I found the invulnerability piece. It's the EventListener override on lines 156-167 of the source file. Pretty sure you could just remove that and invulnerability should disappear. I am unsure about secondary effects though; you may end up dying from flying into the ground for example. Caution and trials are adviced.

Also, I really should buy this shit and get into the damn server, right?

Okay, wow. I wasn't expecting this many people to be interested.

Some basic things!

1) If you're new to Minecraft, you should check out Paul's "How to survive your first night" video.

It gives you most of the basics and you get a good idea of how Minecraft's mechanics work.

2) We don't know how well the server will run. We're pretty sure it can handle it, but you never know. Which leads into:

3) If anything explodes today, bear with us until we can fix it. Expect snags in the system and be pleasantly surprised when they don't happen! Which leads into:

4) The first few days to a week is one big test, so if there are any issues, give us feedback.

There's going to be a bit of chaos at the start, but I know most of you guys and you're good people. To alleviate some of the chaos, I would like it if everyone stayed around the spawn / stage area when you log in, just for 15 minutes or so, until we get everything settled. Once the official welcomes are over, we go do our thing.

Brief update

We're having some sever issues; nothing severe, just requiring a reset. Working on setting everything back up asap.

We were also trying out a new fly mod alongside some server-side controls to make it work. Long story short, it's awesome and we'll be using it later. Equally long story short: We need to get the kinks worked out, so we'll be using it later. Until then, pegasi will fly with the dumb mod we had set up earlier, meaning as long as they're in fly mode, they are invincible. Again, not a huge problem for a few days, but I'm asking you again to please not abuse it / swim in lava, you showboaters.

Here's hoping today goes smoothly. If it doesn't (quite possible), apologies in advance! Consider this Stress Test Week.

There's a lot of information to give you and I don't have a lot of time. So screw it, I'll put this here and update the OP later.

Earth Ponies need to know the following:

You have almost double the inventory space of everyone else, but the way this is set up is a bit of a work-around. We're using a mod called VirtualChest, accessible only to Earth ponies. Here's the basics.

When you log into the server for the first time, you don't have a chest yet. To get one, you have to type:
/gp b

This sets up the "chest" for you. Once you have a virtual chest, you can type this command at any time:
/gp c

This command opens up your inventory + chest. Alternatively, if you have an actual chest item in your inventory, you can put it in your hands and left click. This will have the same effect as /gp c.
Earth Ponies can execute a super jump. This is also a bit of a work-around at the moment. To jump higher, you have to have a feather in your hand and right click. Yes, it's kind of silly but that's how a lot of these mods work.
Earth Ponies also have access to a special lava-powered furnace. I'll have a tutorial up later for how to build one; for now, just assume they're awesome.
Lastly, Earth Ponies can plant apple trees. Again, I'll have a more in-depth description/tutorial later, but for now, here are the basics: You have to use a hoe on the ground to turn it to soil, then plant an apple. This makes an apple tree. Use bonemeal to fertilize it. This tree will drop apples over time (drop rate customizable server-side).

Unicorns need to know the following:

You have magic! Here's a very brief magic tutorial:

Your basic chat command is: /cast

This is the key to unlocking all your stuff. Here's a brief overview:

      /cast list - lists all the /cast commands you know, including your spells
      /cast blink - casts the spell "Blink" through the /cast chat command

Straightforward. But here's where it gets awesome.

You can bind spells to items, and then simply left click while holding that item to cast it, instead of using the chat command. Here's how:

      /cast bind blink - binds the spell "Blink" to whatever item you are carrying

With that wand item equipped, you can now press the left mouse button to cast Blink.

I strongly recommend only using items that have no in-world purpose - that is, you should use a string or spider's eye instead of a placeable block or a weapon.

(Note: Most spells auto-bind to sticks, so if you equip a stick, chances are good you can use it as a wand without having to /cast bind a spell to it first. In short, you can only cast spells you know/own, but they often auto-bind to sticks until you bind it to something else. Just grab a stick and right click to cycle through all the spells you can cast, and left click to cast it.)
There will be multiple ways to learn new spells, and I'll get into further detail with that later. (Spellbooks, tomes, etc.) For now, Alicorns can teach new spells to individual Unicorns, who can then teach them on to other Unicorns. You'll find out more soon. After all, it's worthy of exploration.

Pegasi need to know the following:

You can fly. Type /fly in chat to enable fly mode, then press left shift to take off in the direction you are looking. Yes, this is the "fly mode" that renders you invincible as a stupid side effect.

Until we can incorporate the other, better fly mod, you cannot currently hover. So we've set up this work-around:
Pegasi have access to the spell "Carpet". It's part of the same mod that grants Unicorns magic, so the command is the same:

/cast carpet

When you do this, you create moving plates of glass beneath your feet that follow your character. While Carpet is active, jump to go up and sneak to go down (defaults: space and shift). This acts like a duct-tape-like "hover" ability, with an additional bonus: You can build blocks on the glass plates. This is an easy way to begin construction of something in mid-air, as whatever you build won't disappear when the Carpet spell does.

It's a temporary work-around, but it will suffice.
You can change the weather using a /command line. This is just for fun and mostly cosmetic, and the effect is instant. Try it out when you first join the server to see how it works, but don't do it too often after that; once the server is running, I'd rather not see the weather change 20 times a minute. =)

We'll almost certainly have some other weather mods/commands later, but we'll have to get to them once everything else is running and working properly.
Also, as a Pegasus, you take no fall damage (regardless of /fly mode). Have fun jumping off shit.

All types need to know the following:

It's possible to read and write books in-game. It's just a fun little mod to add variety and little else (but it does tie into Unicorns' ability to write spell tomes in the future). I'll have some more detailed stuff on this later; we're just super busy scrambling to get the server ready right now.

Rain can be used to put out fires. Won't be needed much beyond that; it's just a fun little thing. We should have some better weather mods later where Pegasi will have to work together. Right now it's just there because, hey, Pegasi.
