You can do this by 100%ing a Western nation and forcing them to make you protectorate. Only works for Muslim and below techgroups, obviously. You can't protectorate Muslim countries.

I think I'm gonna give the next big version a go when it appears on a certain data distribution network of Swedish origin. Johan might still end up with my money.

So it is something that doesnt really work out for most people and all requires quite a bit of planning and can backfire. You can easily lose your protectorate status if your overlord loses a war, you lose all your subjects the moment you become a subject, you can lose control of defensive wars since your overlord gets called into them, there are some limitations to subject nations, etc.

I don't think the entire world can be his without Vassals any longer. Hard to get it all as it is. Portugal is still large after he manages to cut down Spain.

any suggestions for good ideas for Venice? Going to try to conquer every COT. Pleasantly surprised my Ottoman headshot strategy still works, too.

Army builder tool looks amazing! Thanks Paradox! (Hopefully we'll get something similar with mercs as well) Rebel island relocation means more Gotland right?

The strongest (and thus usually best for beginner) countries are the major players like Ottomans, Castille, France, England, Austria. Next would be medium sized countries like Venice, Denmark, Muscovy, Brandenburg, Portugal or bigger countries with some major problems like Poland.

![]() I am playing as a norse king with the old gods enabled. I wanted to make a prepared invasion of England before my first ruler dies, but i am already too big. So my plan was to grant my first son Ireland when he is 16, shrink down to only Norway and start the prepared invasion for that really nice CB + event spawned troops. The only problem: After creating Ireland, i can only give my son one measly County. After he got it, it won't let me grant him anymore landed titles. Everyone one else in my realm, i can give the whole kingdom at once, but he can't receive a second county, he can't receive one of my duchies and not the kingdom. Is that a bug? Is it intended? Help ![]()

Help ![]() It's intended. Gavelkind succession means that the game will restrict what you can give to your heirs so that you can't game the succession laws by giving all your primary titles to your first-born son or whatever.
