Ok, just marked 11/11/11 in my schedule.

Sure buy, TES was awesome, I remember I used to walk in the wild just to comtemplate the beautiful places, like stood in the top of a mountain looking at far away chilling for minutes lol

Enchant was an extremely good skill in Morrowind. :/

Why would you level your enchant skill when you can just get a npc to enchant for you, without the chance of failure, unless you make +50000 luck potions so you can't fail. Enchant was a worthless skill, with very little applicable uses.

The higher your enchant skill goes, the less charges you use and the faster they regenerate. Due to the way the formula works, at around skill level 120 or so, aside from replenishing very quickly, every single enchanted item will use no more than one charge per cast... even that daedric tower shield you put some crazy spell in.

Because enchanted items cast much faster than regular spells and each one has essentially its own mana pool, replacing your spells with enchanted items is optimal. A high enchant skill makes that possible.

That wasn't any act of God. That was an act of pure human fuckery.

"Skyrim is the northernmost province of Tamriel, and is a cold and mountainous region. Although it is one of Tamriel's less hospitable provinces, it has been home to both elven and human civilization since time immemorial. It is currently inhabited by the human race of Nords. The Aldmer and Falmer occupied Skyrim until the late Merethic, when the final wave of Nordic immigration, led by Ysgramor, finally drove out the mer." - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Skyrim

Really, really hope that it doesn't mean that there will be few races and highly inhabited cities

I actually liked fallout more. Maybe it was because I could make more meaningful choices, or the combat was better, but I definitely had a better time. Plus I'm not too huge of a fan of the leveling system in oblivion. Combined with the level scaling, it promotes power leveling way too much for my liking.

There was a lot of problems with oblivion. But the questlines were really good in my opinion. Dark Brotherhood, Mage's guild, Thieves' Guild, Fighter's guild. Most of the daedric quests were interesting too. The main quest was pretty good too except grinding all those oblivion gates.
Favourite enemies Umbra and Mannimarco, Darkwood company was cool too. Notable quests such as the vampire in imperial city which you track down to a cabin. The aydelid statuette questline, and probably some more I can't remember right now.
Oblivion wasn't all bad, storytelling being one of them. Combat was a little stale if you didn't go out of your way to make it interesting, such as incorporating skills and items that you really doesn't need to win.

I hope they improve everything from Oblivion but most of all I hope they encourage players to use more skills and potions and spells so as to make combat more interesting. It wouldn't hurt with better AI either and improving the voice acting from the previous games.

AND OMG IMPLEMENT CO-OP MODE I'D FUCKING LOVE THAT.

Wow, dragons! How unique and original, I can't wait not to experience their terrible terrible combat system and endless copy pasted open worlds and npcs with as much personality as a hat rack. I'm not just hating on oblivion, I've thought these games were awful since dagger fall, I grew up on ultima underworld and betrayal at krondor, roleplaying games that were infinitely better.

Absolutely disagree, I loved the Oblivion lock picking, too many games have it too easy. I got to the point with the Oblivion system where I could almost do it with my eyes closed and it felt like a real acomplishment after how hard I found it at first. (I'm not mistaking a higher lockpick skill, I'm talking about on new characters n shiznit)

It's so crazy hearing people talk trash about Oblivion when it's easily in my top 10 games ever. I loved that game with all of my heart.

I'm really psyched about this game, only problem I potentially have is the choice to go with Skyrim instead of something a little more exotic and exciting.

wowowow this will be awesome. I played Argonians or Nords in most playthroughts and I liked Blood Moon so Skyrim is awesome. I agree with what most people said here that they want it to be more like Morrowind and less like Oblivion. Oblivion had more different quest though and god dammit in Morrowind you moved like a snail without boots of blinding speed =). But Morrowind skillsystem was better and please Bethesda give me my spears and crossbows back.

Can't you use potions to boost things to make insane enchantments? I'm not sure I didn't do too much enchanting in morrowind.

You can make insane potions, but not enchants, because you are still capped with the maximum enchant a weapon can hold. As far as I know enchant skill doesn't lower the enchant value of a stat so you can fit more in, and neither does int or luck. Also I'll edit in about some of the improvements that oblivion made.

Stealth was improved to incorporate lighting and such.
Physics made for some fun traps, and a lot of other stuff.
Bows were better with physics and poisons were a huge boost to marksmen characters and alchemists. Crossbows weren't really missed.
I didn't mind losing spears since there weren't enough of them anyway in Morrowind, so if you picked spear you were fucked. Blunt makes more sense than splitting up axes and maces or however it was. Medium armor is superfluous, I think.

I agree with all of this.

Unarmored was kind of lame - the oblivion system of Shield spells and spell effectiveness made more sense I think. The idea of a character who gets less armor when he puts on a suit of armor makes no sense. Or if it does, the Oblivion way of that happening is a better way I think.

Unarmored had to do with casters using robes instead of armor. We all know wizards wear robes, and not a skin tight leather outfit. And why the hell can't I wear under clothes in oblivion?

I agree with this.

Also, levitation would ruin combat because any character without a ranged attack couldn't hit you. And what does it add to the game? A little bit of fucking around?

Levitation is used more often for climbing terrain instead of running to the ceiling and raining down death (but don't you find that to be the most intelligent thing to do for a master wizard?). They can just make levitation cost a lot or require a lot of skill to use.

Combat was way better when you couldn't hit something with a sword thirty times and do zero damage due to invisible dice rolls.

The other side to this is, I used a weapon with only 1 skill and no endurance (I can't even lift my arms I'm so tired), yet I can still hit someone? They really need to fix endurance, it played almost no part in oblivion, you could ignore it and play the game like it didn't exist.

Staves were kinda lame. I stayed away from them usually since recharging is expensive and you can often just use spells. They need to be changed somehow.

I enjoyed morrowind auto recharge over time, like an internal magical battery, rather than having to find someone to recharge your item or get soul gems and have soul trap every fucking time.

Vivec was cool but a beyotch to navigate. No towns in Oblivion were that frustrating but they needed more differentiation. With all of Skyrim covered in snow, that could be a problem again. Hopefully, they make the towns look very different from the outside, and then they could feel different on the inside. The Oblivion cities are actually pretty differentiated, but it is subtle so it took me much play time before I began to appreciate it. Morrowind is pretty in your face about it, with tree towns, and crabshell mansions, and fortress towns, and Vivec.

ALL morrowind towns are incredibly confusing.

Regenerating magika was welcome for me. Fast travel is essential - I had to use coc codes all the time in Morrowind. Casting was better than in Morrowind although I think you are right on that they should add "haste" or maybe make willpower control cast speed or something like that.

I found that in oblivion I would just skip everything I could, and run in a straight line to my next quest target after fast traveling to the nearest place I've visited. I pretty much ignore the majority of the map (and the game). Willpower is also pretty useless (mana regen WOW).

One/two handed spell casting? Meh.

I'm going to cast my uber spell that does 1000 damage in a 100 yard radius, and I don't even need to put away my sword, aren't I a badass. This isn't about making combat easier or more interesting, but more interactive. Run up, cut them to death. Run backwards, fire arrows/spells. That's combat in TES, and it's boring as hell. I hope they try and make combat better somehow, because exploring and storyline are only so entertaining to a point.

There are some epic stories in Oblivion, like the thieves guild questline. The quest design got a lot better in Oblivion compared to Morrowind, with a quest based on The Most Dangerous Game, some great daedric quests, the painting quest and the dream quest. A lot of surprising and memorable ones.

I enjoyed sneaking into the capital and stealing an elder scroll to break the curse on the gray foxes mask. It was intense! I also enjoyed doing quests for the different god people, but I also enjoyed shrine raiding in morrowind.

Skyrim seems to make the most sense. I like the Khajiit so I would have rather played in Elsweyr, or Black Marsh, or Valenwood, or Summerset Isle... but Skyrim is better than rehashing Hammerfell or High Rock or gosh forbid Cyrodil. I've started reading up on Skyrim lore and it's actually pretty interesting. You can anticipate the Falmer (snow elves) filling a role similar to the dwemer in morrowind and the aylieds in Oblivion. Also, there are Greybeards which could do something similar to Moth Priests.

Why the fuck couldn't I wear boots as a Khajiit in morrowind? Less armor because I want to be a furry, what's this shit?
And why is it I can shoot someone in the back, kill them, and the person right beside him doesn't even respond? Sure, he doesn't know where I am (though he can guess from the direction of the arrow), but he doesn't even notice? Come on. I want him to run and cower in a corner, or run around searching for me, instead of standing around while I pick off a group of bandits one by one and the dead bodies flopping down beside them isn't even noticed.

Hopefully they add a faction type thing, there are 10 races I believe, why can't I make a racist character?

Skyrim hopefully is epic. And huge. [/QUOTE]
Well I think that in Oblivion casters can still go for no armor due to the magic effectiveness. I dunno, either way is fine. If the Oblivion way is done again, perhaps the formula should be tweaked so casters don't use light armor so much. Also I think magic effectiveness is a bit borked because how differently it worked depending on the spell/situation.

I suppose 100% chameleon is more broken than levitation. PC modders found it pretty easy to merge the city with the countryside map so maybe they'll be able to do that in Skyrim and we'll get levitation back. But I won't hold my breath since Megaton was behind a load door (I dunno how New Vegas works, too poor to get it and too busy playing through TES games ).

I got pretty good at the Oblivion game. It could be pretty rage worthy though. The Fallout 3 lockpicking is fine, too, but it seems easier.

Fatigue did seem to be useless in Oblivion. At the same time, I disliked how in Morrowind I would constantly run everywhere (no mounts) and so I would usually have no fatigue and therefore no way to fight. So I am glad that Oblivion made it so running did not drain fatigue. But perhaps fatigue should not recharge when running unless you have high athletics. Maybe there could be a combat sprint that drains fatigue or something.

I know they purposefully kept mounted combat out because they thought it did not fit the game. But if you keep horses out of caves and dungeons and such, maybe it can still work for a few things. In any case, Mount and Blade is freaking fantastic. I doubt the TES engine could handle enough actors on screen at once to get close to it though. And it wouldn't be TES if you were fighting as part of a huge army, rather than as a lone hero, though I hope there are a lot of cool partners like in FO3 / Oblivion (also I think partners were improved over Morrowind although there is a lot to improve there - let me give them better equipment without just reverse-pickpocketing zero-weight stuff on to my partner! And why can't I reverse pickpocket anything weighing more than zero?).

Yeah I guess two handed spells could be interesting - like maybe you need two hands until you get a certain proficiency in that school? Could be another reason to play a mage class instead of some combat class that can do a bunch of spells almost as easily.

The f5 thing is a little weird. It might be cool to have a permanent death hardcore mode, kind of like roguelikes or how some people play Far Cry 2.

Adding boots to beast races was maybe the most important change. I like to play thievish Khajiits but I always go Wood Elf in Morrowind just so I can wear boots.

Really, really hope that it doesn't mean that there will be few races and highly inhabited cities

I'm sure there will be all the races. High Rock to the west has Orcs and Bretons. To the southwest is the Redguard place. Of course, the Imperials are to the south. And Morrowind is to the east. Two of the towns in the east of Skyrim are heavily Dunmer influenced.

They've actually had a game set in Skyrim before (besides Arena, which had all provinces). It was Dawnstar, a simple cellphone game I once owned. I'm pretty sure that one had several races represented so I'm sure TES V will.
