After greenskin short on normal, dwarf long on hard, I just wrapped up Vampire Counts long on hard and it has been the easiest campaign by far. For some reason as VC you can just position yourself diplomatically in a very good position and always have other factions screen you from the real shit such as chaos and orcs until you're done killing who you need to kill and then turn and help your ally fighting chaos or orc waaaghs.
Giants are scary btw, normal and chaos variants :S. Those things wreck. Mr Suneater showed up with 8 of those things in his army along with some dragon ogres and a shaggoth. Bad times.
VC lords and hero's are just amazing btw lol. They make life so easy. Their lords + terror inflicting units make life too easy. Spirit syphon is a total joke as well. Oh look a lord, spam that spell with 3 of your guys and lord is dead in 30 seconds after hitting the first spell.
Dwarves are still my fav faction but we'll see after I finish playing with Chaos on very hard. Saving Empire for last on legendary or somth.
edit: Yeah Ironbreakers are amazing :D. I rolled everything with 5 armies consisting of lord + hero + 4 ironbreakers, +4 hammerers, +4 cannons + rest thunderers. Early game some meatshields + a metric ton of quarrelers kills just everything. As a dwarf you don;t run at shit. You have shit run at you. And when it's not running at you, you have the best ranged stuff so you force it to run into you or stand there and die to it.

I have Lords and Heroes, but I can't have them all sitting in various provinces? If there's just the passive -1 Chaos Corruption should I just make sure my Public Order is high enough and go about my business? Yes, you can ignore the Chaos event +1 corruption. Just make sure you build some of the Public Order buildings in each province.
Corruption ain't that bad until you start hitting 25+% on the meter, then it can become problematic (depending on the difficulty it might be a nuisance or a real fucking problem).

Yep, on Legendary is pretty bad, you already running on a -8 deficit on public order by default before any buildings. 2 town provinces are highly unstable for a big length of time if you don't build public order, which most of the time requires rank 2 town, and corruption does nothing but increase this problem.
I don't know if corruption also has higher drawbacks if you are on a higher difficulty, which could be likely aswell, but i can't assure it.

btw if someone is still playing without the conquer anything mod I can highly recommend it, the shit is hilarious. In my current playthrough the bloody spears overran Averland and Wissenland while i wasn't looking because I was courting Nordland hard to get the reikland runefang quest done early.
Then on turn 32 the greenskins conferederated them, I now have a 14 settlements greenskin empire on my doorstep to deal with

The thing that bugs me with all the video game releases of warhammer is that they only have a limited choice of playable races. When will I finally be able to play my beloved lizardmen Wish they worked on a huge title with all factions available from the start.

but how else would they make more money?

I'm a little curious as to how they are going to incorporate the Lizardmen geographically. I don't want them in the south where we have to fight through half a continent of orcs.
I think dwarfs vs VC is an interesting matchup. On the surface, Dwarf infantry units seem well positioned to decimate the VC shitfantry, but Dwarfs depend on their ranged for DPS and vargheists and fell bats are quite good at dropping right on top of them and fucking your whole formation up.

I'm guessing they're going to do a separate add on campaign (like Age of Charlemagne or The Last Roman for Total War: Attila) which will have a separate map that consists of Naggaroth, Ulthuan and Lustria. They'll be able to do Lizardmen, High Elves and Dark Elves and hopefully find enough room to add in the 6 existing factions (assuming Bretonnians become a real playable faction which I'd say is a fair bet), and if we're really lucky fit in Skaven as well.
I don't seem them modifying the existing Old World map just because trying to add in a few extra races without significant tampering's going to be a huge pain in the arse. I do see them perhaps doing an End Times themed old world map that's slightly bigger, features more races and mixes up all the locations and territories to fit it all in.
Anyhow, them's me predictions.

They could add Khemri to the south of the Badlands, maybe Athel Loren somewhere in Bretonnia and Beastmen somehow to the north, but everything else would be a pain in the ass, especially Skaven.

Considering they have 3 games planned I don't expect the world to grow much, instead opening races like Bretonnia and maybe Woodelves and adding mini campaigns. The other 2 games can either expand the map or show entirely separate sections.

Athel Loren is already on the campaign map, it's just impassible forest at the moment. It stretches from about the middle of Bretonnia all the way down to the southern mountain ranges near Estalia.

Am really diggin this game!
Am on a Dwarf Playthrough where i have 4 full stack armies of ironbreakers, hammerers, and organ guns... and im still bringing in 2k income... althought I just wiped out the border princes, only to now realize VC has started following my armies re-taking these newly open settlements -.- this is why i never raised settlements in previous TW games lmao.
Am having moral dilemma of whether or not to wipe out the rest of the dwarves, as i am allied with all 3 remaining dwarf factions, and I am #1 world power currently. Think it might just be time to take out the VC as they seem to be #2..not looking forward to fighting vs their heros tho.
Anyways am having a lot of fun, really love the unit diversity, and cant wait to play campaigns with all the different races as they really do all play so differently.
Gotta admit tho...cant wait to have Elves. Am hoping they come in to the game soonish.

they keep refusing, I finally annihilated Zhufbar because he was down to 1 settlement, and was still refusing to confederate with me... so i had to wipe him out sadly... (VC ran in and took out 2/3 of his settlements, i swooped in behind them and took them back, but by then he only had 1 settlement left..that i then took from him =/. He put up a great fight tho
But the chaos hordes have just started rampaging so maybe they will be more willing to confederate now, as Id prefer not to go to war with mine own kin!
|
Do not force people to confederate. Be on good terms with them (trading, peace, military alliance, defensive alliance and all that). Once Chaos hits and you get into a few scraps with them they'll all love you and be all the more willing to confederate (just wait until in diplomacy you see green scroll next to confederate option).
That's what I did with Empire. Even my enemies begged for confederation when Chaos started knocking down on their door.
|
You don't have to confederate as long as they are you allies?
|
Allies work for the objectives yep.
The easiest way to get people to confederate with you that i had found is to give them gifts for a few turns. It won't take long until you can confederate except if you were deep on negative.
|
I guess if you're in a more populated area of the map you may have to confederate, but dorfs have a quarter of a map to take over. I did have to give quite a few gifts to the border princes though to let me cross so I could deal with those upstarts in Karak Hirn. It's quite annoying as a dorf to leave that part of the map to try to get to, say, Sylvania.
It's been over a decade haha and CA still hasn't figured out diplomacy. Ally with two friendly factions. Said factions inexplicably decide to go to war with each other, your diplomacy rating just got garboed no matter what you do. Also, I wish there were options for group peace treaties, especially if you were the aggressor. Yeah, sorry Schwartzhafen, I'd love to take your 6k and declare peace, but two provinces Zhufbar will go apeshit if I do.

Ended up confederating with all of the dwarves except 1 currently. Everyone is much more willing to confederate/alliance once Chaos Horde shows up and starts rampaging. And after you fight a couple chaos armies, everyone is willing to pay you to be your friend. Have control of every piece i need for long campaign. Annihilated the VC and the Chaos hordes by myself. (love it when they run over 2 full stack armies chilling in the tunnel.)
Basically set traps for both where i had 2 full stack armies sitting in tunnel right outside of the town they were about to attack.
Anyways was up til 1am cause all i had left to do was trek north and retake the 3 settlements in the middle of bumfuckin nowhere up there... captured them.. only to realize i needed a lvl 15 engineer -.-... my highest is lvl 11. I am friends with the empire, my confederation + my alliance with the empire covers 99% of the map... and now im sitting on 500,000 gold trying to level my engineer just for my stupid victory screen -.-
I hate these kind of conditions to win... what does having a high level engineer have to do with conquering the world? ugh
I had a chaos faction try to become my vassal.
But the best grovelers were the VC.
"Offers 5000 and peace treaty"
Nope.
"offers 7000 and peace treaty"
Nope
"Offers 12000 and to become a vassal"
Nope... You sacked one of my settlements while I was defeating the chaos horde... noone can hold a grudge like a dwarf!
Im getting something like 100,000 gold a turn if i had no upkeep. But with my armie upkeep it is around 20,000 a turn atm.
