Update!!! Release date announced for FFXIV...September 30th. And if you get the collectors edition it'll be the 22nd! I'm super stoked for this even though I'm sure I'll be playing mostly SC2!

I really hope grouping is at least twice as viable as soloing. I also hope there's a minimal amount of quests and that most mobs take at least a minute to kill with a group.

I really don't get why people like doing 20 quests and killing 200 mobs every hour. I play Starcraft when I want my hands to hurt

wow yeah I just saw the release date, kinda leaning towards getting it even though im a ex WoW addict. I have a question for those that has been following this game though, I see on the FAQ they said their geared towards casual players as well can anyone elaborate? I would like a casual friendly MMO and I'm not looking to get back into wow.

"SquareEnix has revealed that Final Fantasy XIV will most likely skip the monthly fees and favour 30-day subscription plans instead, since they are so popular. They are more flexible because the days are counted instead, thus removing the need to pay for unused time. The subscription fee is unknown at this time."

That's what got me really interested, cause when I play casually thats the number one thing I'm looking for, for instance when I first played wow it took me like 6 months from 1-60 cause i only played 2-3 days a week few hours a night, instead of paying the 6 months subscription I can just take my time.

FFXI was one of those games that I loved and hated at the same time.

The feel, look, playstyle of the game was fantastic. The production and execution were great.

The leveling mechanics, the social arrangements, the mixing of US and JPN servers were not so great. The fishing bots, the customer service, the English speaking playerbase/community or lack of...ugh.

I have high hopes for XIV given they recognized most of their mistakes and there was some truly superb design done on the last one.

i has monster rig. its running SUPER smooth looks absolutely amazing.

looks more like a console game than an MMO. I'm incredibly impressed.

This is great, just got the email. Played ffxi pretty hardcore for two years, dwindled off in my third year just because of time. And yes if you can't login like me I'm guessing its because of
