Once upon a time the Magic wanted to acquire Nash and Dwight was on board with it. I'm not convinced Bynum's plodding pace fits with Nash (it doesn't actually), or that Drew will adapt to it (he won't, Shaq didn't). I think Howard, if healthy, fits much better with the Lakers+Nash than Bynum ever will, and gives the Lakers a more consistent watchdog near the rim when those speedy guards and LBJ's get past our 70+ year old backcourt.

Good post seanisgrand, agree entirely. I had heard magic wanted to include j.rich in any deal to the lakers too so wonder if this complicates things now.

There's a lot more to defense than just staying in front of the guy you're guarding. Nash just isn't really good in many aspects of defense that matter on the perimeter. Either way I think it was a good move for the Lakers.

I've been ranting on that series for a long time now. People say "oh OKC ez 4-1, Lakers suck". Lakers lost games 2 and 4 late in the 4th with leads. God I hate Bynum for saying "Oh closing out games is ez derp". I somehow KNEW instant karma would come and bite us in the ass.

Agree with the faster paced game though. I think we need Howard, someone who puts effort into his game to help others, while Bynum is just too immature and does what he wants.

I'm no Lakers fan, but I've been advocating a trade for Howard for some time, it just makes sense to me. I think he can be the most exciting player on the court, only when playing in the right scheme, and the Nets do not have that scheme.

Agreed. I think he was more referring to people saying how Westbrook is gonna blow by Nash. Which is true, but he would have done that to Ramon or most people for that matter.

Kyle Lowry is sent to Toronto for a deal including future lottery picks to Houston!

I like the idea of Lowry in Toronto, he was sooo good in the first half of the season! Hope he stays healthy

Wow, nice job Toronto. Depending on what picks were traded, etc., it actually sounds like a decent plan B for them after failing to get Nash.

edit: sources say it wasn't a Plan B. They wanted him even if they got Nash.

they traded an unprotected pick? oh geez..still haven't checked out deal but about to as soon as I post this.
EDIT:guaranteed lottery pick wtf...if it's in the 11-13s or wherever the lottery ends it might not be so bad, this one kind of hard to gauge somewhat. I do like Lowry's play and his contract is nice but not if it turns out to be a one-year rental. Too many questions so I'll just wait and see.

Houston's luck sounds a lot like the Wizards luck. They had a string or recent years where the lottery gave them the lowest pick possible for their slot.

It seems like EJ really doesn't want the Hornets to match. He might pull a Joe Johnson and explicitly ask for an effective "release." He'll probably never forgive the Clips but I still think that the Clippers were his destiny
