Anyone else raising their eyebrow at the Cavs helping facilitate Dwight's move to the Nets to join Deron and JJ? Dan Gilbert, the guy who threw a hissy fit when Lebron went to MIA and when CP3 almost went to the Lakers, is now helping to create another superteam in his team's conference? The guy who was whining about big market teams forming "imbalanced" teams and messing with competitive fairness in the NBA?

I know it sounds like Lakers homerism, but I would think it'd make more sense to try to send D12 to the Western Conference as opposed to giving the Cavs one more superteam (a fair description despite Ace's concerns/criticisms IMO) to contend with. If they don't want to help the Lakers, the Cavs could at least try to force Dwight to be traded to ATL, DAL or HOU, where he would not be creating yet another "big 3" in a large market.

I don't think it matters that much. Does this make Dan Gilbert a hypocrite? Yeah but he was always a hypocrite. He was a hypocrite the second he offered Lebron the max, got turned down and called him a coward. As we all know, cowards should be offered $18 million over 5 years every time.

An angle I had not considered but is mentioned in comments all over ESPN is that Gilbert wants to create a superteam to prevent Lebron from winning more rings. Whether a Deron/JJ/D12 core can actually prevent or even challenge MIA making it to the Finals over the next few seasons or not, that's a pretty desperate and sad move if true in any way.

Hollinger, Lowe, and Matt Moore have but it's all on Twitter. I haven't seen an in depth article breaking down the situation yet. Either way if the Cavs helped move Dwight to Brooklyn in a 3 team trade I actually think the league office would get involved. The Nets have nothing to offer since they gave away all of their draft picks. A 3rd team getting involved gets nothing out of the deal with Orlando either. Since Orlando is the one that needs assets back and has to get rid of Turk and or Richardson's contract the 3rd team would be taking on salary and get 0 draft picks back in a deal.

Add in that Cleveland can sign Kris Humphries as a free agent without even dealing with the Nets and I think this is just all a bullshit rumor. The Nets have no draft picks, Orlando doesn't want Marshon Brooks, and Humphries is going to be a Free Agent. They are boned and anything involving Cleveland would be them willingly taking crap just to help Brooklyn. Dan Gilbert really is that petty though.

I find it interesting that Gilbert has to be the one meddling in this attempted trade. Like did Prokhorov corner Gilbert in the restroom?

Cleveland like Ace said literally has to swallow a bunch of shit in order for the Nets to land Howard. There are some rumors that the Lakers might be interested in this circus as well centered (no pun intended) around Bynum, but Bynum's not willing to guarantee that he would re-sign with the Magic which puts them back at square one.

Don't see how this makes any sense for CLE. I saw that they were giving up Walton's contract, but then I saw that it's an expiring deal. It says that they're getting a 1st round pick, but whose pick would be better than theirs? Maybe ORL, but it's not like CLE is so much better than ORL that they'd be getting a significant boost in draft position. There really appears to be absolutely no basketbal-related reason for CLE to be involved.

Everything I heard is that CLE only does this to get a draft pick. There is no point w/o the pick b/c they don't really want Humphries. Humphries is making this more complicated now, saying he wants a 3 year deal. Cleveland would surely not want that for just a pick and the max $3 mil a team can give them in a trade.

It could be real, it could just be a business move by ORL to see what the other teams are willing to raise their offer to. It also could be a move to see what other teams want to get involved to be the 3rd team. I think ORL is just trying to gauge the final value they can get for Howard. Does someone offer them something more now? A leak like this is usually done for a reason I think. Although the possibility is definitely there of this materializing, I have to think there were other reasons to let this get out.

There are multiple teams being thrown around as a 4th team in the deal. I've heard Clippers, Houston, and even the Lakers as ponies to put up a pick. Of course none of these teams are going to throw away draft picks for stuff they don't want. This is just getting absurd.

Clippers can surely benefit from not having Howard in LA with the Lakers. Houston prob just wants rebuilding pieces and if it can get them for essentially doing nothing and making a cool $3 mil, I am sure it would take it. F-ing Clippers jumping on this is kinda smart actually, ugh.

I'd trade a sub-lottery/playoff first rounder for Marshon Brooks. He's at least a 7 or 8 guy. Most post-lottery picks don't even stick past their first contract.
