so couple big things have happened for SC5 since last I posted. 2 new characters have been revealed, Algol and Edgemaster. Fans of SC4 will remember him as the boss character that got banned at most tournaments. He will be returning and hopefully like Hilde, will be balanced enough to be playable ^^ + Show Spoiler + ![]() Edgemaster from what I understand hasn't appeared since the original Soul Calibur and seems to be the "Mokujin" character of the game. + Show Spoiler + ![]() Another huge anouncement, EVO has announced that Soul Calibur 5 will have a spot as one of the games for the EVO 2012 event ^^ For those of you unfamiliar with the fighting game scene, EVO is the biggest and most prestigious major event in the west and possibly in the world. Soul Calibur has been out of EVO since 2009 if I'm not mistaken, so coming back with a new installment is just what could boost the scene! Source: http://shoryuken.com/2012/01/03/introducing-the-evo-2012-game-linup-and-tournament-season/ Thirdly, Namco has announced that they would be injecting pot bonuses in 2 upcoming major Soul Calibur 5 events. They will be adding on $1000 to Winter Brawl (Feb 18-19) and $5000 to Final Round (March 2-4). This is sure to get the fighting game community pumped for the release ^^ Source: http://8wayrun.com/threads/namco-gets-serious-pot-bonuses-at-wb6-and-fr15.9472/

Seriously?! Do we need three of the same? They could have made another style. Or heck give back old sophitia style to Elysium.

Look at how awesome Mortal Kombat 9 feels, every hit feels proper and you see wounds and blood not colorful particle effects. Now UFC 3 is coming also soon, i really dont see a place for asian fighting games anymore. They need to evolve. This is 2012, not 1995 anymore.

Do you just judge an entire group of games based on their aesthetic qualities? Besides that, MK9 loses to SSF4, MvC3, Tekken 6, and even Blazblue in gameplay. I would like to hear you elaborate on "no real technique other than combos." What's even more disappointing is how Namco has many fighting styles from the previous games that could have been in their places (Zasalamel, Yun Seong, and Seong Mi Na just to name a few).

So visual effects are now more valuable gameplay mechanics? Are you sure to be posting on the right site? And to be honest, MK9 not only plays like shit, it looks like it too. (lol @ stupid ridiculous messy gorish effects trying to hide how bad a game is)

Soul Calibur, in contrast, is very dynamic (with the exception of Hilde in SC4, who got banned). It's a battle of wits the entire way through. There are also less 50/50 coin flip attacks than SSF4. Throws can be riposte (looking at you Zangief!). You can see attacks coming a mile away, identify the animation and react accordingly. MK9 is similar, but definitely not as deep. And oh yea...no fireball spamming!

Combos in these games take up to 60-80% of health. In that regards, they are not very dynamic, you mess up once and the game is over. That's just poor design. You clearly don't understand how not to be a jackass. I was referring to you saying that Blazblue and MvC3 were all about 'memorizing combos' and if you knew anything about those games (or 2D fighters in general) then you'd know how wrong you are. There are incredibly deep spacing and mind games in both titles. That's like saying Starcraft is 'just about clicking fast'. I actually have nothing against Soul Calibur and am interested in playing Soul Calibur V since it's a series I'm not too familiar with and like the sound of the game (faster than previous games, has super meter and supers, Viola looks like a blast), but I couldn't let comments about those other 2D fighters (and tekken, but you can shit on tekken 'cause i don't like it) slide. YOU'RE the one being a fucking asshole doing EXACTLY what you've accused me of doing.

The only reason someone could make a statement like you did was if yof time. I don't take issue with you or anyone who plays Soul Calibur, or that you even dislike MvC3 and Blazblue. I take issue with you stating complete fabrications as if they were fact.
