I read every single word of it and watched every VOD. All I can say is that it gave me goose bumps. Words can't even begin to describe how amazing and mind-blowing sAviOr's play was back then. He was an artist, a surgeon, he was Richard fucking Wagner.
I've said it already and I will say it again. No matter what he's done, Ma Jae Yoon not playing this game competitively anymore is a huge loss for everyone who enjoys watching good Starcraft. If he had just focused solely on winning games like he did in the old days instead of fixing matches I'm pretty sure he would have come back to his former glory.
There is one thing I have to admit however... at some points in those VODs I can't help but think "if Flash had controlled that army he would have rolled him". I say this as a Flash fan of course, but I say it as an even bigger sAviOr fan. The OP brings up an interesting point though when he talks about forcing critical mistakes on your opponent. When it comes to sAviOr you never know what mistakes he might or might not have forced even on someone like Flash.
What truly saddens me is that we will never know. A Bo5 between sAviOr and Flash at their respective peaks would be my dream come true in terms of Starcraft.
Edit: I almost forgot - THANK YOU for this amazing read.

Wow what a very long article. I lost a lot of time reading it and I'm not even a Savior fan + Show Spoiler +but it was worth it . Can't wait for EffOrt's comeback Thanks for working hard writing this article(and waiting for a year to release it)!

Incrediable writeup! Savior was my second favorite player right behind July and reading his post brings back so many memories! I will see if I can't incorparate some of Savior's SC1 tatics to SC2

Amazing article, makes me wish I knew about pro starcraft years ago. I'm excited for when this kind of thing happens in pro SC2.

Sick read, and even sicker graphics.
Savior was the player who got me into the pro scene and got me into playing Zerg, so despite his wrongdoings, it's hard to deny that he was an extraordinary player.

Never been an uber BW fan or anything but I sometimes fear it might not come to that in a very long while. Since Kespa isn't putting slave rights unto the players anymore everyone seems to be practicing SC2 much more casually. I am glad the players are not as strained and can enjoy/relax abit more but as a spectator I want the best games there can be. An example of this is how westerners are way to casual in their practice in comparison; a big reason why no foreigner ever really made it in korea. Ofcourse the game is being figured out and all that but until the prize pools begin becoming so insanely great that the players themselves really WANT to practice 12 hours a day everyday to earn their money within 6 years and then retire; The level of SC2 games will just not be comparable.

ah people make mistakes and get caught up in life
i still love you savior no matter what kespa says

fucking love you OP your rad . sAviOr i miss you T_T

Great read. I now know a little bit of brood war history, thanks

God dammit Savior, why'd you have to do the scandal T_T

Such an awesome read. Sadly, I got into bw right as bisu was on the rise :/
As a fellow zerg player, I'm always reminded of what I missed when I read about Savior's play. Regardless, it's epic to read about what he did and how far ahead of everyone he was.

I remember when I was first getting into Pro BW and I had only heard of Boxer...and my friends were talking about the best progamer and I was all obnoxiously like "SLAYERSZZZZZBOXER??!?" and they were like stfu its fucken Savior.
Good times good times.
Great article.

I logged on to say this is one of the best articles I've ever read. My top one would probably be Tribal Colors, but this one has incredible analysis and length.
It makes me miss the sAviOr days. The pro-scene now isn't as interesting as his domination and his painful fall (although it's definitely not bad). I remembered watching every sAviOr game to see if he'd ever find a resurgence in him.
Also, no more Hwasin vs. sAviOr. =/
Again, amazing Final Edit.

Very epic article! half-way through it! ><

The greatest crime of the matchfixing scandal was not that it happened, but that the Savior got caught up in it. There'll always be cheaters, but losing Savior was a huge loss that I'm surprised broodwar has surprised. I don't want him to come back but I'm sad he's gone. Very well written.
