I was messing around with merc maintenance modifiers as Burgundy and I could get them high, but not to the point where it would be too game changing. Since them I expected them to balance out these kind of things. Jake really shows that, in order to be the best at this game, you need to find as many loopholes you can possibly find.

For that achievement you need Russian, Persian and Chinese region under you or your vassals control. The first 50 years was hard and based somewhat on luck, after that it was relatively easy, still it was fun! ![]() Album with ironman proof

Mongolia starts as the vassal of Oirat and Manchu declares on you within the first year 90% of the time.

First, the Golden Horde start out in a good spot, bordering 2 gold provinces and the Ottoman that can help you out a lot. Second, the Golden Horde can also westernize long before Mongolia. Third, you need to deal with Russia for the Great Khan, and the Golden Horde can do that from the start. What I did was to declare war on Georgia before unpausing and vassalized them, I also improved relations with the Ottoman, royal married them and allied them when I could. I then vassalized Crimea over 2 wars, and took the gold from Kazan. I also annexed Ryzan and released them as a Sunni vassal. All within 10 years of start. Then I looked towards Muscovy, inspired by DDRJake's Golden Horde campaign I waited for Muscovy to move their army onto my plain province and attacked them there with a 100% horse army. I continued to do that until Muscovy had no more manpower, which took me 3-5 years I think. At that time Novgorod saw that Muscovy was weak and attacked. I made them release their vassals and took 3 province from them, gave the Russian to Ryzan for coring and converting. Then I reformed the government and westernized (thanks to Genoa). I could easily take over Europe, but I roleplayed. France was a beast tho, they had more force limit than I but slightly less manpower (410k I think) and slightly less basetax (like 15 less). Impressive for their size.

With those 2 gold provinces it is easily affordable with a full force limit cavalry army that with the 25% shock on your plains steamroll Muscovy with ease and minimal losses.

And yes, horde loot twice as much gold, which helps immensely in China and Muscovy. None of these bonuses are visible when you see the tool tip for the nomad government and I only learned about them recently, so Paradox could defiantly do something to clarify that, then again, they could do that about 100 other things as well..

It is possible to expand that much without any coalitions. That said, the HRE is easily the worst place in the game AE wise. Relations hits from vassalizing hre members, relations hit on any annexed territory if you aren't allied/loved by the emperor, huge culture group, unified religion, tons of shared borders, etc. The HRE allows unlimited vassals and 1 click annexing of all vassals, so there has to be some drawback.

They are both quite awesome, with a lot of really excellent play.)

What everybody can learn from that run is that unless you play in the earliest versions before they patched away things or cheat it isn't worth the time as he did it. The colonize to abandon for monarchy points, over and over and over. Then mass recruiting and cancelling to get the event to trigger again. He thinks it was possible to do single tag WC that way if you plan and execute it better but has no interest in doing it. Seemed he forced himself to finish it at all.
