multiplayer is better on PC anyway, online multiplayer that is. Well, I still have a N64 ! Been away from consoles ever since so yeah. The other thing not helping is that firms can't do simple math. 399$ = 300€.. not 399. -.- These things console people seems to let go and agree upon.. but seriously.. It's not quite as simple as that because The EU and UK have higher tax rates than the US but they are still overcharging outside the US.

We might get lucky and get a new F-zero. One of the few Nintendo franchises that didn't get a wii release.
Other than that, Super Smash Bros is probably what most are after. A new advance wars for DS would cheer me up.
If by some miracle Nintendo actually releases a new IP i'd be more than a little surprised.

The last few FF's haven't been lacking for good battle systems IMO.
FFXIII, if you actually played it instead of just hammering X for auto-battling, had a great battle system, in fact it's one of my favourite JRPG battle systems... EVER (and I'm a 29 y.o. gamer who has been playing them since SNES days). It's just too bad that the rest of the game was trash in comparison. Yes when I tried to "play" the game, the combat had some interesting features but most of the game for me was using X, because it was more then enough. I only played the story and didn't do that much side missions and other stuff, which probably requires more then pushing X, but like you said the game has worse things that the combat, so I really didn't feel the need to explore the game, which was a first in a final Fantasy game for me. But yes, the combat is not the worse thing in FFXIII, I talked about the kingdom hearts combat only because I really like the style of it, not saying the other FF combat system are bad, it is just personal preference.
I do agree tho. But in the end it was just the same every time. The same routine you did. Buff, stagger, damage. I never cleared all of the side missions in XIII but I still came really far.
The biggest problem with me was that I couldn't control what the other did so I got really frustrated when they didn't do what I wanted.
To me FF was never about the best combat mechanic. It was always fresh with a new twist. That's the reason I like FF and not the Tale series which is basically always the same to my knowledge.

I don't know if it's been mentioned in this thread yet.
A spokesman for PS4 announced there would be no region locking for games.

Square enix seems to be fking it up once again.
The FFXV looks as a promising game...not a promising FF for any FF fan at all.
Why in the fucking world they don't try to make a basic oldschool FF for fking once?!? After all, the most popular FF titles are FFIV, FFVII, FFIX and FFX. Just fking make one like those with Advent children graphics and we are fking set.

Just watched both Microsoft and Sony press conference. Just like everyone said, Sony just blew MS out of the water. Even without the lower price tag, PS4 with support to used games(i'm sad that it is a feature now -_-), no internet connection required, that is a major advantage that MS won't be able to clear.
MS can lower the price, but I really doubt that they can change their policy, at least not in the near future since that will involving their signed deal with alot of developers.
I feel like MS just stepped in Sony's shoes when they announced PS3 back in the day.

Probably because the JRPG genre is the most stale stagnant cesspool of innovation in the games industry that they have managed to make EA sport games look revolutionary.
Someone needs to take an axe to the format. Not go back to the originals, not simply up the number of pretty cut scenes. There has been enough bloody nostalgia plaguing this genre for a decade. The gameplay needs radical changing.
I hope FFXV achieves this.
Edit: Silly brain fart Roman numerals.

I know this isn't the popular opinion but the actual games on the Xbox One looked far and away better than any game announced specifically for the PS4. The only truly top notch game I saw for the PS4 was the Tom Clancy game and that wasn't exclusive, in fact they listed Xbox One ahead of the PS4 in their video. The lower price tag of the PS4 sounds nice but, at the end of the day not one of their exclusive games looked like anything that couldn't be done on a PS3 or a Xbox360 today to me. So many people are up in arms about the game trading thing but, I just don't get that at all. I can't remember the last time I traded in a game, I prefer to keep them incase I want to play them again personally. Furthermore I don't know who these people are who are so crazy about the always connected item either, most people are always on the internet nowadays anyways aren't they? Again I cannot remember the last time I didn't have internet, actually yea I can .. my power went out in a storm a few weeks ago.
I just don't understand, the actual games on the PS4 look noticeably worse to me, yet everyone is talking about 2 features that shouldn't really impact most people at all or the quality of the games. If anything the Xbox One's setup is more conducive to higher quality games due to more reliable profits and the always connected feature being more reliable from a programming stance. You can't hard-code any kind of cloud computing stuff into your game if it also has to run in offline mode as well, at least not easily. I really feel like once some of the actual game reviews start coming in, the tidal wave of game trading/ no internet having negativity will subside.

Well the Sony games look worse because unlike MS they actually showed alot of real gameplay . MS Gameplay was what ? Titanfall ? Graphics didn't look that great . Both systems are very similar in build so it's very doubtful the two consoles will really be different with Graphics in general .

Every once in a while we get people that come along saying, "Oh, always online/used games aren't a big deal. I never have to deal with them so everyone else is fine!"
The reality is that a huge amount of people buy/rent games because of the fact that console games are incredibly over-priced. This also comes into play with the PS4 costing $100 less; a HUGE amount of money to the average person. Finally, there are huge swaths of the country that do not have a consistent, high-speed internet connection. The U.S. has one of the worst internet infrastructures in the developed world, so this isn't a surprise.
Oh, and I already mentioned exclusives between the two. MS hardly has any leg up on Sony for exclusives, and multi-platformers will undoubtedly run better on the PS4, since it has better hardware.

after watching again the E3 gameplay of The Divison .. no way ubisoft don't make it on PC

kind of crazy that ps4 has outright better harder and a lower price tag.

PS4 and Xbox one competition this time is much difference from the PS3 vs Xbox 360. There will be no difference in term of graphich between PS4 and XboxOne since they are basically the same machine under a difference names with PS3 has a slightly better APU. Whatever made you think XboxOne has better graphic is most likely Sony showed actually game play while MS showed pre-render stuff. I am pretty sure that most games will look the same on both systems.
Back in 2006-2007 people compare graphich between PS3 and Xbox 360 just because PS3 was supposed to have much better quality with its Cell structure. Turns out Sony was wrong, since it was so difficult for devs to actually ultilize the PS3 advantages, most games just ended up looked exactly like the Xbox 360 version. Sony has since learnt their lesson while MS starting to make alot of mistakes.

just finished watching the sony conference. hilarious how microsoft got trashed there and they even made me a bit interested in the console.
last one i owned was a ps2 and i only played a handful of games on that so i doubt i gonna shelf out 400€ for something i dont really need but still not bad.

ITs not even an xbone exlcusive they're making it for the ps4 as well.
Thats the really sad part. most of the game they showed at the ms presentation as if they were exclusives weren't actualy exclusives.

You are totally missing the point of JRPG. In many ways they are more similar to VN than western RPG, if it has great story, it will sell (tales, kiseki). While all the fancy new stuff are cool and all, if they come at a sacrifice of good writing and storytelling, it's arsebackwards.

Depending on how you look at it, Dark Souls is a JRPG. Definitions of video game genres today is so silly.

Going multi-platform really take out the epic feel about the game. This post makes literally zero sense. OMG THIS GAME IS EPIC wait, Xbox players can play this epic game too? MORE PEOPLE PLAYING THIS EPIC GAME? What a shit game. Dude calm the fuk down. Where in my post did I say MGS is a shit game? Exclusives make consoles have it unique games that all I'm saying. Like when you mentioned Mario or Zelda you will think of Nintendo, Halo or Gears and you think of Microsoft, God of war or Uncharted you think of Sony. Calm down. I own both consoles this gen so please. Lol... i doubt hes saying mgs was a shit game. Hes saying your post shows fanboyism because it almost saying that non playstation owners should not have the franchise. But he insert that into my comment, I didn't say anything about MGS being a shit game. And all of sudden CAP THIS GUY, hes a fanboy. Anyway, not gonna comment on this pointless argument anymore. Just happy that now I can pay $400 and get a great console with no internet connection required MGS hasnt been PS-only since MGS1, and that was because it came out on the PS1, at which time the xbox didnt exist. Your saying "Kojima should suck it up and stay on the PS4" - Why? why in the living fuck would a games developer company do this without massive bucks from sony to remain exclusive when they can make twice the cash doing it otherwise? A console having a franchise (e.g nintendo's zelda) doesnt make a game any less great, it just gives you a forced-reason to buy that console. This is not a good thing, ever. Its marketing at its worst. Having every game in the world available on every platform is 100% ideal in every situation. How the hell does a game being multi-platform take the "epic feel out of the game" - Like my last sarcastic post, do you sit in your bedroom raging because all those god damn xbox nerds are enjoying the game too? The only thing it does is force Xbox users to buy a PS4 to play MGS5 (which any self-respecting xbox user...oh wait..well yeah, they would buy one.) which doesnt affect you. I literally cant grasp your post at all and it made no sense, still makes no sense and will continue, to make no sense. ON TO FF BITCHING. Yeah FF12 was vastly different but a really excellent game, it worked well but after that, the company stopped winning and started digging (its own grave) Will look up some of the JRPG's you suggest but 1 franchise and 1 singular game (Tales and ni no kuni) do not really prove me wrong, barely anyone bothers with JRPG's and you even admit they dont live up to squares production, somebody needs to step up to the plate imo. Also non-translated games, i just cant do them anymore like i used to when i was 10 :D EDIT: And damn this weird non-understandable post guy for making me want to play MGS again.
My opinion of FF12 was that it was the first step down the gameplay path of as little player interaction as possible. By end of the game you were basically automating every single fight to point where all you needed to do was move to where enemy was and let the gambits do the rest. I thought story was okay if at times lacking that grandiose feel that they were going for with the war and the factions but still overall it gets graded on a positive curve when compared to FFXIII which was to kindly put it a fiasco.
