I propose rebuilding the connection between Liquidia and A Fruit Stand (we can save 1 gold), remove the road that is being built between Paris and Orleans (which would cost us 8 gold once completed) and just connect AFS with Orleans. Since our treasury is running good at the moment, i guess building it the most cost efficient way can wait, I will in my turns just try to get Orleans connected. Since we are already at the happiness limit, i juggle around some citizens, and after checking if there are any possible deals to be made (which there aren't), i press Next Turn.
In all honesty, you don't need road between Liquidia and Fruit Stand at all. Just wait for the tech (or do you have it already?) and construct harbors in capital and the other city. TADA! Trade route estabilished, no roads built. And if it's sea and not lake next to Orleans, it'll work for it too.

I'd totally be up for this, but I don't have the deluxe edition.....
Is there one starting up for the few of us who didn't get it?

yes, that's true. but you have to keep in mind that a harbor costs some gold per turn as well, and you lose the movement bonus.

there is a tool which can strip off the babylon parts from a save (obviously only if the babylons aren't participating in the game), see here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=388937
so, it basically shouldn't be a problem to play in this.
here, i "converted" the last save with the tool, but since i can obviously not check whether it now works in a non-deluxe civ5, you could try that out

I'll check to see if it works or not.
EDIT - It worked!
Let me know when I get to take over.

fantastic
i suggest you pm Nokarot and ask him to put you into the roster

I'd love to participate in this! I'm pretty new to Civilization in general (I always ignored it for some reason), so if anyone else wants to go before me go ahead - I definitely need to learn the game a bit more first.
P.S: I have Deluxe.

Still haven't had the chance to read up on this tool- been a little busy. However, on word from Impervious that it works, I'll add both him and Soulfire to the list behind Biochemist.
Once I have time to read up on this tool and we can 100% confirm that, not only can non-deluxers use it, but that they can then give the save back to a deluxe player, (which may have already been confirmed, but as I said, havent had time to read up on it) I might start PMing people on the unconfirmed list and try to educate them on how to use the tool in regards to succession games and see if we can get more players on the list.
I have skimmed through so much in regards to this thread lately that I feel like I'm stupid in both regards to managing a succession game and organizing people and everything, but I hope to be able to fix that soon. Until then, though, it seems like you guys have it under control. Brownbear confirmed that he'll be playing his turn, so lets just go down the list for now and we'll how that, when it reaches Imprevious, the tool does its magic.

we could check if the non-dlc -> dlc person save game transfer works, if Impervious just loads the save, moves a unit or something, saves the game and sends it back to me. If I then am able to load his save, we shouldn't have any more problems.

I'll add you, Xizor, as soon as we confirm it. If you want to speed up the process, play a turn or two with the most recent save file and send the save to me, like we did when we tried to troubleshoot that day.

Ok. I ran a single turn to test it. It was not a serious turn..... If you open it and see what I did, you'll understand.....

i can load it perfectly
i declared war on Darius and saved again
to check whether the conversion has to be done only once, or each time a non-dlc player picks up a savegame from a dlc player, here's the save
a) without conversion
http://www.filedropper.com/test2_4
b) with conversion
http://www.filedropper.com/test2converted
try to load both please.

So so far in this test, we have..
Impervious (no-DLC) saves. Antilegend (DLC) loads.
This much we could already do. It's when DLC gave it to non-DLC that it wouldn't work. Now, Impervious, if you could load Antilegend's re-save, we'll be in business. If that works, I'll add Xizor to the list and start PM'ing some of these other people who were looking to play.

I think Impervious (no-DLC) loaded our game that Antilegend converted last time.

ok, then everything is sorted out?
dlc -> convert -> non-dlc -> dlc -> convert -> non-dlc
that's the tested chain of save game transfers and it should cover all scenarios.
so, what is the conversion policy? dlc player always converts before uploading? non-dlc player converts if he discovers the save game is dlc?
|
Hey guys, sorry, but can I be skipped this round? I thought I would have time to play, but midterms are a bitch.
|
plenty of players on the list, so just pm Caphe

I, personally, would want the non-DLC people to be responsible for converting, as its not easy to keep track of who has it and who doesn't. Alternatively, every single person could post a converted and non-converted version, and the next person can just choose between them.
Doesn't matter to me, so long as every person is educated to know about the tool, how to use it, and if they need to use it.

Is someone playing their turns currently?
