A My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic-themed survival server Minecraft 1.8.8 | PvM / Build | Custom | Classes & Races Server IP: www.liquestria.net
Features
Minecraft since 1.0.0
Liquestria has a long pedigree. Over the past four years(!), our few but dedicated builders have made our worlds great. From the Valley of the Moon to the Lunar Cathedral, from the eastern Neighpon to the Archipelago University, the years have been kind to our little community. It’s a persistent project available to those of you who want to scratch that particular Minecraft itch in a social environment.
You can play as one of five visually and mechanically distinctive races in Liquestria — Earth Pony, Unicorn, Pegasus, Zebra, or Griffon. All five offer additional skills and attributes unique to their respective classes on top of the complete vanilla Minecraft experience.
With nine interconnected worlds (and counting), Liquestria always has a variety of projects. From the primary showcase world of Liquestria, to the vast survival freebuild world Everfree, to the cloud world Cirrus, and to the great mountains of the Griffon’s homeland of The Eyrie, this server was built to cater to most of the tastes of our #tlponies community.
Some of the worlds are very recent, and not much love and attention has been given them just yet. They are there as blank slates, a place for people who want to start a new project. Hopefully, we have something for just about everyone.
Most of the code that defines our extended classes and races system was written from scratch specifically for Liquestria. Our players come to us with concerns or ideas for abilities and skills, and if at all possible we try to find a way to make those ideas work. This system gets added to all the time, so it’s not uncommon to wake up one morning and discover that you can now move creepers with your mind.
This does mean that we put a greater emphasis on fun than we do on balance. We deemed this to be a justifiable sacrifice if it meant you could throw a giant glowing sphere of energy that explodes into lightning.
Our optional client pack download improves the server experience greatly. It features optional atmospheric sounds and music, a colourful and vibrant remix of the classic John Smith Legacy resource pack, easy-to-install shaders, and a few client mods which improve server accessibility. There will be several versions of each pack available (with and without music), and you can grab whichever one suits your tastes or needs.
Liquestria is nevertheless fully playable on a vanilla Minecraft client, and we take care to keep ourselves compatible and comparable. We want everyone to be able to connect, regardless of system.
Reliable Server & High Uptime
Our host is a strong German-built machine. Our sysadmin is a strong German-born administrator.
It would be a bit intimidating if they weren’t on our side.
Pic unrelated.
Races & Classes
In Liquestria you play as one of five races: Earth Pony, Unicorn, Pegasus, Zebra, or Griffon. All five can do just about everything you can do in vanilla Minecraft, but they each have their own unique skills and abilities on top of that which offer some interesting quirks and gameplay mechanics.
All of the races have their own traits (Earth Ponies are more hardy and athletic, Pegasi can fly) and their own particular set of abilities (Unicorns can cast various kinds of spells, Griffons are master archers who can launch volleys of arrows).
When you apply to become a member of Liquestria, you are asked to choose between one of the five. You can change your race later until you find one you really like. We would prefer for people to eventually stick with one race, though, so once you have some play time, give it some thought.
Earth Ponies are the workhorses, athletic and strong. They deal more damage and take less damage than the other races, and they can jump longer distances and carry more weight (almost double the normal inventory space). They also have access to a variety of tools, such as the portable workbench and repair block. They can grow and farm apple trees, which provide most of the food for Liquestria.
Their talents are geared towards mining, farming, woodcutting, melee combat, and construction.
Herbivore (Bonus to vegetables and processed food, penalties for eating meat)
[SOON] More experience gained from mining
[SOON] More experience gained from killing monsters
[SOON] Better repair functionality
Abilities
Carry and use a backpack
Carry and use a portable workbench
[SOON] Repair damaged equipment using alternative methods
Plant and tend apple trees which drop apples over time
Stoneworker – convert and carve stones for building
Cobblestone -> Mossy cobblestone
Stone brick -> Mossy stone brick
Stone brick -> Cracked stone brick
Stone brick -> Chiselled stone brick
Can dig grass, mycelium, and snow blocks without silk touch
Playing as an Earth Pony
Earth Ponies are athletic and strong. They move faster, break blocks faster, and jump higher than the other races, all without needing that fancy schmancy magic or those cheater wings of some ponies we could mention. They are the kings and queens of passive traits, and as a result they are easy and intuitive to play. Have you played vanilla Minecraft? This is that, but crunchier.
Athleticism
Most of the Earth Pony traits are passive, which means they always function without your input. Faster block breaking, faster mining, faster movement, increased underwater breathing — these are all passive skills.
A few of their abilities can be activated and deactivated. For instance, to jump higher, you have to sprint to activate athletic mode. Once done, you can jump far higher and further than normal. To toggle athletic mode off, just crouch and you will return to normal.
Backpack
As an Earth Pony, you have almost double the inventory space of everyone else in the form of a backpack whose contents you cannot lose by dying. This backpack comes equipped with a portable workbench.
Key bindings (if you have downloaded the Liquestria Client Pack):
B – opens the backpack
V – opens the workbench
If you are not using the Macro/Keybind Mod, type these commands in chat:
/b – opens the backpack
/w – opens the workbench
Item Repair Earth Ponies can repair items for much cheaper than the other races, and they keep the enchants when they do. Earth Pony blacksmiths are the best in the realm. [NOTE: Repair functionality under repair. We will update this once it’s ready.]
Stonecrafting
Earth Ponies are expert craftsmen, and masters of working with stone. In addition to breaking stone faster than other races, they can carve or chisel stone bricks naturally, letting them create great looking stone structures on the fly.
Convert Cobblestone -> Mossy cobblestone: Right-click with seeds
Convert Stone brick -> Mossy stone brick: Right-click with seeds
Convert Stone brick -> Cracked stone brick: Left-click with flint
Convert Stone brick -> Chiselled stone brick: Right-click with flint
Apple trees & farming Earth Ponies are also expert farmers, and they can plant apple trees via the well-known Appleseed plugin. Apples are the most desirable food source in Liquestria, and our farmers work hard to keep us supplied.
To plant an apple tree, you have to till the soil using a hoe, then plant the apple as you would a seed. This will create a planted sapling of an apple tree. If you fertilize it with bonemeal, it will grow into a large apple tree.
The apple trees drop apples over time. After some time has passed, the tree will require further fertilization before it will grow more apples. You can see whether or not a tree is an Apple tree, and whether or not it requires fertilization, by equipping a wood hoe and right clicking on the trunk. If it requires fertilization, fertilize it with more bonemeal.
You can also mark the trees with signs, which will automatically display what type of tree it is, and whether or not it requires fertilizer. Place a sign on the tree, and write [Appleseed] in the top line, like this:
The sign will change to display the tree type (in our case, “apple”). This makes them easy to differentiate from the other trees near your orchard. The sign will also tell you if the tree needs fertilization – note the colour of the text. If it’s green, it’s healthy and dropping items. If it’s red, it requires fertilization in the form of bonemeal.
Unicorns are students of magic. They can learn and cast a wide range of spells, and they can create items and artifacts based on their knowledge and understanding of magic. They begin the game with few spells, but can learn over three dozen — some entertaining but mostly niche, and some that are very useful and powerful. They can command the elements, move items at range, and travel long distances with an effort of will and power. They are commonly called upon to create waypoints and enchanted items.
Their talents are geared towards all things magical.

[SOON] Enchanting
[SOON] Archiving
Playing as a Unicorn
Unicorns have access to an incredibly diverse set of skills and spells that lets them explore, fight monsters, construct buildings, and set up all kinds of utilities and assets for other players. They can cast an array of fun and interesting spells, but using them properly requires study and preparation.
While you can play them just fine without spending much time learning how their abilities work, you will need to put in some effort if you want to know and understand everything they are capable of. The initial setup takes a bit of time, and you have to accumulate new spells over time, but for your efforts you are rewarded by being able to empower weapons and tools, teleport across maps and worlds, and launch glowing globes of energy that explode with lightning and burning.
Spellcasting
The main feature of the class is the spellcasting. You start off with seven spells, and can learn over two dozen as of writing, with more being added frequently.
Click here [coming soon!] for a Spellcasting tutorial
Runecrafting
The second feature of the class is Runecrafting ability. This is a very powerful, but often neglected art due to its unique challenges of preparation and memorization. Runecrafting lets you temporarily imbue incredibly powerful effects onto your tools and items, convert and move large pieces of land, and create and use teleporters.
Click here [coming soon!] for a Runecrafting tutorial
Enchanting
Unicorns are expert enchanters. They have an easy time getting the levels necessary for enchanting, and they have access to a second, more potent version of the enchanting table which lets them create specific items and artifacts that are more powerful than the standard stock.
The script that fuels this system is unique to our server, and is being rewritten and updated for 1.8. It may take some time before it’s done.
Click here [coming soon!] for an Enchanting tutorial
Farbuild
Unicorns can “farbuild”. By crouching and right-clicking, they are able to place blocks from up to 7 blocks away, helping them erect walls and fixtures without scaffolding. This is a passive ability and requires no mana.
Mana
Mana is the source of magic, and is expended when you cast spells. Unicorns regenerate mana over time, but they can also draw energy from the environment to do so much more quickly. While holding nothing, click on the ground with the left and right mouse button simultaneously, and stand still for a few seconds while you prepare.
Study of Magic
Unicorns occasionally spend a lot of time enchanting, crafting, and creating assets for other players. To gain the experience necessary to do this, they can study the art of magic. Simply visit any library, town hall, or bookstore that has a study section with magical tomes.
Examine the various bookshelves in the study hall, and then sit down at a table. The more books you grab, the more experience you’ll get. Once you’re at the table, read the books.
Pegasi can fly, which in the world of Minecraft is an incredibly useful ability. They are particularly suited for building constructions in the sky, and have the ability to prevent blocks from falling to the ground as they do so. They can change the weather at will, and even call down a storm that strikes enemies with lightning from above. They make excellent scouts and harvesters of rare materials, substances like clay, pumpkins, and cacti.
Their talents are geared towards mobility and speed, construction, and exploration.
Herbivore (Bonus to vegetables and processed food, penalties for eating meat)
Abilities
Command the weather
Command lightning bolts
Create white wool
Dye placed wool
Portable glass platform
Playing as a Pegasus
Just take to the skies! Flight is the most generally useful ability in Minecraft, and Pegasi are good at it. Building, exploring, mining, and fighting — Pegasi can do all of it proficiently and safely. If you’ve ever played creative mode, you know what’s up.
Once you get used to the flight controls, start looking at a few of the neat abilities Pegasi get that make their lives simpler. The carpet platform is a big one as it simplifies the construction of sky buildings. And then, once you get bored, you can turn the weather stormy and start throwing lightning bolts — because you are a Pegasus, and that means that you are awesome.
Flight
There are currently two ways to access the power of flight on our server:
The optional client download pack which includes a fly mod
In-game creative-style flight using the command /f
Main differences between client mod and creative style:
Creative style is available out-of-the-box for normal, unmodded Minecraft clients, whereas the client mod requires a download and installation
Client mod has two fly speeds (via a button toggle) whereas creative style only has one
Key bindings are different
Client mod uses F to engage fly mode, space & shift to ascend & descend, and E to activate speed boost. Keys are customizable, but the mod is in development and is slightly buggy in this regard
Creative style flight uses already-existing keybindings to function: double jump (jump while in mid-air) to engage fly mode, then jump/crouch to ascend/descend.
Creative style is way more “floaty” whereas the client mod offers sharp movement and better accuracy
Command Weather
You can change the weather using a /command line:
/sun
/storm
Lightning Bolt
Pegasi can call powerful bolts of lightning. They can only do this while outside and during a storm. To summon a bolt of lightning, either use the corresponding key in the optional Macro/Keybind Mod included in the client download, or bind the ability to an item by holding it in your hand and typing /c bind pegasus-lightning. You can then left-click to activate it. We recommend using a non-block item, like sticks, blaze rods, and the like.
Cloud expert
To simulate Pegasi manipulating clouds to make cloud buildings, Pegasi can generate wool. Right-click while holding shears to generate a stack. You can do this every 20 seconds.
Pegasi can also dye placed wool. Hold any dye and right-click a placed wool block to dye it. This consumes 1 dye per block.
To help prevent blocks from falling to the ground (or, in the case of Cirrus, out of the map) when working with constructions in mid-air, Pegasi can spawn a platform of glass under their feet. This platform catches falling blocks, and works as a base on which to place blocks for new constructions in the sky without needing blocks leading up to them. Double-click the crouch button to summon and dismiss your glass platform.
Sonic Rainboom
Legends speak of Pegasi that could fly so fast that they create shockwaves in their wake…
Zebras are mysterious wanderers, druids in command of nature as well as expert alchemists. They can tame animals at will, heal themselves and others, and call upon nature to help them. They have innate magical abilities that lets them cast a variety of nature based spells, and they can search for alchemical ingredients to fuel their brewing abilities. They can grow special tree types rare to Liquestria. They are expert herbalists and are proficient in water and nature magic, making them excellent gardeners and healers.
Their talents are geared towards magic, herbalism, and animal care.

Playing as a Zebra
Zebras are druids who can cast nature spells and command animals in combat. As with Unicorns, setting up their spells and abilities requires a bit of patience and preparation, but once you’ve put in the effort you are rewarded with a powerful set of abilities.
In combat, Druids work best when they bring a couple of friends. Be they pets or other players, Zebras have a set of healing spells that keeps everyone alive. They have the most powerful AoE spell in the game in Call Lightning, and combined with Entangle and Geyser they have impeccable crowd control, guaranteed to take the edge off while their pets or poisons clean up the rest.
Outside of combat, pick up herbalism and alchemy. You can grow a bunch of special trees and bushes, [SOON] convert blocks between dirt, grass, and mycelium, and you can make any potion in the game with minimal effort. You’re big on buffs, so make use of that.
Spellcasting
Zebras can cast a variety of nature and water spells, from conjuring bolts of lightning to finding precious new water springs.
Click here [coming soon!] for a Spellcasting tutorial
Alchemy
Zebras are expert brewers and herbalists. They can search for alchemical ingredients anywhere in the Everfree Forest to fuel their potions. Go into the forest and search (right-click while not holding an item) on any flower, grass, or vegetation, and you will spend a few moments searching the area for usable ingredients for your potions. You can do this every 30 seconds.
As a result of their alchemical skills, Zebras also poison some enemies on hit. This is a passive effect and doesn’t require any mana or ingredients.
Mana
Mana is the source of magic, and is expended when you cast spells. Zebras regenerate mana over time, but they can also draw energy from the environment to do so much more quickly. While holding nothing, click on the ground with the left and right mouse button simultaneously, and stand still for a few seconds while you prepare.
Stone and moss
As druids, Zebras can turn stones into their mossy equivalents. This costs 1 seed for every block.
Convert Cobblestone -> Mossy cobblestone: Right-click with seeds
Convert Stone brick -> Mossy stone brick: Right-click with seeds
Nature
Being expert herbalists and gardeners, Zebras can plant and grow several types of trees.
Special trees
[Coming soon!]
Fruit trees
Zebras can also plant special, ingredient-dropping trees using the well-known Appleseed plugin. The two trees currently available to Zebras are cocoa trees and golden apple trees.
To plant one, you have to till the soil using a hoe, then plant the ingredient (cocoa or golden apple) as you would a seed. This will create a planted sapling. If you fertilize it with bonemeal, the sapling will grow into a large tree.
A cocoa tree, for example, will drop cocoa beans over time. After some time has passed, the tree will require further fertilization before it will grow and drop more cocoa beans. You can see whether or not a tree is a cocoa tree, and whether or not it requires fertilization, by equipping a wood hoe and right-clicking on the trunk. If it requires fertilization, fertilize it with more bonemeal.
You can also mark the trees with signs, which will automatically display what type of tree it is, and whether or not it requires fertilizer. Place a sign on the tree, and write [Appleseed] in the top line, like this:
The sign will change to display the tree type (in the case of the one in the screenshot, “apple”). This makes them easy to differentiate from the other trees near your orchard. The sign will also tell you if the tree needs fertilization – note the colour of the text. If it’s green, it’s healthy and dropping items. If it’s red, it requires fertilization in the form of bonemeal.
Griffons hail from a faraway land, and are uncommonly seen in Liquestria. They are proficient flyers, and moreover they are expert archers and warriors. They have the highest base damage of all the races, they can perform special fighting combos, and they can send monsters flying with the power of their roar alone. They are also completely immune to poison damage. Uniquely among the races in Liquestria, they are omnivorous, and actually gain significant bonuses from eating meat. They can see perfectly in the dark.
Their talents are geared towards mobility and speed, exploration, fighting, and construction.
Omnivore (Bonus when eating meat and cooked meat, less benefit from vegetables)

Playing as a Griffon
Spread your wings! Flight is a powerful tool in Minecraft, and Griffons are one of two races with that ability. If you’ve ever played creative mode, you know what’s up.
[SOON] Griffons are exceptional warriors. They have access to a number of combo abilities they can string together in a fight, and they can perform special moves to take on several monsters at once. Remember to use your Voice skills — you can stun or throw enemies away from you.
Griffons are also expert archers, and you’d be wise to pick up a good bow as soon as you find one. You can switch between several skills on the fly, and quickly let loose a volley of arrows.

Griffons can tap into their animal halves and use their voice to intimidate and command their foes.
Roar Call upon your Lion half to hurl enemies away from you. Crouch down and click both mouse buttons at the same time, and watch your enemies fly.
Screech Call upon your Eagle half to stun a single target with a high-pitched cry. Click both mouse buttons at an enemy in range.
Archery
Griffons are expert archers, able to release volleys of arrows in seconds. While wielding a bow, left-click to switch between your bow abilities, and right-click to fire. You must pull the string back far enough for the effect to work.
Multishot Splits one arrow into several that spread out in front of you.
Strafe Fires a volley of arrows in rapid succession.
The Liquestria server consists of several interconnected worlds, most of them with shared inventories and membership lists.
Travel between worlds is available via the harbor, the dragon roost, and the Arcane Hub.
Inventories are shared between all Survival worlds, and the few Creative worlds we have are separate from those. We are predominantly a survival server with classes. If you’re interested in a MLP-themed creative mode environment, Brohoof.com is probably where you want to be.
It is more “inspired by” rather than “based on” the show and its contents. If you are more interested in literally creating a replica of the show, Brohoof.com is still probably where you want to be!
Worlds Liquestria
Liquestria is the titular world and showcase of our server. This world – and the Valley of the Moon specifically – is where most of our old veterans spend their time. It is our common build, our home-away-from-home, a world that is unlikely to ever be completed but where there is always something for us to work on.
Everything here is managed (somewhat loosely by “build” standards) by the Shadowbolts, Liquestria’s combined moderators and building committee. Build privileges are given only to those who are specifically interested in participating in a managed project.
New projects need to be approved by the other members, but it’s up to individual players to make the best of the place we’ve got. For instance, our builders don’t have to conform to a singular vision of explicit aesthetics and colors, but are instead asked to apply their own tastes and personality in making their constructions, so long as they fit the general theme of the Valley — that of a medieval, high-fantasy, airship-loving, magic-sculpted, fantastical world that is the home of grand libraries, wizard’s towers, dragon roosts, and Lunar-themed equivalents of MLP:FiM.
In short, a lot of this, please! ♥
Freebuild Worlds
For players who want a much more laid-back experience where they are free to work on their own preferred projects (within reason!), we have several Freebuild worlds that fit the bill. These are all connected to each other via various forms of transportation, and build permission is mostly the same for all of them: except for the immediate area around spawn, players are generally free to work on their own projects. From secret underground bases and small gardens to huge towers and pixel art displays, you can make it all as long as you follow the rules and exercise basic Minecraft etiquette.
The way we handle land claims across these worlds is quite different from how most servers operate. In order to own your own piece of land, you will first have to carve out a meager existence somewhere as you brave the dangers of monsters at night, lack of food and shelter, and creepers that seek to undo everything you’ve worked for. In this land, you are a pioneer.
Once you’ve established a home of some kind, a place of presence in the world that indicates your willingness to play on our server, you can talk to the Shadowbolts and ask about setting up some regions just for you. We are very happy to accommodate people who are interested in making stuff for the server and being a part of it. We just need you to take the first step.
Everfree
The biggest and most important of these freebuild worlds is The Everfree Forest, wherein the village of Moonwatch is surrounded by vast forests and mountains. Moonwatch itself requires special build permissions as it is intended to provide a safe haven and a stable place for players to stay and travel, but the forest is wild territory. Here, players work on whatever they like.
As the server expands, most of the optional expanded PvE content will take place in Everfree. This is where you will eventually see unique items and artifacts, special monsters, instanced dungeons, quests, and special events. When you choose a race and class, this world is where most of that will come into play. This new content will be siphoned in over time, and it will always remain entirely optional. For anyone who just wants to build stuff in a survival mode environment, Everfree will remain a place for players to do just that.
Cirrus
A world of clouds and home of the Pegasi race, Cirrus is a floating city in the clouds. For fans of the show, it’s kind of Cloudsdale with some Bioshock: Infinite leanings in terms of aesthetics, although it’s a very loose theme. Anyone can build here, but builds must meet certain requirements or they will be removed or relocated to Everfree. Besides this restriction, this world is lightly moderated, and players are free to pursue their own projects.
Cirrus The general idea of Cirrus is that all of the buildings, no matter the material, must at least be partially resting on a bed of “clouds” that suspend the city. Alternatively, steampunk propellers or airships, balloons, and magical creations that levitate on their own accord are also enthusiastically accepted.
Think greek-inspired columns and architecture mixed with fantasy, medieval construction, and light steampunk.
Let your imagination soar.
I’m so sorry. I’ll hit myself.
The Eyrie
The Griffons make their home high in the mountainous spires of the Eyrie. This is a place for vast spires, for platforms and buildings on sheer cliff walls, and for fantastical constructions draped in white and gold. This is the Griffon Empire.
…or at least it would be if we had any time for it.
As with Cirrus, the only real caveat is that buildings must meet certain requirements or they will be removed or relocated to Everfree. Besides this restriction, this world is very lightly moderated, and players are free to pursue their own projects. Eventually we will probably get around to doing something more official with it, but small time as we are, it’s not likely going to become a major project any time soon. It’s there for people who want an amplified world, a place where they have an excuse to go big and glorious with their constructions without it looking out of place.
The basic rules of The Eyrie is that it should be built into the sheer cliffs of the land unless there’s a specific reason not to, it should preferably be big and grand, and it needs to be generally colorful. White and gold make the most thematic sense for the Griffon homelands, but as long as the facade has some colorful banners or impressive gardens it’ll be perfect for The Eyrie. Lastly, the closer things are to spawn, the better it should look.
The Moon
The Moon is where we banish problem players to, an in-joke from MLP. Currently off-limits to players, but it will eventually be open for construction.
Mines
Need a metric Lunaplex of materials? The Mines world is open for you to bulldoze to the ground. Bring TNT or your best pickaxe and go completely nuts. This is the one world where we’re happier if you do completely destroy the landscape.
Note that we will reset this world once in a while, so anything you make will be transient.
Blueprints
A small creative world where people can create and fine-tune their upcoming projects before they start making them in one of our standard worlds. Simply find a plot of land and start building.
We will region stuff for you if you ask, but it is not intended to be permanent. It’s there as an experimental building tool and nothing more. Once projects have been completed in the primary worlds, we will usually wipe any relevant Blueprint schematics so that we can re-use that space for something else. If you are looking for a creative server, we are not currently set up to offer that experience.
The Old World
Liquestria has been around since Minecraft 1.0.0. The Old World is where we started. The map has since been archived and can no longer be modified, but players can wander around and look at our meager beginnings. A lot of great memories were made there.
Travel The Arcane Hub
The Arcane Hub is located in the center of the Valley of the Moon, and is a nexus that connects many of the more esoteric planes. Here, Waypoints to the Mines, Blueprints, and the Old World can be found. Step onto a platform to be instantly transported.
Harbor
The Arcane Hub is located in the center of the Valley of the Moon, and is a nexus that connects many of the more esoteric planes. Here, Waypoints to the Mines, Blueprints, and the Old World can be found. Step onto a platform to be instantly transported.
Liquestria has a lot of worlds you can visit and build on. For the freebuild worlds, the idea is simple: If you follow the basic rules of the server (which can be boiled down to “don’t be a jerk”), you’re free to build whatever cool stuff you like. Apart from 1) spawn locations, and 2) the primary showcase world, it’s all yours. We want to emphasize that our server is, at its heart, very much like a regular Minecraft survival server. Us Alicorns are usually around to fix problems and take care of things as necessary. Any bit of functionality you want to take advantage of on top of that is completely optional.
A perfect example of this: land claims and ownership.
We have no automated area or chest protection. The reason for this approach is because it lets people easily collaborate with other players and contribute to projects. Liquestria is a community server where players are neighbours and friends who know each other. Our application process deters most griefers — in four years, we’ve only ever had two very minor instances of people stealing something or breaking someone else’s wall in anger, and if anyone ever does make a mess we can undo that mess with a keystroke in ten seconds flat. Even so, we know that some players would prefer to have actual ownership over their builds so that they don’t have to rely on us. No problem! We’ll set up regions for you if you ask, and we’ll grant you full ownership of your own work.
Your builds on this server are permanent and transferable. If you later decide to move elsewhere and desire to bring your builds with you, we will save any of your projects as WorldEdit schematics and email them to you. Contact Cane in-game.
Despite the server’s cartoon theme, this is not a place for kids to run around and do whatever they like. It is run by mature adults primarily for other members of our community, and while we welcome everyone with a great deal of enthusiasm, we would like them to wipe their feet on the mat before they come in. We won’t prohibit entry based on age, but we reserve the right to do so based on maturity.
We won’t /give you items. We won’t /give you items if you die in lava. This is primarily a survival mode server, and that includes our showcase world. Hard work is part of the tale, and once you’ve clawed your way out of another pit and erected the final diamond block of the beacon atop your shrine of glory, you’ll feel as though you’ve actually accomplished something.
The above includes our Shadowbolts and Alicorns as well. None of us have the ability to spawn in items, none of us can “cheat” to circumvent survival mode. Doing so would ruin the entire point of playing on this gamemode. The Shadowbolts – our server’s moderators – only have moderator power when something needs to be done. At any other time, they have the exact same classes and permissions that you do. You can tell if someone is using their Shadowbolt powers because their chat colours and prefix tag change.
Alicorns – the top level server admins – can’t cheat either. They simply have all of the permissions that the regular classes do, so that they can do their job as testers and arbiters. That means that any spell cooldowns wizards have, Alicorns have also. Any limitations are inherited.
The only exception is if we are also in an additional “Admin” mode on top of that, where (again) our char colour and prefix tag is different. Usually, I (Cane) will be in this mode because I’m busy coding, and I need admin access to load the new scripts and fun stuff into the server properly. If I’m building something, however, I’m in Alicorn mode same as all the other administrators.
No, you can’t pick Alicorn for your class, but you can hang out in our clubhouse. It’s in a secret closet on the moon.

4. Never put jam on a magnet
5. Never throw your granny in a bag
6. Never suckle the juice out of a vampire
7. Never lean over on a Tuesday
Liquestria is fairly relaxed when it comes to arbitrary rules. As long as you follow basic Minecraft etiquette and common sense, you’ll fit right in.
For the sake of transparency and accountability, we offer this list of rules and permissions for people who want to get a better idea of what we’re about.
Rules
Don’t destroy the landscape on a large scale
If you need huge amounts of materials, go to the Mines world and go nuts
Ditto for Prismarine generators. We will set up a collector in another world
Don’t make any giant eye sores. Giant cubes, stretches of flattened land, drained lakes
Don’t make redstone clocks or mechanisms that lag the server
Build according to the general themes of the world that you are in
Read the Worlds info for specific thematic information
Only Everfree is fully freebuild, and even there we prohibit giant eye sores
If on a managed project, confer with other players before you undertake any major builds. We don’t want you to waste your time by making something we ultimately cannot accommodate
Common sense rules the day in Liquestria
Permissions
The worlds of Everfree, Cirrus, The Eyrie, The Mines, and Blueprints are all open to anyone who have been accepted as members. Players are free to build anywhere outside of spawn, so long as they follow basic Minecraft etiquette (below) and any world-specific rules or themes.
All spawn locations within those worlds, and any immediate areas around spawn (such as the village of Moonwatch in Everfree) are WorldGuarded, and special permission is required to build there. These locations are intended to be safe havens in their respective worlds, a place where people can gather to meet and to travel. If you want to help us design and build these locations, contact us in-game and we’ll talk! We’re always happy to have new people on board for our managed projects.
The main showcase world of Liquestria is another such managed project. This world is special in that anyone can travel through the Valley of the Moon and use its services, but only people with special permission can build or modify anything in it. If you’re interested in participating in Liquestria, you’ll need to talk to us, preferably on our TeamSpeak so that we can coordinate better. You’ll also need to show us that you’re capable of creating some nice things. If accepted, it’ll be your project as well as ours, and you would get to work on your own builds in these worlds. See the Worlds section for more information.
Minecraft Etiquette
When playing on a Minecraft server, there are a few basic things you should adhere to. Pretty much all of them boil down to common courtesy, or at least fall under the golden rule.
1. Be friendly
Greet us when we say hello, especially if it’s your first time in a server. You’re not joining a multiplayer game to be completely solitary, and being friendly when you join lets us know that you’re probably not here to cause trouble.
2. Read the rules and any information given to you
They’re short, they’re sweet, they boil down to “don’t be a dick” with a few world-specific rules thrown in for good measure. We’ll answer questions in-game, but we’ll probably grumble about it if you could have simply found the answers in our Races page, Worlds page, or FAQ.
3. Be a decent human being
Basic golden rule stuff: don’t be a dick to other people. We want to prevent our players from having their experience ruined by people who don’t share our completely alien concepts of honesty, loyalty, generosity, kindness, and laughter.
4. Don’t build in other people’s back yard without permission
This is the most essential bit of etiquette. Give each other room to breathe and expand. Always treat your neighbour like someone who lives near to you.
Liquestria is open to visitors! It’s easy for guests to get around in our game worlds, as they can /fly, use our /warp system, and generally use our /menu GUI to access most of our services. There are usually some Shadowbolts or Alicorns hanging out in-game for you to talk to as well if you have any questions.
Just connect to www.liquestria.net and have a look around.
If you want to play and participate, you need to either:
Be a regular of TeamLiquid and/or of our #tlponies channel on QuakeNet IRC (in which case just PM me on TL or in IRC), - or –
This will give you build permissions for all of our freebuild worlds — currently Everfree, Cirrus, Eyrie, Blueprints, and the Mines. As long as you follow our basic freebuild rules and guidelines, you can do whatever you like.
Note to those of you reading this on TeamLiquid:
If you are a member of TL, you are the reason this server exists -- Liquestria is a Minecraft server made for the TeamLiquid brony community. If you are a TL regular, you will be able to join without much of an application at all. Just PM me on TL and I'll get you set up.
The application is only necessary for those coming in from outside of our community. We find that this process helps us maintain a good atmosphere for the server. The kind of people who aren’t bothered by spending a few minutes on an application tend to be the kind of people who are tired of bullshit and are seriously looking for a nice place to stay.
Not usually. Liquestria is “inspired by” rather than “based on” the show. We don’t want to be confined to do only the kind of stuff you see on the show. That’s why you’ll see ancient temple style constructions, medieval period buildings, a greater emphasis on airships, dragons as willing steeds, and grand towers of sorcery rather than modern railroad tracks or, well, Manehattan. You can consider it an alternate universe if you want; I just consider it a fun little Minecraft server. In short: it’s a non-canonical Lunar equivalent of Celestia’s realm. It’s a loose theme.
If you’d rather emulate the show entirely, http://www.brohoof.com is probably where you want to be.
Can I make pixel art?
Only in Everfree, unless it’s a giant tapestry or banner that makes sense for the area or building.
Can I make [x]?
Read the Worlds pages for any thematic information. If it’s not appropriate on the other worlds, it has to go in Everfree. We don’t much care as long as it’s not a big eye sore, although we will probably draw the line if people start to make sci-fi ships and cities.
Can we set up a world where [x] is acceptable?
If there is enough interest, yes! We won’t do it for just one or two people, however — worlds take up a lot of hard drive space. This leads into:
Would you consider adding [x] to the server?
If there is something you feel is missing from the server, take it up with us in-game. If we like your idea, chances are high that we will try to implement it. Likewise if it’s something a lot of people want. Not much is out of reach for us; we do our own programming and can produce some really fun things if given enough time.
Do you have a creative world?
Not really. We have a Blueprints world, but it’s transient. People use it to test constructions before they build them on the survival maps, and once they’re done, the relevant blueprint builds will likely be wiped to make room for new things. If you’re interested in a creative mode setting, http://www.brohoof.com is probably where you want to be.
Why do you link to the TL forums? Why don’t you have your own?
TeamLiquid is where most of our community first met. It started off as a thread, then an IRC, with all kinds of community events to follow. The Minecraft server came later, the result of Requiem saying “Say, why don’t we have our own Minecraft server?”
We may install SMF at a later date, but there’s no need for it right now. We’d rather have one somewhat active thread than a mostly empty forum. If we attract enough players, this might change.
Can I have your configs so that I can host my own version of this? Is there a tutorial or download for setting up my own MLP server?
Short answer: No.
Long answer: Unfortunately, there is little I can do to help you. There is no download button for “Minecraft server with fully fleshed out classes and abilities”, and there certainly isn’t one for My Little Pony. Instead, this server is a special combination of a thousand different things.
Our server – everything on it – is the result of countless hours of hard work in programming and customization of plugins, careful attention to details, and a genuine interest in fixing problems and making things work. There’s hardly a single plugin we use that I haven’t tweaked or customized in some way to better fit our theme and style, and we’re still adding new things every month. I myself have spent countless hours on this project as a long-standing, multi-year hobby.
For the same reason, I hope you can understand why I’m going to have to give an empathic “no” to the question of giving anyone our configs. Even if I did, you would still need to learn how to set it up properly, and how to configure it. It might be easier to simply start from scratch to ensure that you get the gaming experience you’re after.
Should we submit the server to Equestria Daily?
Not just yet! We need to do a bit more groundwork before it’s presentable to a larger number of players. Once we have it, I’ll personally write to them asking if they can feature it. Until then, let’s hold off.
So what’s with all the Luna?
She’s kind of our server mascot. Look. She made a sky bucket.
BM_xD is my MC name at the moment. I would like to be a unicorn to start.
I have two questions besides that. Aylear, mind putting where we can download the texture packs in your tutorial post? Also, will we able to change our nicknames a la IRC style with /nick or something similar?
Edit: <3 Luna's Sky Bucket. ^_^
Double edit: I'm an idiot. Disregard question one...
Pisonic_Reaver > As far as i have saw, earth ponies will be the best at mining and carrying stuff aswell as farming, which is quite a good part in Minecraft life ! So I believe a load of players will take them, because it makes life load more easier.
By the way, in case I'm missing to the player list : Dreamslayers.

I would highly recommend using the skin maker doohickey that is linked in Aylear's post. You can generate your own ez pz. Alternatively if you're looking for a premade one, the skindex? I dunno if they have MLP skins in the fashion of ponies I know they do in human form though.
