It looks as though 8 percent chance to drop ilvl 63 is indeed in effect in the game though likely not as Blizzard intended it.
If anyone remembers rune drop tables from Diablo 2, this is all familiar. After looking through all of my data I have found that I get about 8 percent ilvl 63 items when compared to ilvl 62. So if I get 100 ilvl 62's, I will have found about 8 63's.
This is probably an oversight. A very silly mistake, but then the team that originally wrote Diablo 3's code has probably moved on or been fired by Blizzard, leaving the B team coders and head designers left.
I've been counting rares since saturday morning and I've actually found mine correlate rather nicely with drops rates posted by blizzard, though I don't count blues/whites so don't look too much into this data...
Cool data. Nice job. It tells you to stop farming A3, which is pretty funny.
It tells me that I should stop act 3, at least until I'm faster/better geared anyways haha
A friend recommended that I try Act 1 this weekend. I did and felt like I was the last idiot playing the game still doing Act 3. The mobs have much fewer hp compared to act 3, barely need to be kited by a dh and drop a lot of gold. Even without getting anything good, I get a good amount of gold just from drops. Act 1 also has a lot of very convenient waypoints to small, champion/unique pack infested areas.
Until Blizzard fixes drop rates, there's just no way act 3 can compete with act 1 unless my dh gets to around 100k+ dps. At around 48k dps, act 1 is so much better.
edit: Now that I think about it, I'm going to replace caltrops with ferret companion.
I dont know if this has been seen here yet, but here are some thoughts on how to improve the game so that it has END game to it: (by world first inferno HC clear)
Some things I disagree with, but some key things I agree with. For example the champion level thing is really cool.
I really dislike ladder (i only played ladder in d2 but if they brought it out for d3 id probs stick to non ladder, provided it was the same ladder system as d2 and not the PvP sorta one Kripp's talkin about), because I dont wanna lose the chars I put all my time and effort into (though I understand it motivates others and stuff, and as such is possibly a good idea). I really hate diablo PvP (irrationally and egotistically I think, to me it's a pure PvE game) but I completely understand what he's saying about adding more to the game and giving the option for those that want to go down that path the ability to (and I like that in this model it doesn't affect those that wish to purely PvE). As negative as what I've said is I think those ideas are pretty good tbh, so long as they (or any proposed changes by blizz) are thoughtout, evaluated and dont change the current game in a way that detracts from what it is now. Personally, additional PvE content for post inferno would be awesome too (by which I mean something/anything that takes away the whole "im only playing to find items" feel (ie more levels to get or something along those lines), but I can't really think of anything specifically.
Well, d3 desperately needs some real endgame content and competitive pvp or it will die out very soon. Ironically, the new patch sent everyone back to act 1 so before most people were stuck in the first two acts and now the dreadful loot in a3 and especially a4 coupled with repair costs has 100% of the population there.
They also need to motivate teamplay the game has been a solo snoozefest due to retarded design and single player ARPG is the opposite of success :p
Kripp has been one of the best things about the D3 experience IMHO. Learned so much from watching him play, he really is very intelligent and methodical about how he goes about things and his patience and perseverance are pretty incredible.
He hit the nail on the head so hard with that video. I've played for hours everyday since release, and I just have no motivation left to login other than to check auctions. Farming is boring and unrewarding.
When its at the point that you don't even want to ID your rares because its a waste of time..... I think enough is enough.
I just drop my un-id'd yellows when I kill some mobs so my friends think they got extra drops.... that's mildly amusing.... but hardly endgame.

if it's the multiple turn in glitch on reddit that claims '2hours' it's way off. It's pretty fast but it's more like 6+ hours not the advertised 2.
Yeah D3 desperately needs something. It was growing pretty stale then 1.03 came out and basically just put the nail in the coffin. It's so hard to farm Act 1 solely for the very minimal chance I'll get something good then probably struggle to even sell it since even the AH is in a downturn now. I like Kripps ideas of just putting something really minor to at least give people some sort of goal and incentive to play.
