Horton, Ryder and Recchi are sorely missed. Seguin and Peverley performed beyond expectations but it just wasn't enough.

Rangers(4) , Devils (3), and Flyers (2) the old Senators winning in like 1923 doesnt count. 3 of the Rangers Cups were 1940 and earlier. the Flyers won in the mid 70s. so i'm cheering for any one except the Devils to win it this year. something similar like this happened in 2003 ... except New Jersey was still in the playoffs and they ended up winning the Cup.

Now we've got nothing but 'defensive' hockey for the second round out west. Dont be bitter because the Canucks lost. The next round will be exciting because none of the Western teams are viewed as offensive powerhouses, which means that they will actually play more open hockey vs each other since there are no real stars to be scared off.

Still not sure who to root for since my Wings got beat ![]() Sens because their coach was an Assistant in Detroit and they are in a 'rebuilding year'. Nashville because if they win you can say but for a few lucky bounces the Wings would have won it all. Florida because the plastic rats are hilarious and because Dave Tallon showed us that nepotism does not pay long term dividends. The Blues because Elliot and Halak were betrayed by their original franchises and now revenge is sweet. Phoenix because Smith is another redemption candidate and Trippet has even less to work with than Trotz. The Capitals because despite having three huge 'stars' who play like total douchebags the rest of the team is blue collar and Holtby seems like a nice kid. The Rangers because Lundquist seems like a nice guy and is a great goalie and its not his fault it took Sather this long to build a sort of legit team for him. The Kings because despite being a place where forwards go to decline gently into the good night Quick has delivered in the playoffs - finally -. And Philly, because Brzygalov is hilarious, because they had the guts to remodel their team for the second time in five years, because they eliminated a petulant child from the playoffs and because Giroux has proven all the racist douchebags who didnt want to give him a chance because he was a French guy, or so the CBC color commentators say anyway. NJD because...well actually I dont know. Brodeaur should have retired along time ago and so should have Lou so getting eliminated by the Panthers will be good for them. Lots of great story lines all around. Only a thin corps of douchebags left to be eliminated and everyone else is pretty blue collar.

Sens needed a starter that could play a tone of games and make big saves behind a rookie defense that, coupled with the aggressive playstyle, was going to make a lot of mistakes. Elliott couldn't handle it, so they got a goalie better suited while they groom Lehner (and now Bishop). Where's the betrayal =P

its just a game guys. ![]() Joel Ward is good all around hockey player and from what i've seen a first class guy. if u wanna be rascist at least find a complete idiot as your target ... not a guy like Joel Ward. Mike Vernon was 1 other... and some illuminati//free mason guy who is in Cornell's secret society called the quill and dagger. what's his name again?

First rookie to knock off the champion in the first round, i think. That goal and the assist for it could not have gone to two more deserving guys. Knuble is a veteran who was scratched in a few games and is roleplaying on the 4th line and Ward, who has been on the 3rd effort/forecheck line the entire season. It is the reason they kept Knuble and acquired Ward this off season. A series of lucky bounces with a few skilled snapshots thrown in. So pumped for another series of hockey in Washington but have to wait a few more hours to found out who that is against. My prediction is going to be the Rangers as i think they they will beat the Senators tonight.

That and Lu won't have to worry about being the playoff goat anymore seeing as TO is never going to make the playoffs ever again anyways. Seems like a good fit.

Ken Dryden did it as well. the good thing about the Leafs getting Luongo is that if the Leafs fail to make the playoffs for the next two years with Luongo in net then Burke will undoubtedly be fired. Lou will probably make TO a 9th/10th place level team, exactly where I want Toronto every year. 9th/10th place teams never go anywhere, rarely over achive and will never fin a cup. Gratz Washington. Glad to see you made it. Get Ovechkin going and you'll be a force.
