Go to Green Man Gaming. Skyrim is 33% less. Then you add the voucher code (GMG30-DPLIM-DN831) that gives another 30% less on the price. You end paying 23.45€ instead of Steam's 24.82€. It's not much but it's something.
After buying it you'll have to redeem the game code on Steam.

One of the greatest things about Morrowind was that, if you wanted to, you could sell the Package to Caius Cosades to Ariel in Seda Neen and NEVER do the main quest ever again.
Another thing? Everyone was mortal. Um. Personally, I like that feature, it lets me not forget things. I like to think of the Dragonborn as an unemployed person(which he is) who records everything he hears immediately in a small notebook to look at sometime.
Unemployed? nonsense! After that run-in with the imperials at Helgen, the Dragonborn decided to settle down in Riverwood and cut wood for a living. It's hard work, but someone has to do it.

Does anyone have suggestions for a hardcore rule set/mod set that works sort of naturally? I tried playing with an environmental mod and if I die I lose all my equipment, but as it turns out being naked after a death when rain kills you without clothes is kind of stupid. Maybe I could get a good set up of basic items I'm allowed to keep, like some drawers, 50 gold and a club, so that I can actually rebuild after a death.
Also, are there any mods that make dragons extremely rare spawns? I'm thinking one every 5-10 hours of play. They're wayyyy too common in vanilla.

It initiates all quests immediately. What if I am roleplaying? Playing an assassin...I don't want any mention of Fighter's Guild quests.
Yet the slightest mention of the Companions and it's in the log. I'm a companion? Hear the rumour of the Arentino boy and it's logged.
You should be able to hear a rumor and not have it logged as a quest start. It ties right back to the issue a lot of people had where one character was doing everything.

Have you tried Skyrim Redone? It makes combat and everything else insane. If you're a big role player you probably have but it does add a lot.
I really wouldn't suggest a realistic needs mod because the one that is compatible with 1.8 is very poorly constructed...

Like the guy above me, I recommend Skyrim Redone. Also, if you set timescale to 6, game days last 4 hours instead of the base 1 hr 12 min. Dragon spawns are based on timescale, so that should resolve your issue.

Im having trouble installing Skyrim Redone(skyre). Can anyone help walk me through it ? I've searched videos and forums but no luck.
The description has two steps so I thought it would be simple and easy but I guess i'm just not doing it right. I tried extracting to steamapps/skyrim/data and doing it with copy/paste but still no luck.
If someone can dumb it down for me i'd appreciate it thanks.
Edit: I think I might not be deleting the correct stuff?

Did you use the right load order? Download BOSS and it'll order your mods correctly according to their masterlist if you run it while you have the skyrim launcher (but not the data files window) or nexus mod manager open. SkyRe conflicts with a lot of mods; that might be the issue too. If manual installation doesn't work, just get the nexus mod manager; it simplifies things quite a bit. The SkyRe patch will need to be installed manually after installing SkyRe through NMM.

Do you have script extender? That is the most common issue I'd guess.

I'll try this out to see if it works.

If you don't use fast travel, they're much rarer, and you get to enjoy the incredible scenery too. It's been over a year since it was released and few things still take my breath away like a Skyrim night.
I don't get out enough

Is there any point to doing the Dawnguard quests after i killed harkon? I am a dawnguard, not a vampire
|
Well most of them are just radiant quests, but make sure you do all the crossbow quests if you use ranged weapons. Other than that it can be interesting that they will kidnap your spouse in one quest. Look them up here http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Quests_(Dawnguard)

Still no news of dragonborn? ._.

Early 2013 is the projected release date, as it has been for a while. No specifics have been made public yet.

Just started playing skyrim again (Only played it once before, and completed it as quickly as I could as I had lots of work to do), and decided this time I would take it slow. Spend some time leveling up skills to become as strong as I could, etc etc. But while doing this, I learnt something that really surprised me and put me off the game. The whole monsters leveling up along with you thing basically means that the more skills you level up, the weaker you become.
For example. One of the easiest ways to play through the game as a mage would be to only use and level destruction skills. But when you spend time leveling up other things such as speech, sneak, lockpicking, etc etc, the fact that these things level you up, making all the enemies level up too, tends to make you weaker overall.
Does this bother anyone else? I really do enjoy the style of Skyrim, but I would much prefer a game where I have to prepare for certain quests, not a game where preparation for certain quests actually make the enemy stronger.
|
Yes that is a common criticism of Skyrim. You can either learn how to level and spend skill points properly or download a mod to fix it so enemies do not level up if you level up non combat skills. I picked the former which is essentially don't spend any skill points in non combat skills with the exception of crafting skills which do help you in combat and don't try to level up speech/lockpicking too or any other skills you do not plan on using too early. Eventually you will want to level up speech and lockpicking no matter what type of character you are, but at the same time it won't be that important then because you are starting to get lots of money and can pick master locks with tons of lock picks.
If you want to try the mod option. You can ask others here, other TLers here often suggest Skyrim combat/leveling mods or search for yourself on the Nexus http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/
