I'll admit I might be jumping to conclusions a little bit here, but there's a huge, HUGE chance that is going to 1) screw with the mechanics of the single player campaign in a negative way, by transforming it more into a shooter and less of an RPG 2) take away a ton of time from the single player campaign, which, as the capstone of trilogy of two prior SINGLE PLAYER ONLY GAMES should be the most important part of the game.

I dunno, I'm not as freaked out about games having multiplayer anymore. AC: Brotherhood was perfectly good and the multiplayer wasn't half bad. I think the days where you can only have one or the other are slowly fading away.

Well, it doesn't have to be bad. I LOVED the combat system in ME2, it would work well for some types of multiplayer, probably not adversarial MP though.

If it's PvE there shouldn't be a problem with balance and coop might be fun. Start off as a weak hero then level up between levels. It doesn't have to detract from the main game at all, though it can.

I don't see how they would balance PvP without a complete rework of the powers. If you have no shields or armor you can be instantly stunned by any number of abilities repeatedly and killed meaning it will be all about armor/shield/barrier removal + one stun ability.

but I think they will do it like a COOP mode. So no Player vs Player. And even if they did that I'd give it a try. I mean ME has so many funny abilities I am sure it would be nice.

1. The title of the article has "Romour" in big bold letters.
2. No where does it say anything about pvp, this could be co-op.
3. No matter what the multiplayer balance will be like, that doesn't automatically mean the single player is going to suffer.

games like bioshock(95+ metascore) and fallout (95+ metascore) have an "online multiplayer" but its largely unused, and didn't harm the game at all.

ME is a single player game first. Multiplayer game second. I can guarantee they wont mess with the way single player is just to accommodate Mulitplayer, if anything they will modify MP to fit fighting. how will this take away form the single player campaign? People will beat the game first 4/5 times then play muliplayer as i stated above ME is a Single player game first then MP. I think yo for the post but really your whole argument was just blah.

Not too worried. I mean the shift from ME1 to ME2 was so good and needed, not even funny. I honestly just played ME1 just to grind through to get better storyline outcomes in ME2. I'm sure they'll do a good job with it. I don't know how they can screw up after the improvements they made. Then again.. FO:NV sucked total balls, so maybe not.

Three player coop would be awesome, having two human allies instead of AI ones. PvP would be worse than Versus in RE5.

Not surprised at the news but still slightly worried. As long as they can seperate SP and MP well, it should be a good thing i guess. I just pray ME3 isn't going to turn into a TPS ala Gears of War.

oh god, I am having waking terrors imagining bioware going

'Hey guys, guess what?! We have added a brand new 4 on 4 multiplayer feature for exciting games online with all your friends!!! So you can play a game just like Black Ops!!!! And don't worry, we haven't put too much time into the singleplayer mode!! We all know you want us to provide a nice, quick and easy singleplayer so we can put all of our resources into making a handful of fairly well balanced and medium sized maps!!!! And what's EVEN better, we took out all the things in the previous games that required though!!!! And replaced them with KILL STREAKS!!!! B-bam!!!!
