I main Nasus and probably play him more than anyone in the game cuz he's my dog.

Siphon Strike - Physical (His tooltip is broken to say its magical right now. Riot posted this on the forum)

Wither - No damage but it's the best slow in the game. -35% movement and attack speed and an additional 15% every second for 5 seconds.

Spirit Fire - Magic. Although it makes you do more physical damage by reducing armor by 40.

Fury of the Sands - Magical AoE damge. All damage they take from your AoE is converted into BONUS physical damage (250 max from the bonus). With this, Nasus can do insane damage.

You'll probably have Trinity Force, but at least a sheen (you should). So here's the right way to team fight with Nasus:
-Wait for someone to initiate,
-cast spirit fire in the middle for -40 armor debuff,
-do whatever you need to do to get into the middle of that fight. Cast your ghost/cleanse if you have to.
-Cast wither on their carry or whoever is going to damage your team the most. (Wither will make someone like Twitch a non factor for basically the whole fight.)
-Hit someone with the sheen proc
-Pop your ultimate and hit another sheen proc
-Use siphon strike and hit with that plus sheen proc

It's very important to time your sheen procs for maximum damage without overlapping siphon strike until you need too because of it's four second cooldown.

You see? You can do crazy damage with Nasus without building virtually any DPS item. At level 18 you'll have your basic attack(185) + potentially maxed ultimate(250) + siphon strike(200) + sheen(387) =1022 damage... minus whatever their armor is giving them after your debuffs.

I admit 200 siphon strike is a bit generous, but by level 18 you should for sure be around 120 or so.

Nasus is all about burst damage and it's not unusual to hit an Ashe and take half her HP away in the late game. He's a support/off tank, not a champ you're going to solo mid and carry the team with.

So the Syphon Strike tooltip is a lie, and his ult gives bonus physical as well. Cool, I'll definitely be swapping out the MPen for APen before I start ranked.

I've been playing tank Nasus in all my games so far, building something like this:

0/17/13 - (meditation and utility mastery are far too good to ignore IMO)
MPen / Dodge / CDRplvl / Flat HP
Cleanse / Ghost

QWQEQR // R>Q>E>W

Mana Crystal + 2 HP
Sheen
Merc Treads
Banshee's and/or Thornmail
GA
-whatever-



Yeah you want those armor pen runes. You also want some CDR on Nasus but I think it should come from masteries. My rune setup is something like Armor pen reds, Mana regen /lvl yellow and blues, Flat HP or move speed quints.

Nasus can benefit a lot from the MS quints because it helps with positioning yourself well in team fights, is great closing the distance enough to cast your wither on someone when chasing or ganking, and with movespeed masteries and some items it helps him push lanes deeply then running away or back to your team.

Masteries I go 0/9/21 or 9/0/21.
The former is better for a 1v2 lane because you take Strength of Spirit. Combined with your Doran's shield you'll have great HP regen in the lane so you can be a little more aggressive in going for siphon strikes.

^yeah in the discussion over the last few pages I decided to change my masteries up to 0/9/21. Do you always start Doran's Shield? I much prefer running Mana Crystal as it means a very fast Sheen and works well with SoS.

since I don't like sheen, I tend to open Ruby Crystal or Cloth Armor for a fast HoG.

Hm, Malzahar buffs. He was free the first week I started playing LoL back when I didn't have a clue about anything and I really liked playing him. Now that he's fighting his way back to viability one patch at a time I might have to save up for him.

On another topic, I've picked Olaf after I realized that I suck too bad to play Tryndamere (what can I say, I like berserkers). I've been trying a tanky build with Frozen Mallet, Atma's Impaler and then as much extra health as I can manage (Sunfires or whatever). I'm not too sure how I feel about the Atma's though. Anyone have tips on a tanky Olaf build?

Also what exactly is the deal with Tryndamere? Is he considered underpowered in general or is he really just that difficult to play well? I went 7-0-1 one game before I ended up disconnecting, but most every other game I've played is like 2/8/x or something equally atrocious.

tyrndamere is pretty bad early game but in 45 minute or longer games nothing stops him basically from 1v5ing your team

IMO it is a waste to level up Nasus' Q before his E.

I go QWEEER etc. Especially in a 1v2 lane because it allows you to farm super easily without being harassed.

I run mp5/level runes in blues and they are enough to let me lane efficiently.

Myopia / Ruken I think you guys misunderstand his role / his strengths. He is best as a strong TANK farmer. Sheen is good on him, but the mana crystal is a waste to open with, and far behind a dorans shield in utility. 400 gold is not a lot of money, especially on a char that has no problem farming.

I build him dorans > boots (merc usually) > aegis > phage > trinity, allows for a lot of survivability and a good damage output for mid-late game, which is when nasus really starts to shine.

Trynd is generally considered very UP. His late game is considered monstrous, but getting there seems to be impossible, so the net result is that people consider him to be bottom tier.

For Olaf, I don't play him, but from the good ones I've seen, I'd say you should do something like

open cloth armor + 5 hp pots
HoG + Boots
phage
vampiric scepter
upgraded boots (his ult makes merc less appealing, so I have no idea, it's probably situational)
Frozen Mallet
GA
Starks
Omen

...or something. I dunno, I see Mallet + Starks as the damage output items on him and from there you mostly need Armor/MRes to make the most of the HP from Mallet. you also should be jungling with him for the record.

Ugh servers go down as soon as I hit 1400 elo. It took me forever to reach 1300 and once I did I didn't lose a game. Pretty amazing seeing everyone in my game be actually somewhat good.

He's a tank, just an off-tank and yeah his farming/pushing is maybe the best in the game.

I wouldn't open mana crystal and wouldn't build sheen first. It leaves you far too squishy and that stuff doesn't cut it once you start playing good opponents. Doran's shield is my favorite starting item but Ruby Crystal is also a great choice if you're building an Aegis or rushing Catalyst.

I just think he needs some sort of early survivability item before he starts on his core build.

Edit: Oh and I think he can fill a few roles, but he's best at being a tanky support champ that will deal lots of damage in team fights, help the team with his auras/debuffs, and shut down the enemy carry.

By the way does anyone know what the new champions skills are going to be like? I know hes a tank an has some type of aoe slow but thats about it.

I play tank olaf as:

apen/health/mres per level/health runes
1/16/13 masteries
ghost/smite summoner spells
skill order is: WQ and then R > Q. If you prefer burst, Q > E > W, if you prefer DPS (especially for tower raping) Q > W > E. I typically go R > Q > W > E
Item order is doran's shield -> giant's belt -> chain mail + negatron (in either order) -> ghostblade + sunfire cape (in either order) -> guardian angel

Open by taking golem, then go lane with axe + blue buff. Use your smite on big minions or to jungle to keep yourself farmed the rest of the game. Run in with ghost/ult to demand attention, and focus enemy carries.
