Info: - France is sitting at about 45k manpower to my 54k. - Allied to the commonwealth and a few electors but none want to join the war sadly. - I've got a huge bank and high income. Opted to keep army relatively small because the biggest country I had to fight yet was Denmark + unions, but my force limit is sitting at 81 so I can match the French army. - Got a 5% discipline advisor, the rest has been fired - Military tech is 6, for France 6 as well I'm thinking of luring them to Tirol to drain his manpower vs an army consisting of a relatively high percentage of mercs since I'm sitting on a huge bank. Any Erwin Rommels out there? | ||

Your navy should be superior, so you might want to make sure the Scots never ferry in any troops, just to be sure. Never fight on french soil until you have broken their army. You could try to destroy saxony while the french advance on your western border, just to have them out of the war, because this will be a long one and they could be a bit annoying behind you. Be very careful about their generals and your generals. Sometimes the french randomly have a 6/6 general, which is really dangerous. Let them proceed a bit forward and split their troops up. Then crush smaller armies with a larger army, preferably with a better general on your side. This might be a bit problematic. Your goal in this war is to drain them of their manpower pool, and siege their shit afterwards. Sieging stuff in france before that point is pointless and dangerous. If you can wipe stacks, do it, but i highly doubt you will be able to without forced march, so don't be too keen on it and get caught in bad battles in France. As long as you trade manpower positively, you are fine. You have to balance your manpower vs your money, you can just recruit a large army of mercs and let them take the main brunt of the damage which will cost more money but less manpower. | ||

They had two 2-star generals, however with only like 3 fire and 2 shock each. My generals were able to keep up. France kept taking awful fights against an army consisting of 80% mercs, I could keep that high amount of mercs up without losing much money. Their manpower was gone faster than I expected it to go away. Mine was almost untouched. After a while I got to tech 7 and built 10 artillery units. Despite artillery not being as good early game, they were enough to make my army stronger quality wise. Saxony sieged almost all of Bohemia, I guess I prefer that over them going for my own land. Overall this war went a lot easier than I thought it would go. | ||

Yeah they are still mad (as of 1515). They have grown about 6 provinces since then. They only have the vassal attitude at exactly +200. I'm doing great currently -- secured most of the balkans, kicked Veniceand the pope out of Italy, vassalized Naples. Only for some reason the reformation is going HAM on Central-Europe. I try to force religion as much as I can. And I can a lot -- France kicks everyone's asses so I can steal their lunch money or grab some IA from forcing a release in a seperate peace. If I recall corectly forcing religion gives IA right? I'm working on the third reform and I'm currently experiencing that my IA stays at 0. I try to keep every country as small as possible, but the amount of IA lost from countries switching religion is greater than the amount I can get from releasing countries. I force most of them back to Catholicism, but that doesn't give me any IA. | ||

I guess I'll be able to get the next reform when the reformation is over. Edit: just tried enforcing peace, what I am supposed to do for it to give me IA? if you take over war leader, as long as you win you should get IA. in other news, playing as protectorate is hilariously broken. Full annexing countries and spitting them out as correct-religion vassals is the best. | ||

I used enforce peace like 3 times now on countries within the HRE (haven't really discovered outside of Europe yet) and did not receive IA from forcing them to pay up their lunch money. | ||
