Besides, Torres certainly wasn't responsible for Spain's success. Who knows if he is really worth the money anymore.

As some others stated, I wasnt talking about players alike of Torres (although Gomez or Dzeko can be compared skillwise I guess), but more the midtier players like Carrol or other Transfers going on.

Basically you made a sweeping generalisation based on one player. -_- I'm really suprised City didn't spend any money. A lot were expecting them to go out and get players but it hasn't really happened.

Bryan Robson was before my time but he should be on the list over Rooney too imo. What about Denis Law? He surely deserves a spot. Like a lot of these lists the newer players have been overrated. Giggs is good but if you swapped giggs with Charlton in time so that Charlton was playing now, he'd be number1 instead. It's just the way these lists always go. Ronaldo at 5 when he played 2 great seasons is hmm..... Edit: thinking about it Cantona at 2 is ever more suprising.

Eric Cantona was not only a great player, but I think he is ranked that high given his personality and his identification with the club and its fans. The flying kick into the stands also scores big points in the hearts of fans.
The level of skill in the Bundesliga cannot be compared to the EPL, the EPL is miles and miles ahead of the Bundesliga. Torres is much better than Mario Gomez, he has always played in more demanding leagues than Gomez has (SP, EPL) and has won more titles than Gomez has.

Interesting how you can judge that from all the way down to Argentina. Apart from the top 4 Premier League teams being ahead of the Top 2 of Bundesliga (which are miles ahead, no doubt), the leagues aren't that much seperated in level, as you can also read out of results from European Cups. In fact, in Germany the team at the bottom of the table can win against the leader of the field, in England they get wiped off.
By the way, titles aren't the way to measure a player, hell, even very limited players have like Kuffour have won Champions League. And even it it was, Torres has won 2 titles (world champion, european champion), Gomez has 3 titles (2x German Champion, 1x German Cup).
Please don't state wrong facts.
Nevertheless, Torres is the better player. I agree.

Rooney is back!!! Oh, and Torres is not worth 58.5 million euros. Chelsea waayyy overpaid and Liverpool got the better of the deal by getting two young strikers (that will actually play) in Carroll and Suarez. Man U going to take that title back!

You are not counting the U-19 and U-16 European championships Torres has.
Moreover, German clubs have a combined total of 6 champions league victories (4 by Bayern) whereas Spain and Italy have 12 (9 Real Madrid), (7 AC Milan) and England has 11 (5 Liverpool).
Thus we see the other european leagues have double the amount of ECL victories than German clubs have historically, thus making these leagues more competitive across the board.
And yes, we do get European football "down here" in Argentina.

Nice quotations of success, lets also list in here teams like Ajax Amsterdam and Benfica Lissabon, man they have titles. Please.
No I didnt count youth titles, they never get counted apart from some not to be mentioned brazilian striker needs 1000 goals to point out :-)
And I didnt refer to historical success of the leagues, and never will, because it was never the topic. You are totally spot on in how not successful german teams are in Europe when it comes to titles. Correct. I would never contradict.
And I know that you get European Football, but I doubt you have experienced many games of Bundesliga, or Wolverhampton versus Stoke. If you do, my fault. But I don't think so. As I only get some games of Copa Libertadores, and don't care for the rest, you aswell will not care for some random league game, or group stage in Euro League.
But, let me say you, Germany has scored almost equal points in Eurocups than English and Spanish teams have and thus have climbed on third spot in European Ladder, that determines the CL starter spots. Which is not for no reason, just don't underestimate a league you don't know because you haven't heard of the players in there.
Which is not even the point and I never said that Bundesliga is equal to Premier League. What I said is that, also due to investment restrictions in Germany contradictory to Spain or England, no teams invested drastic amounts of money for any players, although there are young, good players around.
Just numbers, the Bundesliga moved 125 Million Euros in winter transfer window, with Dzeko with 38 millions from ManCity the main portion. On the other hand, Premier League, 430 Million Euros, multiple double digit million transfers. Numbers are earnings + investments, just the cash flow. (On a sidenote, Bundesliga clubs are financially healthy, Premier League clubs are mainly in huge debt.)
Thats what I meant, nothing else.

Perhaps we should see how he plays before deciding it was a waste of money? If he played last night against Sunderland he probably would have put away all the chances kalou missed...
Ps. wasn't Rooney back last year when he scored that penalty

You mofos don't understand how much I want to be in Europe right now. You guy shave Eurosports and all these crazy channels, while in America I have literally no means of watching football. Can't wait till Bosnia and I'm going to be watching football alllllll day :D

I agree with you 100%, I am sorry for the confusion on my part.
For completeness sake, I did not include other teams as we were comparing the German league to other top leagues. I do not consider the dutch or portuguese leagues to be top leagues either, but I do agree the Bundesliga is at least one step ahead of both these leagues.
