I really like the Preds out of the west, and I think the Kings really could do something this post season. However, based on how all these teams play, any one of them could emerge.
oh I almost forgot, the refs in the Sens game were fuckin' tards.
I didn't like the ref's call on the sens in the 1st and 2nd. Seemed like both teams were playing the same (same dirty plays), but only the Sens got called on them.
Regarding the goal, Neil definitely tried to kick it in. However, I think that the fact was that they weren't sure if he actually made contact. It seems like the skate goes over the puck.
There was nothing else in the video that would have caused the puck to accelerate at the moment in time when his skate passed over it. Lundqvist's stick is trying to pull it in the opposite direction and Michalek's wasn't close. I'm interested in hearing what the actual rule for 'inconclusive' is because it seems to me that if there's no other case for how the puck got across the line, that's pretty conclusive (i.e. it wasn't sliding in and it wasn't pushed in by a stick; therefore, I can conclude that it was kicked in).

I would have to say probably he kicked it in, but again, I'm not sure. If I had to guess, I would say he kicked. But I guess it wasn't conclusive.
Can't really blame Luongo for anything this year, but he does need to go. The team clearly just doesn't have the confidence in him that they have in Schneider, and you can see that when they play.
Sidney Crosby has said no to Canada for the world championships.
Its not like I had a whole lot of respect for guy anyways but if you fine to play in the playoffs vs Philly then your fine to play in the even tighter controled games of the IIHF. Minus respect points to 87
Speaking of IIHF I want them to teach NHL refs about consistancy. Every tournament they call the same stuff all the time and rules enforcement is excelent. Never hear about a blown call in a IIHF game.
I have zero problems with Sidney not competing. He doesn't feel like he's back up to speed and rather work on his conditioning, which is fine. There is nothing wrong with turning down the invitation when you don't think you are at the right level or where you need to be.

Very true. Whether in the playoffs or the last 2 months of the regular season watching the Luongo vs Scneider thing was pretty enraging. Considering how little offensive support Canucks provide Luo, starting from the last playoffs, I am surprised he didnt request a trade to somewhere else.

IIHF teaching the NHL refs? Please man. rofl
Agreed. Why run the risk of another concussion against some no name players.

Seriously? The world championships mean pretty much 0. People don't go for no reason, Sid's got a pretty good one. Criticising for this seems like you're just looking for reasons to hate him.
I hate Crosby, but I support his decision. I'd rather have him playing next year and hating him rather than just hating the fact I can't hate on him anymore.

...He plays in the playoffs because it's the playoffs. Why would he play in something which isn't really a big deal when he's at risk of being seriously hurt? Tons of players don't play in the world championships just because they don't want to, why don't you go complain about them?

Your implying the NHL is doing a good job reffing? LOL No. Calling the officals bad this year would be complimentary.

Seeding for the olympics are on the line at this WHC so it means alot more then normal. I'd like Canada to avoid the USA/Sweden/Russia group if possible please. Having top seed should insure that.

they have less confidence in him because he is not as good as he used to be.
they provide better "offensive support" when Schneider is in net because they are more willing to take chances when he is in net because they know Schneider is better able to bail them out of the mistakes that happen when trying to create offense.
Schneider > Luongo
the entire Canucks organization can see this. I'd laugh so hard if he ended up on the Leafs.

I still dont understand how Vancouver manages to make every single fanbase outside of BC hate them. But hey.
Nobody hates the worst teams. Only hate the best teams. Vancouver has been the best reg season team 2 years in a row.
The Canuck's problem is the same as the Crosby problem, the media gets on their dick hard and doesnt let up and everyone else finds that degree of slavish dick sucking just too much to bear. And also, as far as I remember no other GM in the league goes on national television and cries that the refs are unfair to his team.
no the Rangers get their goalie and coach to do that. The Vancouver hatred thing has been going on for liek 40 years.
in 1972 the rest of Canada got pissed at Vancouver for boo-ing their players off the ice and saying "communism is better than capitalism".
in the right wing parts of Ontario... BC is labelled "The People's Republic of British Columbia" because its the highest taxed jurisdiction in North America... the whole free needle injection site thing.... all the grow ups in northern bc ...etc. the 2 riots didn't help.
The hatred runs deep, its been around a long time and its just as much political as anything hockey related.
people are just looking for an excuse to hate vancouver in particular and BC in general... and the cheap shot diving whiners on the Canucks catalyze that process nicely.
He has less confidence because back in Florida he used to have on average 34 shots on him a night. The more pucks he sees; the better he gets and age is a factor.
Luongo won't end up on the Leafs.
Henrik has one outburst, so sure. Let's jump all over him.
Excuses are for the weak. The same way looking for calls is too. You cannot control things outside of your control, so you better man up and do your best always. I'll leave it at that.
If Nick Lidstrom retires, EA Sports should scrap this whole, stupid, fan-vote for the NHL cover athlete and just put Lidstrom on the box. It'd be a classy move towards the best defenseman in the league over the last (almost) two decades.
Plus it'd preempt the inevitable renaming of the Norris trophy in his honor ;-)
On April 25 2012 23:49 StarStruck wrote: He was already on the cover though and it's EA Sports.
No reason for it especially if he retires.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_(video_game_series)#Game_covers According to this, he has not been on a cover of NHL by EA sports, even as a an alternate for a specific region. I still don't think EA would just put him on the cover anyways, as the fan voting is a way of generating interest in the sport and the game.
