it then considering I already can play a good TW game if I want to and get the same experience without buying every single new TW.
Main concerns of mine for TW in general is the unit behavior, pathfinding, and ai.
Back when first Shogun TW was realeased I said to my friends "they should totally make warhammer total war now". It would've been glorious, but these days I'm not so sure, given the recent track record of CA. I hope they didn't announce all races yet and are just saving them for later trailers or something, cause if they make a bunch of dlc shit like they usually do I'm not gonna touch this game. Also, we're probably looking at a ridiculous pricetag like 60 euros or sth. Lot's of potential in this game and would be awesome if they deliver but I'm not building my expectations.
