Why? Can Kobe Co-exist? They both need the ball a lot don't they?

The way I see it, Nash is much more of a passer and will (potentially) help Kobe continuously be able to take the shots he loves to take

Steve Nash is also a shooter.

Steve Nash is also a shooter.

He averaged 12 ppg on 50ish% shooting on a team that had no 20 point scorer last year and he'll somehow take shots away from Kobe for his own? rofl

So exciting to hear that Nash is going to the Lakers! It'll be interesting to see how it all works out and hopefully it does. Glad we had that trade exception to use for Nash.

He said shooter, not scorer. Those are decent numbers.
And he's giving Kobe shots, not taking them. That's the point of having Nash in the first place.

Nash wants a ring, NY and Toronto didn't stand a chance when the Lakers stepped up. Can't wait for the new season to start, let"s get Nash that ring come on Lakers.

Of everyone involved, Kobe was the biggest surprise for me, pushing so strongly for this trade and all.
Considering how much he's hated everything sun-related these years, still wanted to get Nash onboard. Guess he really, really want that last ring....Almost as much as Nash wants his first lol

Nash is the ultimate plug-and-play player for me. You could put him on any team and he'd make them better. He'll everyone on that team better looks and the fact he's still such a good shooter give Kobe more space to operate on the perimeter.

I never got the feeling that the Lakers hated the Suns so much as they competed very hard against them. Apart from the Kobe-Raja Bell clashes, I never really saw any sign of bad blood (and I'm pretty sure Kobe tried to get Raja to the Lakers after, so not sure that even counts). Most Lakers fans I know have always respected Nash, although they (like many other non-Lakers fans) questioned his second MVP award. I'm not surprised to hear that Kobe respects Nash and his game, and I don't see a massive shift in how Lakers fans see Nash being necessary. How can you hate the guy really?

It's a competitive rivalry more so than it is bad blood. As far as I know the Suns have a healthy respect for Kobe Bryant and the Lakers and the feeling is mutual. Alvin Gentry and Kobe Bryant have appeared nothing if not friendly with each other every time I've seen them, same is also true of Grant Hill and Kobe who've been matched up with each other for years now.

I'm curious as to what the Magic could do going forward. Most GMs are looking for at least something for their star player, but the argument that you have a middling team, no attractive assets for a big name free agent, and not receiving high draft picks doesn't seem like a position any team wants to be in. Would it be worth it for the Magic to hoard resources like Houston and make a playoff fodder team, while not receiving high draft picks?

Wow, nash is exactly what the lakers needed. Someone who can make pau and bynum that much scarier and get the entire team involved (cause kobe just wasn't doing it) and also take some attention off of kobe.

These sports off-seasons are going to give a stroke. Nash to the hated Lakers and hated Peyton Manning to the Broncos. It's like my whole worldview has suffered an earthquake.

What's next Alex Rodriguez to the Rockies?

Also it will be cool to watch Nash with a solid team around him.

I also remember Kobe trying to "recruit" Raja Bell when he was a free agent. He did the same with Shane Battier the previous offseason and he probably did the same with Artest.

By itself, I don't like the Nash trade that much: 27m over 3 years to a 38 year old guard who cannot defend is a "win now or bust" move. And as it stands, LAL still cannot get past OKC or MIA. But they did need a PG, and perhaps can put together more trades, giving them a better chance next season.

One of the Laker's biggest problem was not being able to deal with quick/explosive PG's. It will be interesting to see how they deal with them seeing as Kobe's only getting older and stacking up the minutes on them knees of his.

I dunno guys. From what I saw last season it was the stagnating offense that would just freeze up that would cost the Lakers crucial games.

With a guy like Steve Nash, that's not something you have to worry about. sure he's a defensive liability, but you're surrounding him now with 4 other great defensive players something he didn't really have in Phoenix. I think it's something the Lakers can live with.

I mean.... pick and roll with Nash, Kobe and Bynum? It's a terrifying prospect. I am so excited.
