yeah I leveled a DH to 60 after deciding to quit my WD which was farming Whimsyshire pre-1.0.3
A1 is definitely a whole lot funner now with so many easily accessible elite packs and A1 elites being pretty easy
I'd imagine A2 is also funner. A3/4 probably isn't so fun for the people that were farming it pre-1.0.3 unless they are just sickly geared and can DPS burn through A3/4 elites

buy more resistance or life on hit. give 0 fucks about it.
You know, that might have been it. I spent like 4 million in upgrades and added like 25k of DPS today as well.
could you please share what you bought? i'm looking around and i barely get 3K dps upgrade with 1M investment...=[
The trick to making huge jumps like that is to start with really shitty gear. I was sitting around 50k DPS on my Demon Hunter and I basically just switched out my rings, ammy, boots, and shoulders. I had been using blue Attack Speed / Dex jewelry and I switched it for crit damage and more Dex. Shoulders went from 90 Dex to 160 Dex. Boots I had been using bugged asheara lock so I swapped those for some 200 Dex / movespeed rare.
So... I'm currently in Act 2 of Inferno, and I've noticed even more problems with the game. I've come to the conclusion that Diablo III is similar to its predecessor in that it's either too easy or too hard. And sadly, this isn't a good thing.
My Wizard doesn't struggle too badly, even in Act 2. I have to do an awful lot of kiting, but otherwise, it's very much doable. Until you come across an elite pack, that is. It's remarkable how the game goes from, "hey, not too bad" to "OMGWTFIMPOSSIBLE!"
You can deal with them as long as they move slower than your class can run, but otherwise, it's completely undoable. How are you supposed to deal with something that out guns, out numbers, AND out runs you? What's worse is that you can't even wear them down through time and patience like you could in Diablo II due to the fact that monsters will regain their health when you die.
Further still, Blizzard significantly increased repair costs. At least in Diablo II gold was worthless and easy to replenish, but in Diablo III gold is your only means of equipping your character. And worse yet, Blizzard adds to the frustration by increasing the "wait until you can press revive button" time everytime you die.
Even rabid D3 fans acknowledge the game is very lazily balanced. It's sad because the core gameplay (killing monsters) is superb. But goldfinding just isn't satisfying. I mean, Blizzard themselves said legendary items won't be as good as randomly generated rares, so why make them so impossible to find? Why not keep the core MFing that made D2 so great and addictive? I'm in Act 2 of Inferno and have not come across a single Legendary item... =/
Blizzard just doesn't know the difference between frustrating and guinely challenging...

CC, burst damage, and escape tools.
Lay down hydra, blizzard/orb once, wormhole blink up a nearby topographical feature, diamond skin and tank until you're able to blink down, then repeat. If you find you can't tank ~10 seconds of 1-2 mobs beating on you, then you're undergeared for the place.
I figure with multiple reports of players of all classes progressing through inferno acts 3 and 4, people would stop with the "omg it's impossible" qq but still? yeesh.

Like I said, it depends on the speed of the mob that's attacking you. Even with force armor, Wizard's can't take any more than 3-4 hits (unless you have ultra expensive gear?). Typically leaping burrowers which usually move fast are nigh impossible for me to deal with. And I get that I'm likely undergeared, and that brings me to the other issues with the game, such as goldfinding being unstatisfying and Legendary items being nigh impossible to come across.
You do realize that with prismatic armor, wizards have higher armor than monks, and higher resists than barbs, all of comparable gear? Blur in addition to other, significantly better defensive skills (diamond skin) make wizards able to tank just as well if not better than the melee classes.
Thus, if melee classes are expected to be able to kill stuff in [insert location], you should probably not be complaining you are unable to clear the same area with half of their minimum defensive stats eh? The mere fact that you're using force armor almost assuredly tells you that you are undergeared.

Really? I thought force armor was a staple to the Wizard...? (I wasn't complaining about the Wizard class, though. I was complaining because the game does have legitament issues.)

i fully agree ;D
the problem is skill means almost nothing, gear scales insanely. content goes from impossible no matter your skill, to faceroll with no effort far too quickly. the band of gear/skill combinations that lead to challenging, rewarding and fun gameplay is far too small.
to add problems to this mess the difficulty curve of this game is all over the place. with random mob types/affix combinations you can face a run where every pack rapes your face, jump ahead several quests and faceroll. pre patch, because of the difficulty of dealing with act2 mobs as a barb, i was of the opinion that the start of act3 was basically of the same difficulty as any part of act2.
the game is just too short at the moment, there is basically only 8 "levels", the first and second half of each act. the line is even more blurred in act4.
add all this together and the gameplay is just crazy at times, i have no idea how to fix the problem in the current game ;D
It was a staple before 1.03 when it wasn't worth the effort of getting so much armor/resist that prismatic would reduce more damage than force. After 1.03 though, even in modest gear, prismatic generally gives better mitigation than force unless most attacks hit you for >40-45% of your hp. And if that's the case, you can generally assume you're undergeared.
FUCKING ENGAGE BOSS TIMERS! Was about to kill Belial with 5 NV with my Barb but three times I got him to low health before but then he enraged and killed me. The lowest I got him to was like 5-10% health even stalling a bit in the first fight for my berserker form cd. I suppose now I should be able to kill him if I swap some of my skills for more offense ones, but enrage timers were really not needed
Has anyone had their auctions sell for $10,000 gold when they know they put the item up for much more? I simply don't waste my auction slots on small potatoes, unless I'm selling back a leveling gear and otherwise don't plan to have my auctions maxed. It's like my auction was hacked, but my account itself is fine, all important gear is intact.
This has happened at least twice now.
Edit: Actually what's happened at least twice is I read the "5" as a "$." Blast the small font, and the related mouse issue.

Yeah I've seen that video by Kripp. I think I have worse gear though since I get 1 shot by the enrage blasts. I'm not sure if it's stronger blasts or just that I get hit by multiple hits really fast. Oh yeah fuck he has much better stats. 1k resists, 50k HP and 11k armor.
With my defensive shout and Enchantress I have 800 resist, 28k HP and 10k armor and 10k DPS.
