based on Blizzard's track record, it's pretty probable that BlizzCon attendees will get D3 beta keys

im so torn on Diablo 3.. On one hand, it should be fun as hell and awesome environment, satisfying my cravings lately for a "easy" game which doesnt take as much mental power as SC2..
but then again, I kinda am on the verge of quitting gaming all together (trying but not working), only reason I play SC2 is cause I need something to quell the competitiveness in me.. if I did play D3, my skill in SC2 would go drastically down combined with the fact I'd probably be spending more time on gaming which is what I want to get away from.
ack. I think ill play beta (somehow find a key) then sit out the retail. Thats the plan so far I suppose.

I've never felt this much anticipation for a game, ever. I really hope I get invited to the beta!

Can't wait for a terribly balanced game for PvP to draw in a lot of players for PvP.

They haven't given beta keys the last 2 blizzcons, so I would say the chances aren't very good.... but I sure as hell hope they do.

I'm in a dilemma... I'm pretty sure I won't get any beta invitation but the question is : Am I gonna resist to watch all the streams and see all acts and mobs, places, surprises, builds, stuff and spells before I even had the chance to discover it myself ? The temptation is gonna be huge... I don't think I'm strong enough to wait while ignoring all the vods. Anyone in the same spot ? Anyone advices ?

For someone who wants to "quit gaming all together", you should not play games to be competitive. When you play a game for competitiveness, it can become unhealthy real fast. That being said, you should also not care about your SC2 skill at all.
As long as you think of gaming as more competitiveness than just fun (it should only be fun to you, because like I said, competitiveness can make gaming very unhealthy) you will continue to have this problem that you're facing. You can play a game casually, even SC2 (a very competitive game). I used to be in the top 200 during beta and the first few months of release, and now I play casually. Sure my skill has dropped (I don't know the 100 different timings anymore...), but who cares? You can do the same with Diablo 3.

They said 1000 people from BlizzCon 2010 will get D3 beta keys...

Same here, I solve it by ignoring forums. Watching vids etc doesn't spoil as much as you would think, because you only see stuff, they don't really discuss them (in most vods anyway) so you can still think about it on your own.

Any idea if Beta will be cracked and if so when? Any ideas how it would be available? It would be terrible if it happened.

Probably going to work the same way as SC2 beta did. To my knowledge it wasn't properly cracked, and wasn't worth playing offline. Not sure how relevant that is for d3 though.
I just hate getting excluded from betas. I never get in, especially not before it goes basically open (preorder keys from gamestop). I'm used to it, so I have no need to look for a crack when one does come out.

Just watch em, we both know you won't be able to resist. Accept that you are weak!

I have heard that the beta will be only act 1, maybe act 2 as well. As to avoid the whole game being shown off on youtube. Sounds awesome, yet also reminds me of WoW blackwing lair where they tried the same thing and it was -unbelievably- buggy. I am hoping they have learned from their mistakes =].

If you pre-order the game online, will you get a beta key?

Thankfully, it's an entirely difficult dynamic. If what you say is true, I would imagine there would be far less issues with releasing content that hasn't been openly tested. World of Warcraft encounters are much, much more delicate than the diablo encounters i'm expecting.

Really hoping to get into this beta. I played WoW forever and never got into any of the betas even though i gave them tons and tons of money. Also i've had d1/d2/lod and sc since they released. Show me some love blizz. I've always been a fan <3

Alright TL!
I'm off, my flight for Cali leaves shortly then its off to Blizz HQ. I'll be bringing a camcorder along to get the whole trip on tape. I know theres going to be areas inside Blizz HQ that I can't record, but I'll get everything I can.
Look forward to video of the trip, Blizz, Interviews, and a whole bunch of D3 info next Monday.
