All races are pretty much similar now IMO. Only the skills they begin with and the racial power differs. The High Elf skill is neat when you are blasting costly spells in a major battle. besides that, its like everyone else. I think this is due to the fact that everyone begins with the same HP/Mana/Stamina ratio compared to oblivion.

Near the end of DB quest chain when you go to kill Cicero you get Shadowmere, who can solo bears and shit. I'm going to take Shadowmere up against some giants when I get home in a few hours to see how strong he is

Characters in heavy armor without the perk to remove the speed reduction may enjoy it. However, in most cases, you can just fast travel to a nearby location you have and trek the rest and discover neat new places along the way!

Use the sprint button you won't run out of stamina, also horses have worse physics associated with them they regularly defy gravity and let you climb mountains you couldn't on foot .

Get the damage perks from Sneak tree and a bunch of Bow modifiers (I'm running around with +20% Bows helm and glovs, plus 3 levels in the damage perk plus sneak perks). You can 1 hit damn near everything not Giant/Special. I've even killed a few bosses in just 2 or 3 hits. So imba.

Keep in mind that there is a small bit of level scaling so that the enemies can span between level 5-10 for example based on your level. If you are low level they are 5 if you are high level they are 10. Ignoring combat perks like the added damage will mean you die really fast if you focus on getting sneak perks first without damage ups.

I grew up a huge RPG fan playing games like Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy and Faxanadu as a kid growing up. I also love games like Chrono Trigger, all 3 BoF games, etc. etc. That being said I gave Dragon Age II a whirl and enjoyed it, but wasn't that into it. Would one recommend Skyrim to someone w/ my tastes or do you think i should pass? Edit: Also PC or PS3? although i'm pretty sure i already know the answer to that.

Getting into trouble can happen, but it's usually a pretty simple matter to hide or stall long enough with healing spells to get somewhere out of reach (tables confuse enemies with melee weapons).
