It says on guides that I am supposed talk to Vekel the man to find Esbern, but I don't have any option regarding that. All I get is buying, doing a mission (finding some books) and him telling me about the guild. Also I don't have any quest about finding Esbern, nor do I get one from Delphine. Anyone know what I can do to progress? + Show Spoiler +Just got past this part. Yes, it is weird. He wants you to do this stealing shit and my good paladin didn't want anything to do with it but I eventually broke down and tried it because I wanted to progress the story. At least attempt to steal the item from the chest. If you fail, just pay the small bounty and go back to talk to the man. He'll say he still thinks you got what it takes and wants you to find him at Something Flagon. The quest arrow points you there. At the Something Flagon is a shopkeep who tells you where Esbern is. You can ignore the dude who got you down there from here on out because his quests are not main story arc. I've gotten that far, the problem is that the bartender won't tell me anything. I have no options to talk to him about it. Tell me, did you have a quest or anything that prompted you to talk to the bartender in the first place? + Show Spoiler +The questline involves talking to the bartender to learn about Esbern. The correct response is to bribe him with gold (150 I think) and he'll start talking. Yeah I think I figured out the problem. I don't have the quest. I need to find some way to get Delpine to give me the quest, because I have nothing after "Diplomatic Immunity". It's just ended.. :<

How to get Whiterun house FREE + Show Spoiler +You have to have 5k gold. Talk to Proventus Avenicci near a Wardrobe/Chest or whatever where you can drop your gold. Talk to him for buy the house, and when you accept "i'll take it" push tab key or your cancel key fastly, and drop your money on Wardrobe/Chest. If you do it right, he will give you the key, and your money will be safe on that chest

Grr, I'm so completely pissed off with this game right now... 99% of it is brilliant, but this one stupid buggy quest line in Markarth is making everything a nightmare. I know I am not the only one in this situation as i've googled it and found people complaining on other forums but basically...
Because I have finished the questline involving the prison in Markarth, I am unable to pay off any bounty I earn in that reach. This problem has just escalated as I keep needing to do quests in Markarth and thus have to slash my way through 10-20 guards every time I go back. Conclusion? 11,000 bounty in Markarth. Solution? Here's where I am hoping somebody can help/shed some light...
Previously on exiting Markarth whilst being attacked by 3 Thalmor + numerous Guards + a Blood Dragon (yes, lol) I had an NPC of some kind approach me on the road - named either "Bounty Collector/Bounty Hunter". I had absolutely no clue what it was about and through googling I have discovered it seems to be some failsafe the dev's implemented for people in my situation, basically you pay this NPC and extortinate sum of gold and they clear your bounty. However, if they approach you and you have your weapon drawn, they will automatically attack and hit REALLY hard. So much so that it practically 2 shot me at the time, and since re-loading the save I cannot for the life of me get this guy to show up again.
TL;DR Question. Does anybody know how to make the "Bounty Collector" appear? And/or, does anybody know what the bounty limit is you need to achieve before they will try to find you?
I'm on the verge of quitting playing this game now, as it's completely ruining the experience/immersion of the quests when it won't fucking let me just pay it off. Grrrrr. Thanks

Yeah floating 20k gold with nothing to spend it on, my best loot is all from dungeons anyway.

It looks like they get more expensive as you move along the main questline. + Show Spoiler +So far I have one in Whiterun which cost 5k and one in Winterhelm that cost me 10k.
You can also power level things like enchanting/blacksmithing/alchemy by buying up all of the vendor's reagents and crafting stuff.
Or just save for the 100,000 gold achievement lol.

I just got a 25k one that took an extra 10k+ to furnish but it looks so nice. That's the most expensive one though.
|
Not interested in more than 1 house, and yeah ive been grinding black smithing. My character doesn't know alchemy/enchanting though.

im not sure how to do do enchanting, i really want to get good at it, but im having no luck in figuring out where to get "enchantments"

Just bought and decorated my house without wasting 1 gold

so I just found out that if you go to one of the dragon head marks on the map (where a dragon word will be) and kill the dragon that WILL also be there, but DONT GET THE DRAGON WORD....
a dragon will respawn. in about two days of game time (not "played" time), between having multiple blood dragons that respawned as frost dragons and then either blood dragons again or frost dragons. yay dragon bones and scales!
edit:
even if you DO get the dragon word, dragons will reliably respawn at the stones every two-three days.

So infinite dragon souls. Sweet. Scratch that, seems you don't get another dragon soul (At least I didn't just now, trying this)

Have you tried the console command for setting bounty? I've never used it myself but maybe you can solve the bug with that command

So any good guy that is level 35+ with dual wielding that could PM me his gamesave ? :/
|
I'm forever hated in Solitude, no bounty but the guards attack me on sight every time; because I accidently 'interrupted' an execution or something.
And I can't yield to the guards either

does this game have any replay value to it?
to me it seems like a "epic" quest with no value after beating it.
no multi-player or even coop ruins games, though my friends all told me to buy it.

Skyrim has literally been taking up all my time that I'm not working. I must admit that I have it for Xbox, because my PC wouldn't be able to handle the game, but I'm having so much fun.
I wish I had known TL had a Skyrim thread before this XD

Has anyone tested if... + Show Spoiler +After you defend Whiterun (Empire side!), the Jarl tells you that he'd love it if you would be a citizen in his city and that you should talk to his steward about it. When I got to that point I already had my house and therefore no new dialogue options with the steward. However, I think that sounds as if you'd get it for free after that quest.

i have the same problem. markath sucks. but you approached it wrong, you just had to run. and dont tell me you cant, you can i did it multiple times. now im lvl45 and tbh guards dont pose a threat anymore so fuck margath.
and if you wait some days before going back the guards will have forgotten all about it until you either commit another crime in plain view or are stupid enough to stay close/talk to one.
