you'll also want something that can dispose of rotom-w before you come in to sweep, but nothing really reliably deals with rotom-w. I would say your best bet is to stack things that rotom needs to come in on so it wont be healthy for pinsir's sweep. and steel types are a problem as well, like genesect, ferrothorn, skarmory, etc. Magnezone perhaps. pinsir/magnezone/latias should be a good start

I'd assume 252atk 252spd, with adamant? A moveset like Return/Quick Attack/Swords Dance/Earthquake is standard. Since Mega Pinsir's ability powers up all Normal moves by 30% and makes them Flying-type, Quick Attack and Return are actually incredibly powerful moves, especially when you factor in stuff like STAB and Swords Dance. Earthquake is honestly all the coverage you need; Skarmory is basically the only thing that Flying/Ground doesn't do much to, and even if Pinsir used Close Combat instead, it won't get past Skarmory anyway. It's therefore better to use the fantastic coverage from Flying-type Return and Earthquake. Adamant is great for more power, but Jolly is generally the way to go, despite your having great priority. Without Jolly, any positive-nature base 100 Pokemon, such as Garchomp, outspeed you and give you a rough time. If you have paralysis support or ways to deal with Garchomp and friends, the extra power from Adamant is welcome. It really depends on your team. - edited for accuracy on the subject of natures

Adamant is great for more power, and your amazing priority move makes Jolly not as necessary, but Jolly is still an option if you need to outpace specific threats. I see, so starting with Magnezone/Latias aswell, what would be good for them?(i'm basically a gen behind and movesets are lost on me atm) Is there any use for weezing since explosions been nerfed? Was running one on another team but besides will o wisp he doesnt seem to provide a whole lot Was basically running this on weezing : Lung Cancer (Weezing) @ Black Sludge Ability: Levitate Shiny: Yes EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef Bold Nature - Pain Split - Will-O-Wisp - Flamethrower - Explosion On January 09 2014 03:34 Archas wrote: Show nested quote + On January 09 2014 03:30 arb wrote: On January 09 2014 03:28 Archas wrote: On January 09 2014 03:24 arb wrote: On January 09 2014 03:21 Archas wrote: On January 09 2014 03:18 arb wrote: Thinking of building a team around Pinsir, but dunno what to use? Latias is all-around a great choice with several viable movesets. Do you want Latias to be a bulky attacker, a wall? Isnt Skarmory still commonly used? Something for defog maybe? Is someone with entry hazards required in this gen?

It slipped my mind that Magnezone can readily take out Scizor, who poses a major threat to Latias. If you want to use Latias, Magnezone is actually a pretty good partner after all. On January 09 2014 03:30 arb wrote: Isnt Skarmory still commonly used? Something for defog maybe? Is someone with entry hazards required in this gen? Skarmory has fallen off in usage, due to it losing its Ghost and Dark resistances. It's by no means a bad Pokemon, but it's also not the omnipotent presence it was before.
