Coupled with the fact that Skyrim likes to quit out to desktop at random save points, I don't think I have ever raged more in a game than this one. Not even Starcraft 2. And yes I've tried all the troubleshooting with the crashes.
Enchanting should be your best god damn friend at all times. Enchanting is so good at higher levels, it's hilarious.

Theres a mask you can obtain from a lich in one of the locations with power words (forgot which one) that reduces the damage received from elemental attacks and it stacks well with the shield perk.
That is what I use myself and whenever I get close to the mage, its dead.
Note that you can also use wards to reduce magical damage and stuns to allow you to get closer (your first shout stumbles the opponents).

Ive bought and downloaded Skyrim directly via Steam. First time, it took me about 5 1/2 hours, I installed it, it was working. Then I realized I installed it on my new SSD which was already pretty packed, so I decided so erase everything, delete the whole steam folder, download steam again. Then, I had to download Skyrim again (or Im not not even sure if it wasnt just a new patch), which took about 7 damn hours (I have relocated somewhere else where I have slightly slower internet).
When, finally, I had downloaded it a second time, I got to the main menu in the game, then it jumped back to steam. I tried this a few times and it always jumped back to steam. AND NOW, it wants to download this whole shit again. I dont know what Ive done wrong or what exactly the problem is. Does anyone have an idea? The steam support seems totally retarded, nothing where I could mail to personally and from the specific areas of support, none of them seems to fit my problem.
Please guys, your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Have you tried changing your windows sound? Go to control panel>sound>right click on the speaker icon> advanced> change sound to 24/16 bit -44100 Hz.
i havent, but thats not the problem (at least not anymore)
although I downloaded the whole thing once again, its like it all has disappeared all of a sudden and it has to download again. Has anyone got any idea why that is? I can try the sound thing in about 6 hours (when the download'S finished)

So, where are some good Warrior chains, other than The Companions? Is there a lot of good shit to do at Makrath and whatnot? I'm going to be doing Stormcloak shit of course as well after I finish up The Companions, but I was wondering if like every city had "main quest" for them or something I could go around and do.

yeah, I know, I also remember your post. But: I have no disc: I have directly bought it and downloaded it from steam, probably the biggest mistake in my relatively young life so far.

How the hell can I sneak up closer to enemies? I'm at Fort Atmol where everyone is a fucking OP mage and I'm a sneak Archer and One-H.
I can't get close enough to assassinate them, they seem to know I'm there even with their back turned.

has anyone tried out duel wards? It is super awesome, I made lydia to carry some nice wards and rare ones and I myself got 2 relatively ok wards and we just spam magic whole day

I know this isn't really an easy question to answer, but can someone tell me how I can get the best performance/quality balance with the following build while playing Skyrim, and what range of AA/FXAA/Anistrophic Filtering I should look for, and through the ATI Catalyst Control Center settings by forcing it there, or through the manual game settings, while playing Skyrim?
This is my rig:
Intel i3-2100 3.1GhZ Dual Core (with Hyperthreading) AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB DDR5 4GB DDR3 RAM
I've been tweaking with the settings for two days, I've tried about almost anything but I don't really know the optimal settings. I've been googling it up, with advanced search, checking the official forums, trying to look at here, looking at the tomshardware articles, but I still don't know what the best setup would be for at least 40-60 FPS while playing together with great visuals. I'm already playing on Ultra High settings, when I launched the game everything was full and that caused strain in certain areas, so I reduced both Anistrophic Filtering and AA to 4x. That gave me great FPS, but I wasn't still sure what my system could handle. So I tried forcing full settings through CCC. That led to 10 FPS, so I changed it all back, to use application settings, along with disabled AA from Skyrim menu, 4x AF, FXAA enabled, and Morphological Filtering, Edge Detect AA mode, and Super Sampling for the AA quality. I'm getting allright FPS right now, but I just don't know if this is the optimal one aswell. I'd really, really love some help on this.

if you have the muffle skill cast it, or wear no armour. I had a hard time killing one boss in particular and I decided to take off my armour. I was able to sneak up and get half his health with a backstab.

I'm wearing heavy armor? That actually affects them hearing me or not?
